Historic SpaceX Falcon 9 booster damaged at sea

- SpaceX's flight leader in its Falcon fleet was irrevocably damaged as it was heading back to Port Canaveral in Florida. After completing its 19th launch and landing with the Starlink 6-32 mission, the booster toppled over on the droneship, 'Just Read the Instructions.' SpaceX pointed to high winds and rough ocean conditions as the principle reasons for the booster's demise.
The booster, tail number B1058, was historically significant, since it launched former NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on the Demo-2 mission on May 30, 2020. This was the first crewed launch from American soil after the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.

RIP, B1058. What a great run it had! ❤
It ain't over! Most of it will fly again.
@rbell7666 I'm glad that they will salvage what they can and reuse it. But it won't be the same.
It's sad, I feel like I lost a child 😞
What’s left of the booster should end up in a museum. An important rocket part of history now
Honestly great commentary. Made an almost 4min video feel like more than 10min. But RIP B1058. Such a sad loss.
I remember watching flight Demo-2 it was my first rocket launch RIP B1058
Great timeline video!
It served it time with distinction
SpaceX is absolutely amazing.
They keep exploding though? lol😂
Damn.
"Damaged" seems a bit of an understatement...
It had a good life and if every booster can do that many flights or more space flights then become cheaper and cheaper.
It will be rebuilt for museum use.
I'm guessing they can salvage the Merlins and other parts.
Alas! Poor 1058! We barely knew ye.
😊
I like how he said "in the aftermath of the space shuttle program." "Aftermath," as if 135 successful flights was just one big disaster that needed to be overcome.
The Space Shuttle Program had a terrible flight safety record.
In past winters, I remember SpaceX launching south and landing the booster off of the Bahamas. More protected from the high seas.
From the look, it's final destination is a scrapyard...after being mined for everything usable.
It looks like they found Dale Ketcham at Home Depot shopping for spare parts.

Thanks for memories B1058 🫡
sad to watch it lying there. good to know it's being recycled and reused.
oh my god darling baby fly baby fly😢
Read the instructions. (0f Course) Yes, [We still love you.
Musk / SpaceX modernized US space flight by 30 years just with the new space suits...
MuskRat ! They would be in the dark without all the info from NASA.
@@unkman1000 That is true from every company, in every industry. You build on the people that came before you
Have they been used? I doubt it.
@@thryceminAstronauts wear them when Crew Dragon launches
Read the instructions. ANCHOR IT DOWN BEFORE MOVING!
I doubt they could. Gases maybe toxic after landing
They anchor it down with the octagrabber.
I saw a documentary about *space junk* in near orbit .. its super highway of hyper bullets :D .. someone should clean the space junk ..
It was a good booster, until it wasn’t . 🎉
Ypu can put a christmas tree as tree stand
This booster will be remembered in the halls of spaceflight history as the first private rocket to launch humans into orbit.
RIP B1058.19 🫡
