thank you for the support :D
James VS Cinema That ending had me sitting speechless. I watched it when I had a sick day from work on NetFlix and glad I did. I am also glad I didn’t see it in theatres since I have a lot of anxiety and I probably would have had to walk out due to how stressful this film is to sit through
Best film iv seen in a long time
Eric Bogosian who plays Arno wrote a book called Talk Radio which was later turned into a film directed by Oliver Stone, also starring Bogasian in the title role. Give it a watch, it rules.
I wish I could see this movie again for the first time. Probably the most shocking ending I've ever seen in any movie. Unforgettable.
Agreed my man! Took me way by surprise, that is until I saw The Lighthouse. Posting my first time reacting to that tomorrow...it was a trip to say the least 😂
@@JamesVSCinema Still haven't seen Lighthouse, but heard so much about it.
@@A-Dubs398 did you end up watching it yet? if so what did you think. im still yet to see it as apparently its a bit creepy which i dont handle so well haha
This one and The Departed
It was the perfect, bittersweet ending for Howard. He died winning the biggest bet of his life with a smile on his face. The man is never satisfied and always wants more which led him to his death. He can finally rest in peace.
Oh I agree! It’s the perfect tell for Howard that fits his shoe. It was a really awesome “day in the life” literally from the perspective of how he lived..up until his death. A beautiful tale that can be interpreted infinitely! I loved it!
"Nah, don't do that..."
What the audience says constantly throughout this movie😂
LMFAO. They never listen 😂
Seriously
💯🤣
Yes indeed. Adam Sandler may as well retire. He will never top this. He was truly robbed of a best acting nod and kudos to the Safdie Bros. for making a taut aggressive film that did not follow convention or disappoint.
I wonder if it isn't better to get snubbed sometimes, I already remember the snub better than the actual nominations
@@Milk88488 Right? Howie would never quit...
I mean he’s making another movie with them so he can definitely top it, he’s also a fantastic actor so if he decides to work with any other top tier director like PTA again maybe he could top it. He was stellar in this tho that’s forsure
“He seems to be in a pickle with these guys” sums up the entire movie right there
I had watched this movie as soon as it came out on Netflix, my reaction was the same. The whole movie just makes you feel so restless, there is something happening constantly. Absolutely enjoyed watching the movie man.
Exactly! Restless and anxious. Just a never ending spiral of insanity and I was like bruh...stop betting!! 😂
Yes, I love me some Uncut Gems reactions!
Haha it’s such a good film to react too!!
Felt this
@@MarcoMonroo Yeah, I try replying to all of them lol
The simplicity and meaning behind the ending scene is so groundbreaking. “From the universe we emerge and from the universe we shall descend”
i love how you caught on to how great the soundtrack is. its partially composed by an individual named daniel lopatin, known by his alias oneohtrix point never. a very important figure in electronic music. you totally nailed it with your comments about synth music. he also composed the score for good time by the safdie brothers if you ever find yourself checking that out!
crazy how he went from doing eccojams and jamming with james ferraro and other underground pals to getting on jimmy fallon and scoring films
I heard on a podcast with the safdie brothers that a lot of the bookies, diamond traders, the two goons and the guy in the heli are not actually actors but just playing some version of themselves.
That would make a lot of sense then haha!
Also Julia Fox is playing herself
This movie to me is about addiction. Of course specifically gambling addiction but the same goes for drug addiction. You're always running around looking for the next high and fucking up your family/home life. It shows how you can have basically 2 very different lives. Hes sympathetic as a character even though you get very frustrated with him. But its really makes you feel wha that it's like to be an addict in the sense of the panic and anxiety and having a dark cloud over your head. It's a hard movie to watch d
For some people cuz of how much of an anxiety inducing movie it is. My fav thing about this movie is how real it feels.
I fucked up watching it while having a full blown panic attack (it was a shit day), but I absolutely fell in love with it.
I had to sleep it off.
Bro, all your reactions were the same as mine when I watched it! The ending was BANANAS! Truly enjoyed this, thanks for adding some cheer to my day. Love you!
Love you more!! Happy many people seem to express some joy with these videos! They are really fun to make and give insight towards. Happy to brighten your day/night!
I can’t wait for the Safdie Brothers next original masterpiece!! Thank you for reacting! Just finished watching your reaction to GOOD TIME ⭐️
Love your videos man, and I freaking love film.
Good job! I love watching people freak out at the ending.
You deserve way more subscribers. Keep it up dude
That means a lot thanks! One day my friend, one day! 🙏🏽
Always come back to the different reaction videos you’ve made over the years hope you never stop doing this man
I appreciate that!
I loved this film, although I probably won’t watch this movie again due to how much it disturbed me the first time I saw it. This film is why I will NEVER gamble ever. It also taught me to never go crazy with money
This is one of those movies that I love, but can't ever see myself watching it again because of how stressful it was, and, of course, because of how abruptly it ends. I had just started rooting for Howie, and then he gets killed in such an abrupt way that I honestly had no idea how to feel about it.
the Safdie brothers don't have extras but everything is shot with real new yorkers just passing by. one of them actually spent a lot of time in the diamond district getting to know the people and how everything worked. concerning Sandler, they wanted to do this movie with him before Good Time but until Sandler watched that one he said yes.
Good stuff bro! If you haven't seen the Safdies' previous film Good Time I'd definitely recommend it. Robert Pattinson gives a great performance
Someone else had mentioned that movie too!! Definitely gotta watch it then. It’ll be a nice first reaction because this movie was insane!
This is true cinema art! Not just an empty movie as many. But a true experience. I realy enjoyed your reaction!
Like everyone that watched the film. We did not see that coming.
Hahaha very true!
What?!? Of course it was Very predictable, he was digging his own grave the ENTIRE MOVIE.. such a waste of time film but it does have an INTENSE POINT.
never watching that ever again.. 💩
Another great Adam Sandler drama is Reign Over Me.
Keep it up my man, i will be here for every single video you will bring out !
That is so much love seriously!! That means everything!! Thank you!
Every single person in the theater gasped and jumped at that ending. I can count on one hand the number of movies I've seen do that
The “i don’t even lend my diamonds in minecraft” line is so on point, that shit had me rolling!
Awesome video, loved what you had to say throughout
That’s awesome to hear! Happy to always add good insight throughout!
9:41 I love that perspective. I've occasionally seen/heard stuff like that outside my apartment window at different hours of the night. Always interesting to get those snapshots of drama in other people's lives.
Punch-Drunk Love is another great Adam Sandler film!
My buddy and I went and saw this in the theatre and we, along with half the theatre, audibly said "Holy SHIT!" at the ending. Such a great film.
I can see you becoming a big youtuber one day. I love this film so much
The Alpha Predator it was most definitely an awesome watch! And thank you! One day my friend, I’m just enjoying the ride
Thjs movie needs to be renamed 'Anxiety & Gambling Addiction Simulator'
Daaym another upload within 12 hours my man, really glad you enjoyed this I really recommend Good Time, it's the same directors/writers the safdie bros they're on another level bro Good Time is like Uncut Gems but on steroids I couldn't blink through most the movie and they're films always leave you feeling, keep it up man!
Damn that’s a description! On steroids? This movie was already anxious to watch so I can’t even imagine Good Time. Stay tuned for that reaction!!
@@JamesVSCinema My dude, Its an experience and if you love a good synth track it's the film for you, cant wait for more brother!
James VS Cinema definitely watch good time
James Miller actually did a reaction to it! Check it out 🙏🏽🎥
James VS Cinema Just saw it man!
one of my all time favorites. wish i had the chance to see it for the first time again
I’m so late to this party, having only watched this recently, but Christ, what an incredible movie with an even better soundtrack. I love seeing actors step out of their comfort zone and do something you wouldn’t expect, and Sandler nailed it here - proving that he’s capable of much more than most people think. That soundtrack though! It’s like Vangelis and Boards of Canada got together and created it. Gotta love Daniel Lopatin.
So glad I just found your channel. Love it. We also have similar taste in movies/shows. You have more knowledge about what's going on so it's great to another way of seeing stuff. Also couldn't recommend Peaky Blinders enough after seeing your channel. Keep it going dude!
If you liked this, you’re gonna LOVE “Good Time” from the Safdie Bro’s (also on Netflix) And for more Sandler dramatic roles, check out “Punch Drunk Love”
Reign On Me (absolutely amazing 👌🏼 Sandler drama)
When you mentioned overlapping dialogue I thought of Howard Hawks, that was his style of directing back when it was almost unheard of.
I'm going to see every film the Safdie brothers make after seeing this movie. Absolute masterpiece. Incredibly effective and original.
Don’t watch them back to back unless you intend to have a heart attack!
I love synthwave too. In fact people said my musical style is synthwave as well. I don't know about that.
This was out on Valentine’s Day and couples were NOT feeling that ending lol
Worth mentioning that the soundtrack for this and Good Time was made by Oneohtrix Point Never. Worth checking seeing as how you're into synth music.
I was jaw dropped for a good 3 minutes at the ending.
I just finished watching the film and I had to take a few minutes to calm down. I told my mom it's kinda like putting Drive & Phonebooth together if that makes sense. She could hear me yelling at the TV from the other room, I was absolutely speechless by the end. I love Adam Sandler and I didn't really see him in this, he became that character.
Oh and his performance in the scene where he breaks down after being beat up was gut wrenching. I think most of us can relate to that moment, it was just so raw.I haven't had a film get me that wound up since Heriditary.
Just found the channel keep it up man good luck to you
Thank you! Happy to have you along for the ride
What a godly microphone.
Ever since Click I've been hoping he'd find this perfect storm to shine in. This is such a ride.
for some reason that scene mid point in the movie when he came back to his apartment alone, when there was no dialogue and he just goes to bed, i said to myself 'oh shit, he's gonna die.'
OMG YES LOVED THIS FILM SO MUCH TENSION
Yeah haha whole film is chaos 💎
Reign over me is another amazing performance by Sandler and Don Cheadle
I really really wish I had seen this movie in theaters.
I’ve never been to NY but know some friends from there. I know I will go next year cause my cousin literally live next to it. This movie is good but Adam did a good job being serious
17:37 my exact reaction
The first time I tried to watch this, the mood made me too stressed out and I had to bail. But it’s a great film, and I’m glad I came back.
The two most anxiety-inducing movies I can think of are this and Requiem for a Dream.
The ending was like watching The Departed all over again. I deadass didn't see that shit coming at all lol
35mm film is unmatched ⭐️
It takes like 2-3 watches until you realize this was the IDEAL ending for Howard.
Also you know a movie is good when all this shit's happened yet the most tense moment is still watching people sit around watching sports.
I preordered cyberpunk the other day I can't wait till it comes out fell like I've been waiting for it for awhile.
Great movie. The ending is crazy but has several meanings. If you are reading this and have time it is very interesting to look into.
Good reaction bro 👍
Massive Studios Thank you!! This movie was definitely worth reacting too 💪
Great film. I'm baffled that Sandler is capable of giving such a great performance (which he did in Punch Drunk Love too) yet frequently makes the lowest common denominator "comedies" through his production company that are blatant cash-grabs. I can't figure this guy out.
He made a few funny movies in the 90s and got so famous he can make a “movie” by hanging out with his friends and going to tropical places and shit, dudes honestly living the dream
He’s also a producer on most of those movies too so I assume he made a lot of them just to make some more money and keep up with the lifestyle
they're f'n hilarious. not much to figure out. (anything after Grown Ups is trash tho)
Man, I can already tell you'd be into Gaspar Noe or Harmony Korine movies.
It seems like the movie's colors are derived from the opal.
Uncut gems is my favorite panic attack
Super intense movie. That ending was very effective, but I kind of expected it.
I literally just finished watching this film and I had to come to CZcams so I could find solace in someone else who also felt fucked up after watching this 😂
I think that the final shot not only represents the universe, but is actually showing the molecular journey through the center of the gem
I thought that as well. Like maybe this one just one of the many stories that belonged to the gem. Infinite like the universe. Appreciate this comment Rob love talking with you guys!
You could say Howard was a uncut gem. A rough exterior, but beautiful in the inside... never giving up and taking every chance given.
If you love cyberpunk, synthwave, EDM, etc.... You should definitely react to Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. Best cyberpunk movies of all time imo.
This was indeed shot on 35mm film.
Watch Good Time! Same directors! They shoot on film with both movies
Another movie where Adam Sandler gives a phenomenal performance is PUNCH DRUNK LOVE. I would like to see what you would have to say about that one. It is shot with color in mind and a beautiful soundtrack to accompany the emotion. Please check it out!
He never does because, he watches a bunch of random shit and he does not watch movies that people tell him what he should watch because, we all know that he watches movies that people tell him to watch on his own time when the cameras are not on.
*"Now he belongs to the ages."*
- War Sec. Edwin Stanton,
after Pres. Abraham Lincoln's assassination
*"Now he belongs to the stars-the universe in a bullet hole."*
- Me,
after finishing _Uncut Gems_
Ending was the perfect example of no honor among thieves, the hired muscle shot Howard and then turned against his boss
I have not seen this movie and ngl I've come to believe a certain stigma about adam sandler movies, but this? this physiological shit is exactly that type of stuff I like and im shocked that it stars sandler. you put this on my radar !! gotta see the full thing myself now
Yes! Yes and yes! He knocked it out the park with his acting on this one. Everything in this film was so well crafted from the music to the camera work to the dialogue. Had to cut out ALOT in this one so you'll be doing yourself a favor watching the full movie!
James VS Cinema This movie is such a masterpiece. Sandler was snubbed.
I'm late to this video (only saw the movie last week) but if you enjoy synths (and I know you're into camera moves), you need to see It Follows, if you haven't already.
YOU STILL NEED TO WATCH "PUNCH DRUNK LOVE"!!! I NOTICED IT ISN'T IN YOUR UPLOADS ;)
This one woke me up🥵
I do not suffer from anxiety attacks or have anxiety that I know of, but if I did, this movie feels like it is the definition of anxiety. It just kept getting worse throughout the entire movie as he dug the hole deeper and deeper ...
I seen this thing that kinda makes Sense that this his the happiest ending for howard he did happy and a winner if he lived he would probably kept betting and the cycle was gonna just keep going
Yup. He would’ve just used the money to dig an even deeper hole for himself, and then die sad, alone, and unfulfilled. This way he was at least ecstatic in his final moments. He just wasn’t the type of guy who could live normally.
I knew it would be good but it TRULY blew me away, my only gripe with the film is i felt the soundtrack didn't fit, at first because of the music and visuals of the gem I thought it was going to be taking a supernatural route, thought maybe the soundtrack should have had more of a underground feel to it like the film. But I was able to tune it out not long into the movie so it didn't hurt my experience it just didn't quite sit right in the rest of the film. But what really got me is as a filmmaker I knew he was going to die by the end, it's how I would have written the story as well, and yet STILL nonetheless my heart dropped and hurt and I was filled with anger because even though he deserved it, they did such a good job of still making you happy he finally won.
most anxiety inducing movie ever.... the goal of the writer's was basically to have you screaming at the screen the whole time "DON"T DO THAT!!".... and it worked
a great depiction of a downward spiral that is SELF INDUCED... the tragedy of being a man CHASING... so to speak....you get the false highs until the movie finally trains you to understand that no matter what it WILL GET WORSE
i watched it in 3 or 4 segments.... it was too much for me
Not Important I can definitely understand why you had too! It gets pretty intense the more you watch it. Well executed so I commend them for telling such a great anxiety induced story! Appreciate your comment too!
When it was over I felt like I needed to take a Xanax and skip town
Welo opals are gorgeous - I buy them in bulk from Ethiopia, and sell them to jewelers. They were discovered not too long ago! But yeah, the Jew (I'm a Jew as well) gem//jewelry business is very much like this film.
This was so stressful, it’s probably the only time saying I definitely could not watch this a second time as a compliment
It’s called Uncut JAHMZ
I'll be honest, I walked out of the theater about halfway through this one. Whatever the goal of the audio aesthetic of the film was going for, it just made it such an unpleasant experience for me. And not in a way I wanted. It was like watching a film where every frame was out of focus. I love a lot of out-there films, but this one bounced off me hard.
17:35
Watch good time
Weirdly, Demany was my favorite character in the entire film.
Bro punch love drunk is an amazing movie from adam sandler I really recommend it
I’ll have to put that on the next patreon poll for sure!
@@JamesVSCinema hell yeah 🔥🔥
17:28 The most unexpected ending in the world.
Nice video bro, and this is a great movie also as we say in here Adam Sandler "se sacó la polla", you should do taxi driver, Schindler's list, fury, la vita e bella, Donnie Darko, and I don't know bro beauty on the screen
Actually did a video on taxi driver so stay tuned for that!
"Oh boy yeah"
-spiderman 2
here is were the fun begins
How are you able to put ads on this when this movie is by far copyright? This needs to be ad free
Not at all how CZcams works. Hahaha they still make money from the video.
Okay y'all I loved the movie but Julia Fox man man man she dumb thick🤧👌❤️
Howard obviously had a gambling addiction. And addictions can get you killed.
If you wanna touch on tv shows watch the Greatest Television Show of all time "Breaking Bad."
Nearly every character was supremely unlikable but still an experience nonetheless,
Shocking ending but I guess if you’re gunna go out it might as well be on a high.
Why are people so shocked by the ending, did they think he was just going to let them out and they would give him a hug?
Getting shot in the face isn’t exactly normal lmao
