  • This Cessna A-37 Dragonfly is the only 'Tweety Bird' flying in New Zealand, and it's shown here during a display at the Tauranga City Classics Of The Sky airshow held at Tauranga Airport, New Zealand in January 2014.

    8th Special Operations Squadron, Bien Hoa Vietnam. A-37s unit was the last USAF planes to leave the war, January 1974. Great plane for close air support.

    I lived in Wichita, KS where these things were built. I remember during the Vietnam war they were testing these little beauties. I'd watch them take off and go crazy. Great little aircraft and VERY impressive performance.

    Thank you for restoring this little flying machine to its flying condition and allow it to wear the colour of the once proud VNAF .It made old soldiers like my father wept to see his beloved Republic of Vietnam flew in the freedom sky of New Zealand

    Remember A37B of South Vietnam Air Force. This attack airplane is main force of VNAF during the war

      My great uncle flew that plane during the VN War. He was the commander of his squadron when he was promoted to LtCol.

    I do enjoy watching this little bird fly, it's no F-4 by any means, but I do like it. Must be that barn door of a rudder. Thanks for the vid.

    It's funny what brand names evoke. I hear 'Cessna' and I think 172 and related, small private GPA and training aircraft. Then I think exec jets, first the slightly slower straightwing ones, then the fast Citation Ten, things to buy when you win the lottery. I forget about things like the Dragonfly. It's just not what I think of when I think of the company.

    Sad that this aircraft, just the OA-37, has no refuel boom on the nose like the OA-37B had. They could refuel in the air.

    I love this plane. I fly it vicariously as I'm piloting our company Citation. I wonder if there are any common parts? BTW, T-37 = Tweety Bird. A-37 = Super Tweet (aka Dragonfly).

      Only looked the same A37 much beefier bigger engines

    • @aixaburlison4
      @aixaburlison4 Před 4 lety

      T-38 engines minus afterburner, heavier gear, hard points on wings, proportioned fuel pumps to fly inverted, heavier wings, intake screens to prevent FOD, foreign object damage to the engines, thrust diverted for slowing down on landing. Ejection seat upgrades in 84-85. Among lots of other things
