Growing up we didn't have cable and all we had was a VHS tape of Friday and I watched Friday probably over 1000 times before I hit 13 ... A brother who stood on his 10 his entire life, married with the same woman for decades, no crazy BS come out about his life, shout out to Cube.
Not only is Friday an all-time classic Comedy, but its as close to a near perfect film as you can get. All-Star cast, amazing soundtrack, catchy one liners, memorable characters, cinematic and aesthetically well filmed, good pacing of the storyline, a moral of the story at the end, and an accurate portrayal of urban street life. Plus there are little nuances added in that you wouldnt see until a second or third viewing. Amazing cinema.
Me and one of my best friends got baked, and went to the theater and watched 'Friday' the day it came out. Instant classic and now 30 years later still an all time favorite comedy! Bye, Felicia. So many great lines me and my homies still use to this day.
My buddies older brother bought the DVD when he saw it randomly in HMV, I never heard of it but he was hyping it up, we went back to his place to get stoned and watch it, I was not disappointed, one of the best stoner movies

Movies like Friday is what makes life feel like a simulation sometimes. It’s such a classic really perfectly crafted movie and it’s one of those things that just feels like it’s part of the fabric of life. Maybe it’s because I’m 27 and I don’t know a life without Friday but it makes me feel that somethings are just meant to be.
Friday is truly a classic movie like no other. It's up there with Chappelle Show and Ace Ventura as something that will be remembered and quoted for generations. Cube is right in that the hood was only represented by Menace 2 Society, Colors and Boyz. Friday gave the outside world a look at how it was tough but real in South Central and folks of all kinds lived out their lives everyday like everybody else.
Everytime i wasn't working on a Friday while rolling one up for breakfast i would hear in my head, "Its friday, im gonna get you high today, cause you aint got no job or shit else to do"
Ice Cube makes a great point on how he writes Friday, as a writer, and being cast alongside with his friend Chris Tucker. Friday would always be one of the greatest comedy movies of all time.
Cube holds the premiere position in my "immarappa" playlist, GOAT! Dudes a total animal, so happy to listen. I got nothing but love for him, wish health and happiness to THE man!
I was in highschool and someone who's parent worked on Friday brought the screening VHS of Friday two weeks before it hit the theater. We watched it in PE class when the teacher was out and there was a substitute who did not care in the least. We were CRYING laughing through the whole thing. Then a couple weeks later it hits the main theaters and I went with some friends. Flabbergasted we had seen this before anyone. The whole theater was busting out laughing and we were in the back talking about how we had seen this before them. Good times.
It is well documented he was a private school kid. Grew up in the suburbs. Him, snoop, dre all actors pretending to be gangsta. None of them were. It is all a facade to sell music. I like his movies and music. But the gangsta part is the lie.

Cube is an authentic and humble dude. Joe praises him for writing Friday and all he can talk about how great the co-writer is.
Authentic?? No offence but Cube is the OG gangster rap actor. He’s so much full of shit it’s sad. His ego tries too hard
It's crazy how nervous he seems
