New Here?
My name is Luis Gusto, I am a filmmaker and CZcamsr living in Chicago.

When you said “underground” I knew right away it was the Pedway! It’s crazy how no one uses it enough during those winters!
Definitely used it when I was in school downtown
90% of Chicagoans either don't know it exists, or can't find the entrances. I rarely know how to find it.
I always used it working near it, the bar after 4 was always packed and great atmosphere lol
I didn't catch where the Pedway is.
@@dianamatthews2613 The pedway is right in the middle of "the loop" in downtown Chicago.
Luis, as an 82 year-old retired former lifetime Chicagoan, I must say that
you do a great job and the occasional appearance of the lovely Marissa is a bonus. Thank you.
What's good #GustoGang - hope you enjoy this film, it is over ONE YEAR in the making. Let us know if you want to see more HIDDEN GEMS of Chicago!
Please sir, may I have some more?
Please more, I have lived in Chicago for 3+ months now and still learning, being from the NW Suburbs but raised in SW FL I am loving your videos, it tells me of what I have missed from my Birthplace
Chicago native here and I can confirm, I haven't heard of most of these places. But so excited to visit some of these! Thanks for sharing!
Loved it!! I need a part 2!
So glad to hear! Part 2 already in the works 😎
Agreed !! Most definitely need a part 2! 😁
Your channel is so fun for someone who has moved away from chi
That's definitely one aspect of our mission, thanks so much for being part of the journey!
Luis, great stuff! Really helping me remember all the greatness that is Chicago, and catch up with everything that is new and dope. I remember when D’Amato’s opened, the only problem for we students is we couldn’t get there often enough! Hey, what is your co-host’s name? Larissa? Marissa? She’s great, really adds to the presentation.
Don't know how I got this video but was ecstatic to see not only including 22 E Jackson but also including the history of the smallest addressed building in Chicago.
For years when I worked down there I passed it, was only a mysterious facade tucked away behind a steel gate. So glad it wasn't torn down or incorporated into another building or whatever poor fate could have allowed to happen.
Luis, your videos have always been amazing but this one was wow!!! I love your videos so much that I started watching them in Atlanta but I'm typing this comment here in my Hyde Park apartment!!!! Keep doing what you do!!
Hidden gems 💎 within the hidden gems 😮
Going to Chicago for the first time in June on our honeymoon! Can't wait! Your videos are amazing! Thank you!
Thanks so much Diane! Have a great trip 😎💯
Wow! That was my favorite video you've put out. Thanks for all those great tips...I must see all of them next trip. 👍 Really love your videos!
Loved this video, keep going. Super interested in more architecture, art and perhaps cool stores and brands unique to the city.
wow this was awesome. the coffee place, the pedway, and the sandwich were great
Aw, man. Your Chicago videos make me miss me living there. The best city. 👌
💯
Wow!! Amazing video with a lot of amazing places that I never knew about. So happy you mentioned D'amatos, a Chicago institution!!
Chicago’s got so many hidden gems in each neighborhood. Recently been finding more and more in the West Loop/Fulton Market District
So true!
Great piece! Looking forward to visit those places soon…
love the editing, it gave me goosebumps seeing the transition from the old stockyards gate to what's left of it today
Awesome video. Can't wait for the next adventure.
Planning to bring my two Preteen boys back Chicago in a week... As you're talking I'm opening up browsers on my laptop and saving everything you're saying. 🎯
Just moved back to the Chi… so excited to try these
Thanks brother 💯
Thanks for mentioning Woolly Mammoth btw! Might possibly be my favorite place in Chicago
great vid!! i love your channel, it's such a good resource as I'm new to the city and didn't know where to start exploring :) thanks for your work!
I'm definitely planning on using the pedway as much as possible when I'm out in late January haha
Great content I'm planning a visit in the summer so I want to get as much information as possible. Thank you.
I used to live in Indiana and I am always trying to find good Chicago videos to show my friends and they are so good at it! They talk about all the interesting facts and show the best places! Happy to have found them! I’m hooked!!!🥰👏🏽
Love Woolly Mammoth! ❤️
💯🦣
I must say you two are as adorable as you are informative! My husband and I live in Lake Geneva and just spent the weekend in Chicago. We love the city and I’m anxious to explore some of your suggestions!! Thank you!
Wonderful video. Really like how you put this together and shared the history of places you visited and didn’t just say what it was. Sound quality is good as well. What do you use for your equipment?
Wow~! Love your vid!
This was so awesome! Would definitely love to see more hidden gems.
Love your enthusiasm! Thanks for these gems!
Awesome stuff, big guy, Thanks!
The best travel video of this season. Thank you so much!
This was excellent, Luis.
Fantastic presentation Luis!! Love your energy. Please do more......
Really well put together video, I also loved the commentary!
Awesome Video bro.. I'm going to check a few of those hidden gems out..
This content is excellent! I was just thinking I need to go a little day adventure in Chicago. I live in Roger’s Park but I love discovering new things here!
Please do more hidden gem videos! I've been wanting to explore more landmarks and spots like the ones you featured here. Love everything you do for our city ❤️
Good vibes thanks for sharing and saved it. I’ll be checking out a few of these spots. Happy and blessed 2024!
Also at Roseland, in the shrines, one of the largest collections of Tiffany stained glass in the US. Not by size, but by #’s. Enjoyed the video
Awesome video, very well made 🦋🦋🦋
Yes! Would love a Part 2!
Absolutely beautiful thank you Luis you always appreciate it 🌬♥️From Chicago
These feel like true hidden gems! Thanks for giving me so many great ideas for my upcoming (and first) trip to Chicago.
I've gotten lost in the pedway before getting off the redline, its sooo cool to enter through macy's and find yourself surrounded by the stained glass work and other stores underground.
The quality is sooo good, Luis.
Thanks bro!!
Great video! Thanks guys... tourist in your own town!
Great job man, awesome stuff. I always brush off the pedway, but you're right, I should give it a second look haha
Your videos are so good !! & get better everytime I watch them 😇
Been to 7/10 of these places, would love to see more videos like this!
Fellow Chicagoan, Great job!! Nice video, didn’t know about Marz but now I do and I must check it out. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
Another fantastic video Luis, some gems there for sure, I am hoping 22 brings better- safer opportunities to travel from the UK 🇬🇧.
This is dope. Definitely some cool spots to hit up when I go to Chicago. Not sure when that will be. But this gives me an idea of what to do and see rather than just the typical tourist stuff in Chicago.
Great ideas, as always.
loved this!
Looking forward to part 2. Are there other places like Marz? 🙂
Amazing video! Have not been to one of these places and I have lived in Chicago for 6 years now!
Sooo Dope bro!
Thanks brotha 💯🙏
Great video!
I stumbled on this place by accident one day many years ago and was surprised and fascinated. I was born and raised in Chicago and had never heard of it. I did hear of a similar system in Downtown Montreal. Haven't had a chance to get up there yet to check it out.
SUPER UNDERRATED CHANNEL I LOVE IT
Nice job guys!
Hidden Gems FTW! Nice Quay shades broo!
Marz Brewery is a great place to go to before a White Sox game!
🧦⚾️
More of these please!❤
Marshall Fields!!! Love you brother! Great channel, liked, subscribed, sharing.
Excellent video
Fun fact, the stock yards was a pretty prominent underground racing spot back in the late 90's to early 2000's. We're talking about organized level of gear heads that used to meet at the Jewel-Osco/White Castle parking lot pre-dating all of the Fast and the Furious craziness.
Idk how you popped up on my feed; long story short thanks man! Definitely knew about 2 spots the rest here be to me. Will subscribe for more!
Welcome to the channel!
Just watched a few of your videos and I love 'em. As a native Chicago girl, you taught me a lot I didn't even know!
Don’t forget the
Green Mill in Uptown!!!
Good job my guy 👍
Much appreciated
Great video. I’ve been in Chicago for 10 years and never been to these places. I’ve seen the signs for the pedway but never explored it downtown
Mucho Gusto !!!
Well done
i loveeee the Smart museum, highly recommend
I came across your video and I think I’m here to stay !! I’m from a small town about 50 miles west of Chicago, but I always LOVE taking the Metra to the Ogilvie Transportation Center & then from there start walking towards the bean , but after watching your video I will definitely have to go out and find those hidden gems this wonderful state we call home, has to offer ! ♥️✨
Now I have heard a few people mention that there’s like a flea market or something along those lines underground.. but I personally don’t know if that exists or not , if it does maybe you could do a part .2 on it !! With your GF of course!! You both made this video very fun to watch!!!! 😊😊😊😁😁😁
I just subscribed to your channel, I can’t wait for the next ones !!
Back in the 60s, every April we would go to the international dog show at the amphitheater in the Union Stockyards. It was a benched show with every AKC breed at the time. They had Saluki and Irish Wolfhound races. Sporting dog field and water retrieving trials. And final judging in the main arena. It was such a great annual event. Afterwards we would have dinner at the Stockyard Inn. Where Leo Carrillo's priceless saddle from the TV show "The Cisco Kid" was displayed. I even remember seeing the last vestige of cattle being rounded up by honda motorcycles as I sat on top of the corral overlooking the almost abandoned fences that ranged for 10 miles. I never missed that dog show from 1962 to 1975. Eventually it was at McCormick place. Never the same experience.
Nice job, guys! As a former Chicagoan and also used to work off Jackson, I had no idea Hero Coffee existed... but I worked closer to the river... my excuse. Keep up the great work!
I also like how you included some cool spots on the south side. As a north sider for 15 years, I know how the south side gets slighted but so many cool things to do there and see. Kudos again.
I never heard of the pegway tunnels and shops etc... really cool
Interesting places- need to check them out! Never knew about that coffee shop in downtown and video games @ MARZ must be something new! Also, parking around there is very limited but try their pastrami sandwich (if it's available) with black mustard- weird but delicious!!
D'aMato's tiramisu is a must.
This is just what I needed! I'm always looking to explore more of Chicago without spending too much
I finesse that like button on every video. Lets help our boy Gusto grow!
Oh, I'm so glad!))
😁
Rosehill has dozens of famous graves and nearly every large family plot has a story. If you’re driving through keep a look out for deer, there’s a herd of around 7-9 that live within the cemetery. If anyone does make the trip from further away, there’s excellent food just east in Andersonville and Fireside is right by the main entrance on Ravenswood. Appreciate the excellent video!
hi Luis enjoy your videos and I am going yo Chicago later this year and will incorporate some of your ideas. so have you ever done the Segway tour? what do you think? also have you been to galloping ghost arcade out in Brookfield?
D'Amato is amazing. The ped way is good when it's cold outside
Luis, you gotta add the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago Fountain located just west of the LSD bridge over the river. It's a beautiful spot that's only accessible by a small cul-de-sac next to the river on the north bank. I'm a Chicago fireman and I know tons more, but that's the spot I always went to on a first date. Beautiful and scenic.
Chicagoan here. I didn’t know about Smart. Thanks for that tip.
Yes, yes, yes!!! D'Mato's absolutely has delicious sandwiches. I went there with my brother and my husband. We are from Chicago but my husband is from New Orleans. So he knows great food. My husband LOVED the sandwich he got. I got Italian beef. I'm glad you mentioned it because I didn't remember what the name of the place was but I remember the Tesla lot just east of D'Mato's.
Pedway is like the PATH in Toronto. D Amato's seems like a fun place. 🇮🇹 Coffee ☕️ shops. Smart Museum. How about the underground roads?
Yes please!!!
I like that they used the stained glass, but they used to have all that stained glass at navy pier and that was my favorite hidden gem back in the day.
Mars brewery!!! i love that place!
Luis I will try Hero's Coffee bar and pay another visit to the Pedway station. Union Sqaure does look like a place that's worth visiting.
Dude those sunglasses are🔥🔥🔥 gotta tell me where u got those
