Cool! I'm going to check out our sunsets from downtown. Also, yes on the backpack reviews...what exactly are you looking for? Seems like you use a rather large one for in-city shoots.
nice, I should have realized about this for CHI too. Manhattan is at a tilt and so are all streets even the couple of so that are said to run E-ast West are only approx. E-W oriented.
The days for Manhattan were May 29/30 and July12/13.

Great photos and light...I prefer the third photo (from the lady with the phones).
Also, I'm not sure what camera you're using and how many megapixels you have at your disposal but I noticed some really cool looking shadows of people in the train. Cropping in to them might look really good!

Not sure if this is the right forum but any tips about how to keep screw-on filters safe and organised while doing street photography? The square plastic boxes they ship in are terrible.

What Len you alway use?
Do you recommend A7III as a beginner camera? There has been debates about it being the best camera for beginners, should it really be used as a beginner camera?
It's an amazing camera for any level if you have the $$
Your ideas and talent is beyond awesome. So, I have questions on how to find when these "two times a year" occur in other cities. I just used Sun Surveyor on my iPhone and it looks like the streets in Cincinnati are just barely off alignment to do the same thing you are did in Chicago. However, I don't know if I just missed it or it is about to happen.
So, my question is how do find when this occurs in different cities?
I went back to the sun surveyor app and started moving the clock forward until I found when the setting sun will line up with the East/West streets in Cincinnati and it looked like about October 9th. Not sure if you have other methods, so curious if you have any suggestions.

One of the rare things I'd miss about living in a city or some urban areas :) Otherwise I'd be in the countryside ....... running after some sheep :)
Actually as I was watching I was asking myself: How would that be with HDR techniques? (if movement was not an issue)
would it be possible also to use "safari photography" techniques here, with those speedlites or strobes with extensions to read hundreds of meters? Just to add some fill to part of the shadows (with warm gel added of course).
Oh and that tongue-biting thing... no worries .. i do it all the time, and i think I'm going mute by next year :)
