His time at North Melbourne is still my fondest memories of AFL footy and I'm a tiger supporter. North at that time were the coolest team I've ever seen . He took the flag less joke of the league North Melbourne team over in 73. Just missed the finals the first year . Made the grand final in his second year and got them their first premiership in his third year in 1975. He's a genuine legend.

A true legend. RIP Ron. You deserve all the accolades you get. To loose you and Cowboy in the one weekend is very sad. Your memories will live on forever.

It's a big call but naming the Grand Final Cup after Barassi would suitably honour him.

What people don't realise about the more than likely best grand final ever is Carlton were within 10 points of Collingwood after being down by 44 points at half time at the 12 minute mark of the third quarter when he changed the game that day by saying play on handball just keep moving. Winning a game from 30 point's down in 1970 was unheard of but to bring it back to just 10 points in 12 minutes from 44 points is still in these days a brilliant thing to do. Of course Carlton went on to win the flag by 10 points.

@@paulweston285 yes and I got to see the 1985 preliminary final when the Bulldogs he coached with the the Brownlow medal winner Brad Hardy on the half back flank go down to Hawthorn at Waverly Park by about ten points. Great football day.
