I'm growing sugar snap peas in my indoor greenhouse right now in December. I have LED grow lights and i picked up a small ceramic heater to better control the temperature inside the greenhouse. The plant is huge but no flowers yet. On the other hand, the pole beans are in their second round of flowering, I have radish and pak choy that are doing extremely well and the beets seem to be growing too. Maybe the temperature is too warm for the peas???

Hi cheryl, very cool what you are doing, way to keep things going/growing in the off season. The peas are self polinating so that is not the issues. Sugar snap peas prefer cooler temperatures (around 60-70°F or 15-21°C) during the day and slightly cooler at night. Consistency in temperature is crucial for flowering. Sorry for the delayed response. Best of luck, Let us know if they turn out, always great to hear the stories. Thanks for watching my video.

Interesting! I wonder if the humidity stays more constant in the hoop house; possibly, not having to work so hard for water allows them to handle the heat better? Compared to outside where there's a lot more airflow drying out the plants. Thereby making them work harder outside, and stressing them out more.

Hi DogSlobber (love the name). I agree it does stay more humid for sure and that likely plays into why the are doing well / not dyring out as quick. I also fee that the cucumbers I planted right next to them have helped shade the roots of the peas and visa versa. Thanks for the comment appreciate it.

@@EasyGardenHacks I think you're correct, it's a combination of those factors. Thanks for sharing, next year I'll try to have fresh peas in the middle of summer too!

What zone are you? I’m in Denver zone 5b. I have had a small 6x6 hobby greenhouse outside for 2 summers and overwinter. I’ve had absolutely no luck with growing anything at all in it in any season. The spring/summer temperature is just too hot, over 120 degrees. I have moved it inside into the basement which is cool but the temp is around 75 degrees all year. Would you recommend seed starting for fall crops inside the greenhouse in the basement with grow lights and heat mats or just in the basement with the same ( this is how I did it for my spring plants but everything was stunted)? I enjoyed your video, and just subscribed after watching the great cucumber pruning video, I learned a lot, thank you!

Hi Brandy, Im between zone 6a and 6b. greenhouses can get really hot, 120 is really really hot, my hoop house is not in direct sun the whole day, from about 4-5pm on no direct sun so it probably cools off well. I also staple up the plastic on the sides of my hoophouse for lots of ventilation.
For starting seeds for fall in your basement I dont think the greenhouse is needed unless its way too dry and you need the moisture for germination. The lights will create heat (unless you are using LED) so heat mat might not be needed either. I only use a heat mat on my pepper seeds as they are known to be really tough to germinate. Leaving a heat mat under your plants once sprouted can kill or stunt them (the tiny roots are not strong at first)
Great questions. Thanks for watching, subscribing and your comments. Best of luck.
