My New 36 Volt Lithium Battery Install

- Since I became a trolling motor guy my only complaint was battery life. After 4 hours of use in heavy current my three 12v batteries on my 36v system were drained. After hearing so much positive feedback on the new 36v single batteries I decided to make the switch. As you will hear in the video, I'm not a mechanic nor do I claim to be one. In the video you can watch along as I remove my old system and replace it with my new Dakota lithium 36v single battery.
Huge thanks to Boat and Motor Superstores for the help! - Sport
Thanks for doing this video buddy I have been racking my brains over this because I need a trolling motor with 100+ pounds of thrust and it requires 36 Volts. I already have two batteries for my engine and the last thing I wanted to do was add three additional batteries because then my boat is loaded with batteries. I think your one battery idea is the ticket for me.
Nice job captain 👍🏾
This battery works real well with 36volt golf cart I bought one for my golf cart and never look back it's real expensive but worth it 👍👍
I buy it 1 year a ago it was 1700 buck but it was worth it had to save up my money but it's worth it just go with this Brand it's the best 😀
The drainage grates are a great idea
thank you for sharing a very useful video🙏
Working in a tight CC as a bigger guy SUCKS. Downright painful. Lithiums are awesome.. and expensive! DIY saved you $500+ ... at least here in Cape Coral.
I'm really interested in this battery for my 22 ft Robalo CC and was wondering how may hours of use you are getting. I'd be using in some pretty good current sometimes and windy conditions. I love in Destin directly on the Gulf.
I have the same battery for a Minn Kota Ulterra and was wondering about those cheap battery monitors on Amazon to check for voltage and how much is left. Have you installed a monitor and what was your setup?
... Nice clean looking job!
Question- Are all 36V lithium batteries the same dimensions? In my research I believe I looked at some that were smaller.
Small critique if may and you could have already found this out.
I believe since that battery is so long (wide), a strap on both ends would hold it more secure.
Seems to me the single center strap will allow the battery to move/spin.
Either way, hope all is well and you are enjoying the new technology.

Very informative. What was the white piece of material you used between the battery and the grates?
Just a bath mat with holes in it. Was $3 at Walmart.
Nice!!!🎉
Just wondering how your run time is with the 63AH compared to your old set up?
Run time is good because I go week 1/2 without plugging it up simple hook up two wires and done 👍👍 my advice leave those Chinese knot off alone I learn hard way 😞😞
How's battery going for Ya ?
Small wire ?
Do you have 8 AWG wire from the battery to the trolling motor? Have about the same size boat and distance to run the wires.
Yes it's all 8 awg wire. It's a straight shot the the motor so I'd say 15'.
@@CaptMattBudd awesome, thanks for the reply
Wicked ass battery went about 5hrs, battery is still 100% unheard of. Just using trolling motor the whole time. Glad i had that cheap guage installed, now i wonder if its a pos, battery should be down something. Volts dropped from .3 volts. Fucking bad ass battery, charge once a week, pays for itself instantly. Trolling motor is twice as fast
Is that 112lb trolling Motor? I want to install Minn Kota 112lb with same battery. Is the 63 Ah sufficient or should I go 3X 12V 100ah Dakota batteries for my 24' center console? Thanks.
Yes it's the 112lb thrust. My boat is 25' and it's been an amazing investment. I have yet to run out of juice on a trip yet. Used to happen daily with the old lead batteries.
How long are you usually on the water ?
How has that 63Ah battery lasted. How long are you able to run your trolling motor since they aren't charging off of the outboard?
I have never ran out of power in a single day. I’ve ran two charters back to back and 8+ hours on the battery without it dying.
Helo kawan.
Iam from indonesia.
Semoga sukses selalu.

Is 63 Ah the same as running your trolling motor for 36 hours?
No
WOW, constant spending huh? I guess the money ain't bad for a 11 yr warranty. Haven't made the expensive EZ button jump yet.
Wire looks small
Yea yea yea
