I like Paul a lot. He's an opinionated guy & some people don't like that, but the more I've gotten to know him, the more I know how to take him & the more I enjoy his company. I find it refreshing in an industry increasingly owned by corporates that tow a vanilla company communication line, that Paul is still happy to say what he believes no matter who he pisses off! And he does know how to make a good guitar.

You had to be strong to keep control of that one!! I can see the mutual respect you have for each other... And how passionate PRS is about all of his guitars! kinda wished he didn't keep playing over you when you were talking, You seemed a bit nervous when you played too

I wish he actually did speak his mind more as he's at his best when he does. He tempers it with a very corporate need to push his own agenda, and he makes it clear that he does a lot of what he does for the sake of business. The guy has made it, he has a wonderful company selling great guitars, and really doesn't need to compete any further.

I've only met him once, but he really has 'that way' where you can just listen for hours. Even my wife was interested. Really nice guy, even if he thought I was crazy...
I asked him why, if he was a stickler for detail, the model etching on the pickup covers are wrong; the person who does the etching doesn't take into account the pickup being neck or bridge so to me, when they are on the guitar, it is upside down lol
Apparently noone has never told him that...

Lee is no multi millionaire. He's put everything he has into the business. OK, he lives reasonably comfortably, but he lives on what was a council estate on the northern edge of Guildford, not a hugely desirable address, and he doesn't have a massive collection of gear. The only way you could consider him to be a multi-millionaire is if you include the property and stock vested in the business.

    • @davecarsley8773
      @davecarsley8773 Před 5 lety

That's because you're a poorly raised jerk. You don't seem to understand that during a conversation, whether you're listening or not is far less important than if the other person THINKS you're listening. If they don't, it changes the entire dynamic of the conversation. They open up less, say different things, and engage with you on a far more shallow level.
Perhaps you should stop thinking about whether YOU think it's rude or whether or not YOU know you're listening and start thinking about the person who's giving you their full attention and only getting half of yours (or just enough to comprehend what they're saying well enough to respond to them).

But Paul, when you're holding a conversation and you stop talking and the other person starts, that is *not* your que to turn up your guitar and start playing while starring down at it. I play it into a Princeton reverb reissue. I love PRS and I love that Paul owns and runs his own company. I'm switching to PRS for my main guitars from now on. Paul is just so innovative with all those little things he's always putting into the guitars and that counts for a lot in my book. I don't see many large companies doing those things if any. I think the captain is a little hard on himself, he may not be the flashiest player in the world but he knows his limits and doesn't try and push them which results in him sounding very musical, tasteful and reliably solid. A playing style that lends itself to amps that put out exactly what you play like that.

I have recently become a subscriber to your channel and have to say I really appreciate your videos. They are funny and informative. I was not real familiar with PRS guitars until you and Rob did a few vids. I have to say I want one or two now to add to my collection. They sound great, look great and after Mr. PRS was on I understand his passion and why they are a quality company. I think I will get an SE Custom 24 to start off. Cheers.

I got lucky and was able to pull the trigger on a PRS that I'm smitten with, but I kinda do regret not getting a Gibson Snow Falcon V when I had the chance. That guitar was incredible and now they're selling for thousands of dollars more used than they cost when they were new

I live in Maryland and now I’m getting to see how cool Paul is it makes me wanna rock his guitars. I don’t owns prs but I wish I would of got one last time my only thing is they can be lofty and I love 80s colors which they don’t really have them vibrant colors. I loved the exotic wood ones and I love both of the ones they are playing. I even liked one of the cheaper ones idk I like natural or sunburst but usually in acoustics. Wow I love all them guitars there very classy that ebony one wow where was that one when I just dropped mad cash.

I spent £3500 on a PRS cu24 artist pack over 10 years ago, I returned it to Andertons 2 weeks later and traded back to a Gibson Les Paul Std.
I don't regret it, I did get an se245 Ltd edition which was a great guitar after I flipped neck pickup. Some of us prefer certain brands over others, I appreciate that many of us have a preferred guitar brands and models, with me though it's Gibson.

I don't see what people's problem is with Paul He's just being American and clearly believes in and loves his own products and not in a 'mine are best because I said so' kind of way, his passion shows through and that's just what you want in a manufacturer.

Cockney rhyming slang originates from stock trading in London when traders wanted to discuss the movement of stock without the public knowing what they were referring too.

Guitar I regretted not buying: I had one of the first Taylor Koas for testing and it was unbelievable. It was really expensive so I couldn't buy it anyway, but the parcel service somehow destroyed it on the way back. It was insured of course, but when I heard that it was destroyed it broke my heart.
Gear I regret selling: I had two Meda Thiele Road Ready 1x12", sold them way too cheap to get a 4x12" V30 cab.

13:00 Supposedly, cockney slang was invented by criminals in London so that they communicate with each other without police knowing what they were saying. Dogs bollocks evolved from a term that retailers used when packaging their products for customers; Box Standard and Box Deluxe which became "bog standard" and "dogs bollocks". But this may all be a myth and I don't think many people really believe it anyway.

  • @Thejgomez

The Steve Jobs kind of persona with the same attitude towards their products, so you either hate or love Apple just like it is with PRS. Both companies in my opinion created a niche where their products have a social status mojo/fame/name/ bigger than the reality. Have used/own both Apple and PRS in the past and decided to go to other companies because luckily after a while got to see their products as products and not as magic act anymore (the secret behind the cards trick).

According to the TV show QI, dog's bollocks and bog standard are supposed to have come from Meccano (an old kids construction toy) sets, the basic set was called Box Standard (bog standard) and the bigger set was called Box Deluxe (dogs bollocks)
