    Im going to buy a 36-volt single unit for my boat this year. The 3 interstate batteries are done. They lasted 3 years

    Hi Chris. Nice informative video. Hey i have to replace my batteries in the boat. Ones bad but im going to replace both. Just had the boat two years as you probably know. Not sure why the one gave out already. But my question is can you use these lithium batteries for your main cranking batteries or are the only for trolling motors?

      @SaltyStrikes  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Most lithiums don’t have enough cranking amps for a starting motor, house or trolling motor only pretty much, I’m sure starting lithiums will be coming in the future.

      It’s definitely cheaper in the long run, Amazon has some good Prime Day deals, links in the description area 👍

      I just bought a 100ah lithium for under 200 on Amazon. It has all the protections, balancing and Bluetooth. Which is about the same as if I bought a regular lead acid deep cycle.

    Nice video Captain! I also like the weight difference between the LA or AGM and Lithium. Tight lines!

      Yes thats another great advantage, lead Acid really only has one use in this day and age and thats a starting battery and thats pretty much it.

    Very informative Chris, l only have a small boat and one battery. Besides starting, l have a fish finder, marine radio and small bilge pump. What do you think about a lithium battery for these basic needs.?..l don't know very much about lithium batteries, hope you can help. Tight lines Captain 🎣 🐟 🇦🇺 🇺🇲

      … they work great for a house battery for live wells and instruments. Just can’t use them for starting battery because they do t have enough cranking amps. I’ll do another video going into more detail about the lithiums.

      Unless you’ve seen one burn up in person I wouldn’t believe it. We’ve been using these lithium batteries in our boat and RV for years. I’ve never heard of one of these things burning.

      @@vjmotano835 Lithium Iron are completely safe, there’s tons of information out there about them. Lithium Ion are the ones that have the bad track record. The only incidences involving Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are almost always due to operator error and not the battery it self. There are a million articles discussing the safety of these batteries for indoor use. That was an extremely ignorant reply. There always that person that says “i heard about a time when” but I don’t know a single person that has ever had an issue with LiFePO4 batteries.

    If I wanted to use just one 36 V lifetime lithium battery for my Minnkota Terova 112 pound 36 V motor which lifetime battery would you use and how many amp hours I would like to just use one 36 V instead of 3 12 V in series

    How does a lithium battery work for a outboard motor battery? Specifically, will it work with the motor charging system?

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  Před 10 měsíci

      I wouldn’t use them for a motor starting battery, they typically don’t have enough cranking amps. Would make for a great house battery for live-well, and instruments, just would need a 12v to 12v DC lithium charger.
