      @@friendlyplayer92 yes it's fairly easy, but slow as hell to get things like iron if it happens to be far away, and getting bronze armor is never worth it because it's the slowest ore to get, usually you just craft a bronze mace and buckler and go to the swamp with some health foods and maybe troll armor at best.
      (And tbh what i would only get is silver armor after killing bonemass just to save iron for the padded armor, though idk it barely needs iron, all you really need is poison resistance potion, maybe root mask, an iron mace and the ability to dodge the swipe attack.)

    • @Tyndaal604
      @Tyndaal604 Před 7 měsíci

      Because "Core" by definition means the central most important part of something. Unchanged. Essentially referring to it being logs, rather than planks, Pine trees are amongst the tallest trees in the world, producing the longest logs. Nothing says "wilderness" like a densely forested hillside, with legions of foliage hardcore enough to not lose leaves (or pines, rather) due to a little cold weather. Yep, exactly. That is one of the Games biggest problems. BUT Valheim achieved something special: Again and again the game immersed me very deep in different ways. For example I really feelt like a fuckin Viking (I´m not even that much a viking fan) when sailing my dragonboat home from far foreign isles, loaded with iron and treasure through stormy weather on a wide ocean, unsure if I can make it, because the daylight fades away. Or for example carefully exploring silent village ruins that appeared peaceful and suddenly get surprise by two draughs. This was intense and thrilling dangerous at that moment, but a manageable threat for a true hero. Less than a minute into the fight panic starts. More draughs leave houses and swarm out to hunt me. ITS A FUCKIN NIGHTMARE and i get surrounded! I love the game for doing such things

      No portals? Fuck that lol, that's basically the equivalent of playing a hardcore permadeath char. Die once and you gotta refarm bronze nails for a Karve at the very least. Usually most solo players only experience that once then learn about safety portals, but every death would be like that for you. Especially annoying would be stuff like farming in other biomes. Imagine spending 30 minutes travel time just to go pick barley and flax.

    • @pfunkle
      @pfunkle Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@barahng The trick is to be nomadic. Each new island you sail to, you need to set up shop. You have to create your spawn on the island you are exploring, otherwise, you're right, that would be horrible. Lol.
      I just filled up my longboat with ore, wood, etc and my inventory with the rest. If you are a pack rat, it will suck, but stay nomadic and it was actually a really fun way to play. The longboat becomes that much more meaningful, and sailing across the sea with all your most valuable possessions is a trip lol

    I've been doing a my first solo playthrough this past week and holy hell is it fun. Farming wood and ores is actually something thag takes a bit of logistical thinking. It's been nice just figuring out how to make a beautiful and functional building to craft and forge and enhance my character. Every little step does wonders for the sense of accomplishment. I spent 3 hours late into the night last night just gathering a cartful of wood, building a huge addition to my open air crafting gazebo, then going back out for more wood. Solo play is perfect for someone who wants to take their time and enjoy every facet of the game to its fullest. Right, well like a good crop, I'm more than willing to be farmed for engagement.
    I don't necessarily have a single favorite tree, but I know what trees I like to be surrounded by. We've got a Beech tree in our front yard that's pretty tall and is a lovely sight to see, probably one of the better trees in the neighborhood if I'm honest. We also get Ponderosa Pines on our side of the pond and nothing beats being surrounded by a good pine n' fir forest. Some of the best climbing trees are, in fact, pines - their bark offers a great grip and the needles are mostly located along the outer perimter of the branches, ensuring you don't often get prickled like crazy if you stay closer to the trunk. While the resin is incredibly sticky the smell is far from unpleasant.

    I love weeping willows. Great shade, usually near water, and are distinct in a good way. Second would probably be baltic pine, because baltic pine forrests are easy to traverse and they have a pleasant smell. Birch is actually my least favourite. When you live far north enough you have exactly three trees around, that being Pine, Spruce, and Birch, so it isn't unusual to find patches of just birch, and in combination with how long the winters are, you have large areas of forrest that are just black, grey and white, making the bleak enviroment even more so.

    I recently dove back into Valheim solo (having previously played with da boys at "launch") for the Mistlands update, and while I have downloaded a plethora of mods to improve my experience I've been rather strict about not picking up any mods that would affect combat difficulty scaling or "player power" in any way. After a fight with Bonemass that stretched on for 20~30 minutes, I believe I can safely say, this game might be a bit tough as a solo experience. ;)
    However as a fan of the "long term RPG experience" (Read: MMO Nerd) I think I like the scaling. For most item tiers I feel like I actually need to upgrade my gear to the maximum to take on the next boss. However, I guess all that is about to get thrown out the window as I am now to the point of wolf breading. Soon the Plains shall fall before the might of my wolf army while I ride into the fray on a Lox.

    Personally I love the paperbark cherry - it’s a striking tree, and sized rather well for a small garden... if I get the chance, I’d like to grow one one day

      Yeah if they suck irs better to play solo. Solo is definitely fine. Most of my 260hrs was solo.
      Its just *progression* is faster with multiple people.

    I have a favorite tree! I had one before this video. The Douglas Fir or Pseudotsuga menziesii because I was surrounded by them growing up in The Pacific Northwest of the US. They're super pretty too and smell amazing. Also the folk-lore of little mice climbing into the pine cones to escape a forest fire and now their feets hang out the cones and giving them their iconic look. 10/10 love this tree

    Just started this game on xbox. You make it look easy. Am ready to go after the elder tree boss but for some reason, all I really do is gather and build. I spent 21 in game days just building a nice place for me, Still need a farm and a storage area. I'll get back to progressing the game foward soon :)

    If you want to survive there is no better tree than a birch to help you. Its unbroken bark is waterproof, making boats and waterskins. The bark shredded is one of the best fire starters. The birch has tons of medical properties: Pain and inflammation
    Infections of the urinary tract
    Kidney stones
    Arthritis
    Skin conditions, including eczema and fungal and parasitic conditions
    Cuts, scratches, and minor wounds
    Rheumatism
    Heartburn
    Stomach ulcers
    Sinus congestion
    Headaches. It also makes great rope. The inner wood can be used to make edibles like bread, greens, noodles, and for flavoring.

    Despite the arm twist, I wanted to inform you I find the might oak to be the world's most effective tree for construction, though I've personally minimal experience working with it. While I personally favor the grace and beauty of the weeping willow, especially during a windy storm.

    Haven't watched the video (yet), but as hard as the solo experience is, it feels so good when you beat a boss. The first time I beat the Elder I used cheats in the end, and stopped playing, the second time took me hours but no cheats, the third time 20 minutes, and the fourth time only 10 minutes! I can only recommend this game.

    My personal favourite tree is Pando, a root-system sharing gestalt of millions of clones of the same Populus tremuloides tree (a type of Aspen). While no individual tree lives more than 150ish years, the organism as a whole is at least fourteen thousand (14'000) years old, but could be as old as eighty thousand (80'000) years.
    Pando is largest known organism in existence, and I give it the respect and reverence such a title demands of this eldritch tree-entity, but it's not even close to the oldest. Some other, less famous, Populus tremuloides organisms have been posited to be up to 1 million years old!

    I’ve found that solo is both way easier and can be impossible; splitting loot and doing everything is tough with friends as I find myself usually getting lower tier gear and dying way more than when I have the best food, armor and weapons; the only issue is dying and retrieving death and bosses; it can also be a bit lonely and discouraging so I don’t typically play without ppl

    Modded Valheim is best, but i heavily recommend the Stagbreaker after Eikthyr, it does AOE blunt damage so while slow, it can wreck an entire room of skeletons in about three swings and it usually staggers greydwarves after one hit. For them, I typically run in small circles until any around try to melee me and then slam with the Breaker and send them all flying and then wait for them to regroup those that survived. It's (the Stagbreaker) also very useful for clearing small brush and saplings because the area damage is enough to break bushes and saplings in one to two hits in like a two meter radius around you.
