- October 2012, Stamford Hill's highly orthodox Gaby and Tikwah Lock - married for 40 years who had never been on a holiday. Their leisure time was spent divided between religious study and domestic duties.
Then they booked themselves a 12 day Mediterranean kosher cruise. Although it tours the same destinations as many ships, this is a cruise like no other. Alongside universal entertainments like belly dancing and a communal jacuzzi, the Golden Iris boasts religious lectures, creative towel folding and couples relationship workshops. The experience of life on board seems to bring a sparkle to many of the marriages it hosts. 'It's like putting a log in the fireplace,' says one woman, 'For the flame not to go out, you have to feed it once in a while.'
For Gaby and Tikwah, however, the story of the holiday throws a surprising and revealing spotlight on married life. Home truths and frustrations emerge from their visits to the cruise ship couples workshop, which Gaby resolves with an unexpected gift for his wife and a little more understanding of Tikwah's exasperation at his domestic shortcomings.

I come from a Jewish family ,grew up with the Jewish traditions and now all of my family(mum, brother and grandparents)have died.Its just me and my children now and when i see this it brings back so many wonderful memories and makes me feel close to my beautiful mum . Where i live now there is no Jewish community and i so miss this part of me...

What a lovely story I myself am not Jewish but I enjoyed all the quarrelling between them but it was all gentle and lighthearted and you could clearly see that they loved each other very much I hoped that they enjoyed their cruise they strike me as being a very kindly and lovely couple and I'd love to meet them Thank you for producing this video keep up the good work

Tikwah was such a beautiful person she seemed so gentle and Gaby is the complete opposite but it was a fantastic match they obviously loved each other RIP Tikwah 🙏
They left sound on upon leaving, to discourage prowlers. I did that alot, too.
This whole thing reminded me of a Jackie Mason routine. Really enjoyed this program.

I think they should have tried to find a cruise that was more Orthodox oriented. I did not see a couple like them. Some kippahs, but mostly more Conservative Jewish people who needed the kosher food. I’m sure that entertainment was offensive to Tikvah and Gabby. I would have left Gabby to avoid murdering him, despite the obvious love! The hoarding alone would drive me crazy, never mind how lonely and insignificant she often felt and aggressive he could become. Very interesting video.
I loved her in the original documentary. She was more than able for Gabi. How sad she is no longer with us. 💔

I live within their area Stamford hill nice people they won’t approach you as many racist acts have happened old Jewish men were attacked for no reason which was a disgusting action of an idiot. but when you speak to them they are well down to earth I have many I speak to very well manatee people.
I’m certain that Gaby has ADHD. This was me until I got treatment in my thirties. I feel so bad for this great couple.
You can tell through their bickering how very much they are in love with each other. My Grandparents did the same…none of it was personal or hurtful. It was all lovely and funny…

Could you imagine paying for a vacation and being stuck with these two people and the camera crew on a small ship for over a week? Omg. My dad's Czech mother, my grandmother, had the same shrill, nagging voice like this woman. Thank God my grandmother did not 'behave' in the same manner as this woman. Come on, if she participated and joined him in activities on the trip, it may have been a better experience for her. However, I guess that she always enjoyed guilt tripping others. This was par for the course in their marriage, but why subject others to this awful behavior? It was so rude and disrespectful to the other passengers, very narcissistic. It was definitely not cute or charming. I actually applauded him on several occasions for going on tours and making the most of a well-deserved vacation while she sulked on the ship or at a cafe' table near the port.
I would have asked for my money back. 😂

It's an Israeli cruise! Out of Haifa. That's why you find counseling for frum couples and belly dancing entertainment at the same time! Yet the kashrus is of a standard that meets everyone's needs! It's like going to an all inclusive hotel at the Dead Sea or Eilat. Fun!!

Did they utilize a qualified travel consultant to have determined Shabbat's timing when booking the trip? My guess is they booked it the cheapest way possible, online or via a discount cruise reservations company, and never asked pertinent questions, nor did "El Cheapo Cruise Vacation Agency" offer nor ask them the appropriate questions when booking. Ugh

The couple's work shop is not very appropriate on a cruise.
Why not? It was just the 2 of them. The cruise is a Jewish cruise of all sorts of jews. People are more likely to be receptive to new things while they are relaxed and on vacation
