Just a small token of my appreciation…Thanks so much for all your fun and inspirational videos , Denise!
Eeekkk!! You've really made my day! Thank you!! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio 👏👏
Irene not Tom. Love how you find beauty in everything. Scary moments in this
one but you created wonderful art once again. New mantra is trust Denise.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🥰
Just love it Denise. I always get excited when you post a new video.
Oh thank you! 🥰
😂 Ms Denise, you inspire me so much, but ... right now... before you add the white paint, I had to stop, take a screenshot of the "before" stage, make a coffee ☕ & mentally prepare for the next SCARY step. 😂 I do this for my own work, too.
What you want to achieve I think I am tracking completely. Fingers 🤞 crossed you have the secret sauce to make it happen. I may have to finish the video with one eye closed 😅
Haha!! It was such a scary moment!! 😁😆🎨
"I'm a little skurd of that color!" lmao....classic. You might be the most fun and informative and, most importantly, beginner friendly abstract painting tutorial on CZcams! You rawk Denise!
I appreciate that! 🎨🎨🎨Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Your enthusiasm is a hoot, childlike and conspiratorial! Love it and the process of these abstracts!
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
Denise inspired me to get a bundle of fan brushes that have been in my makeup cabinet collecting dust, and while there, I went ahead and grabbed 5 or 6 various makeup brushes: blush, powder, eyeshadow, blenders, contour…. (I was a makeup artist once upon a time). I gotta tell you, makeup brushes are awesome for painting. They hold A LOT of fluid, though, so easy does it. Also, they shouldn’t be too cheap in terms of quality or they’ll shed. But, if you don’t want to invest too much on paint brushes yet, and you have extra makeup brushes, I recommend giving them a shot.
What a great idea, I have tons of make up brushes!
Such a great tip to go looking around the house for things that could be used in your art, especially in our makeup drawers! Thank you!! 😊
Girl, you are a star🤩🤩😍 You are so much fun💖!! I am MAD ABOUT STENCILS!!! When you grabbed those stencils, I nearly fell over🥴🥴! When I saw your background, I said "Denise, that is screaming for stencils!" I cannot draw a stick, but I can fake it with some stencils!😄😄
I’ve been obsessed with using stencils in the layers lately!! So. Much. Fun!! Haha! Thank you! ☺️
I just stumbled upon your channel. I am in love with your tutorials and your happy painting. I am currently binge watching everything you got!
So glad you are enjoying the videos!! Thank you 🥰
I just get so excited about painting every time I watch you paint!!! Ty soooooo much ❤❤❤
You are so welcome! 🥰🥰🥰
You do very inspiring videos, Denise. I think I am pretty much caught up now, so looking forward to new ones. Thanks for experimenting with all of us.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Me too….I love her videos ♥️🩷♥️……!!!!!
Denise!!!! I was roaring with laughter. When you said "What stencil should I use" and you took the one with the larger squares, I was here going 'No-no...take the flowers first' and then you went "Ohhh maybe the flowers". I thought hahaha. Nearer the end when you said "Oh, oh, know what I'm thinking of'" I said 'gold' but you chose the bright green. The surprise was when you said "You thought I was going to say gold, didn't you". I roared with laughter. My hubby came in the room wondering what was going on. 😂
Hahaha!! That’s too funny!! 😂😁🎨🥰
Denise starts laughing, I start laughing, the paintbrush starts jiggling, it's all part of the art!!! I just love all these videos. Yes I loved your studio tour and ran out and ordered drawers etc to semi copy your studio. You are the best inspiration.
Haha!! I love that! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh Denise you scared me with that white stripe. I just love your art and when you say I need you to vote I totally speak to my screen as if I’m a kid. You are a breath of fresh air thank you for your fabulous videos.😮
That was a scary moment!! 😂.. I'm glad you were voting on which way to go!! I love that. Thank you!! 🥰
Loved this palette. It turned out so pretty. Have a great day.😊
Thank you! You too! 🥰
My heart just jumped a hundred beats when the stripe of white went down, lol. I kinda yelled NOOOO, and my husband thought I fell. When I showed him why I was yelling, he laughed, saying you do crazy in your art sometimes too. LOL its just paper i tell myself. I sat and made some really great and not so great backgrounds yesterday. But i cut stuff up and am enjoying them so much more. Im such a perfectionist, but this intuitive painting skillshare classes, really have me letting go. Ive watch different artists for years doing this but you have me hooked!! I think its the bright colors. Yes i love distress darker colors but im so into the bright colors.
Haha!! I love that you were yelling at the screen!! That was a scary moment!! 😂 Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
@Denise Love YES, YES it was.....lol
LOVE THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited when you did the white paint. I was yelling at the screen! Then when you cut them up - MASTERPIECES!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have to try the "artist sponges". I use makeup sponges I get in quantity from the dollar store (the white wedgy ones).
Oh yeah - those white sponges are great too! I love that you were yelling at the screen!! That was a scary moment!! 😂😂😂 Who knew those paints still reacted with paint on top? That was cool to learn! 😊
I love all your videos…but this one is a favorite. I’ll be watching again and again! So much inspiration! ❤
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
I LOVE the fact that you get so excited!!
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank goodness for stencils; they always save the day❤😂😊
Right? Haha! 😊
I love those. I think I'd have added just a few marks with a touch of black. Well done.
Thank you! ☺️
Loved how these turned out AND.... your nail polish totally matched the pics!!💥❤️❤️❤️
They did!! Lol! Thank you! ☺️
I love your fun nature. I take my pieces and cut them up and make cards people love them.
Such a good idea. Send a little bit of art to cheer someones day! 😊
I like the way you are brave enough to take risks in your paintings. It is the best way to learn.
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, that one had its scary moments but the result was fantastic, thank you for sharing Denise 😊
Yes it was! Thank you! 🥰
I love that you will experiment and go with whatever happens.
Thank you! 😊
That white was scary but came out great. You are so right- you have to be brave.
Totally scary! LOL!! Thank you 😊
Denise you are right about the gold!
Gold is amazing 😁😁😁
You crack me up Denise!!! It’s like watching a comedy show😂😂😂
Haha!! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Denise, these pieces rock, as well as your enthusiasm. LOVE these so much 🎉 TFS your play day with us. xo
Thanks so much! 🥰
My jaw dropped when you put the white paint down, but these came out fantastic! Love these! ❤️
That was scary!! LOL!! Thank you! ☺️
That was SO much fun, thanks Denise.
You are so welcome! 🥰
I'm sure this is my favorite video. WOW!
Thank you!! 🥰
Thanks again!! I freaked out when you put down the white. Thought you might try to redeem it with some scraping marks. What can I say, you knocked it out of the park with 3 beautiful pieces. You are so much fun to watch!! I think I need a sign at my desk that says "BE BRAVE" Love you Denise!!
That white was a scary moment! 😂 You’re the best. Thank you! 🥰
Oh my gosh, Denise - when you put that line of white paint down, I felt like I was at the top of a roller coaster waiting for the drop! These are gorgeous! Also - I did manage to find the stone stencil you used today - thanks for telling me where to look!)
Right?! that was truly a scary moment!! LOL!! Thank you! 😊
Your enthusiasm is contagious and the results amazing! Even when you added the white you stayed with the process and enthusiasm. A great lesson! ❤️
Thank you so much! 🥰
Omgsh! I love this!
About that white paint... I was literally, out loud saying - No! No don't do it! But then you totally made lemonade from it! You're my art hero! ❤️
Haha!! I love that you were trying to tell me NO!! 😂. Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much Denise. I am totally gobsmacked!!!!!!!!!!! when you spread that white across the page, I thought that's the end of that. completely ruined???? How wrong I was, I think the finished pieces are fabulous and stunningly beautiful too. ♥♥♥♥I absolutely adore them all. Ive subscribed and given you a like too. Please stay safe and well too
That was a scary moment!! But I like what we got too! Thank you! ☺️
Great way to start my day! I was like NOooooooooo to the white paint BUT Love IT. You make art so fun. Learnings 'I'm going to be brave"
That was a scary moment!! 😂 ... Thank you!! 🥰
Being brave pays off! Thank you for all of your inspiring videos. I am collecting supplies and can't wait to try out this style soon!
Not gonna lie.. that was scary! But turned out good in the end!! Thank you 🥰
Hello Denise , j’ài découvert ta chaîne et je suis fan ! aujourd'hui j’ai peint avec toi , enfin j’essaie !😅
So glad you painted with me!! Thank you!! 🥰
I love this. I’m so excited when I see a new video of yours when I sit down to create.
Yay!! So glad you paint with me! Thank you! 🥰
OMG... I had a lot of fun with you today until you put that line of white... my gosh.. I almost fainted... hahahahaa I was thinking gold or black and you almost kill me when you said and did put white. But you know better: It turned out beautiful!!! Once again your talent and enthusiasm are amazing! One thing I wanted to let you know: I live in a country where some of this articles are hard to find and quite expensive to bring from abroad so watching you experimenting with them helps me understand what to use without waisting them. Thank you so much for that! As always, it was great spending time with you! Hugs from Chile
Hahaha!!! You almost fainted... me too!! 😂 That was a scary moment!! So glad watching gives you an idea about what art supplies you might like before you buy a bunch! Thank you!! 🥰
Always love what you do and the joy you have in doing it.
Thank you!! 🥰
You make me want to be really brave with my abstract art. Thanks 🎉
You can do it! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Fearless!! Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!! 😊
Hi Denise! I'll admit, you had me holding my breath in fear of the white paint drag across the canvas! But you soldiered on and those pieces turned out really well. I learned something very valuable about pushing through with a technique even if I think it's starting to fail. Things can be recovered nicely in the end! Thank you for that lesson!
That was a scary moment!! 😂😂😂… but I think to myself… it’s only paint… and I’m going to cut this up into something good… and that helps me push through the ugly stage 😊
Love this!! That one flower stencil is The Crafters Workshop, and I believe it's called "flower frenzy" - I've been eyeballing that one for a while but haven't gotten it yet..... Yet.... Going to order it now.... LOL 😂 ❤️✝️🌹✝️❤️
I found it after the video. I try to find and link them all after if I can find them. I really like that one.. you should go ahead and get it!! 😁
No rules. Nothing is "wrong" in art. Even "disasters" can turn into WOW art! Loved this! But when you started to spread that white paint, I thought...oh no! LOL! How's she gonna fix THIS?! Ya did it!
That was a scary moment! 😂 Thank you! 🥰
I just love your happy personality! You are helping me to be brave and take the leap with my art. Sometimes it's a bit lonely creating in my room but you just light up my art sessions and it helps to know I am not the only one who feels this way when taking a risk with my art.
So glad you are hanging out with me! Really makes my day. Thank you!! 🥰
I love your enthusiasm 🎉
Really enjoying your tutorials! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!! 🥰
Okay, you so freaked me out with the line of white paint. While I know that the sprays remain water reactive unless sealed it never occurred to me that they would react to the paint. I am glad the did because that made the paintings for me, and I will think of you every time I use it!!!
That was a scary moment!! 😂... and who knew they kept reacting even with paint on top!! So good to know!! Thank you!! 🥰
Denise - today I received my calligraphy nib and #4 brush! Gonna be a very interesting few days trying them out. Good luck to me
Good luck!! 😊
Thanks and very much appreciate form me to provide a creative art 🎨 work.I Love your exclaiming style of laugh.
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
Zinc white is a transparent white. I'd go for that option. But holy heck, it's nerve wracking to watch!
I tell you every art day is a good day! You pushed right on through the white smear!! Love them, great job!
That WAS such a scary moment… definitely push through it. 😂 Thank you! 🥰
I use Tim holtz distress oxides and stains on my paper craft projects all the time if you want it to oxidize more using your dryer will help that…
I’ve been getting into your intuitive painting a lot lately
Great tip!! Thank you! 😊
Like someone else, I was saying no to adding white paint! You really had a lesson for us who don’t want to step out of the box! Results were great! 27:40
This was a fun project! I like experimenting with something I wouldn’t normally do! Thank you! 🥰
Denise, I love the way you had something unexpected happen but you continued to resolve the work rather than abandoning. I am learning a lot about mixed media from your videos! Do you put any sealer or fixative on top of your pieces before using them? I am new to this and feeling very inspired to play!
Really depends on what I use on the paper as to if I finish it with spray. If it has soft pastels or oil pastels - then I use the Sennelier fixative for pastels. Otherwise you have issues with the pastels. If I don't use anything like that - I don't usually use a finish spray. I store in clear art sleeves or frame them. You can use the Krylon artist sprays if you want a good one. Gamvar is good for oil paintings. I'll do a finish video soon showing the options I use. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio Thanks so much. I am hoping not to use a spray sealer, but if I break out my pastels know I will need to use some type of fixative. Looking forward to the video on finishing! I really love your commentary and your enthusiasm in your videos. ❤️
Yikes! Can’t wait to see what you do❤
Fun stuff!! 😁
I recently discovered your channel and I love your work. You are very inspiring and so easy to follow and understand. You truly have a teacher’s heart! Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much! 🥰
What a cool happy accident. Those sprays are fun!
They are fun... I didn't realize they would keep reacting with paint on top! Good thing to learn on play pieces! 😊
I love your style and your art is beautiful!!
Thank you! 🥰
The 3 pieces you ended up with are beautiful! Distress oxide paints/inks are water reactive and they will leach through whatever you put on top, even gesso. It was a cool effect though 💕
That was certainly a good lesson to learn! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
This is a perfact piece Denise..
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
I love love that you tried somtehing new! It's so nice to see artists winging it in real time because its such a reality. Oh and the music in this video was so groovy, it made me chuckle! Also, I just did a experiment/collab piece on my channel and it ended up pretty cool. I took a huge risk and now wanting to take more! You are amazing and thanks so much for being real on your channel. Love your work too!
Thank you!! 🥰 .. I don't like watching voice over videos personally... they tend to be kinda dull and unexciting... you don't know what people were thinking, what struggles they had, how the moved on to the next thing they did, why they made those choices. So I decided when I started this channel a few months ago and posting every week that I would make art in real time and solve challenges as I go... people need to see that we all have struggles in art and how to push past the ugly. My style won't be for everyone, and that's ok... So glad you enjoy it!! 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio so true, I have done a few of those videos. My goal is to work into live action creating. My next video is going to be one! 😊
You can heat set the Distress Oxide spray colors with a heat gun. It will make them permanent. You can even use other colors of distress oxide sprays in layers. Heat set between layers.
Oooh! Great tip! Thank you! ☺️
That white was scary but turned out great!
It was!! LOL! Thank you!! 😊
Wow adding the White was so stressful 😅😅😅 but wow it turned out really nice I love the result
It WAS stressful!! haha.. Thank you!! 🥰
I just saw saw your video and I AM getting so inspireret and want to continue my own art ❤️❤️and pick som of your tips and tricks in Them too. Thank you so much from europe- scandinavia- denmark.👩🎤❤️
I'm so glad! Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
How beautiful are your works! I felt a little sad today and now I find myself on your happy site, which inspires me for future achievements! Can I become your friend? 😊From Quebec, Canada, thank you!
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰🥰
OMG I had to pause after you put all that white on!! You said what do we need? And I actually blurted out loud, you neeeeddd to get that white off that page 😅😅😅 ok, I’m going back to watch more lol
hahahaha!! That made me laugh!! I was kinda thinking... hmmmmm... should I scrape this back off. 😂
Love❤
Thank you! 🥰
Fantastic ❤❤❤
Thank you! 🥰
Thanks!
Eeeek! You’ve really made my day! Thank you! 🥰
Hi Denise, love your videos and enthusiasm! Find myself laughing when you make those surprised sounds! I was wondering, where did you get the disposable pallet paper?
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
Denise, have you tried any of the products from Powertex? They are amazing! I recently got the Powerwax, which is so incredibly versatile: can be mixed with acrylics, powder pigments, other mediums, you name it. It would have been perfect for the white layer you had in mind. ❤
Very interesting - I've not ever heard of it! I'll have to check that out!! Thank you! 😊
Those turned out great! Not gonna lie...I panicked when you did the first swipe of white! I am sad the Distress Oxide Sprays are not lightfast because they are super cool!!
Those sprays are definitely more for crafts. But it was still fun to experiment with them. I wouldn't use them for fine art pieces. The reactive inks I just got with Sketchbox this month are very similar though and this reminds me of those. (from this video: czcams.com/video/Uy-m1AzAnxU/video.html)
@@2lilowlsstudio definitely fun! They are very cool!
I would like to have your gold paint? What is it?

So glad! 💃🏻🕺🏻
I'm yelling....add more layers on all that white!!😂😂😂
Haha!! I love it 😁
I am new to your ha. el. Love your approach. You are an excellent tutor. I have tried your ideas amid have learned a lot. Have you ever used gilding flakes I have a gold with pieces of bronze and turquoise ,. They are fantastic. 🌸
I have gilding flakes... and the sheets... but i like the Mica Paste and Ink I've been using better. Easier to control and no glue involved. But I might get them out and play.. they are fun too! 😊
@@2lilowlsstudioyes please show us how to use gilding flakes…..♥️♥️♥️
Found it in the list of supplies, lol. Should have looked there first!
Lots of people asked me that - so I started listing it for you guys 😊
Just wondering what you do with all your finished 5x7's...do you make cards with them? They look amazing!
Most of them I keep since I make videos, I might want to photograph them or pull out examples. Cards is a great use for some of these! Some I frame and hang up too. 😊
Beautiful!! I’ll admit that the air got sucked out of my lungs when the white went on, but wow!!
Denise, what do you use as a fixative? Do you use one just for watercolors and another for mixed media? TIA!
That was a scary moment!! 😂 Thank you!! 😊
Really depends on what I use on the paper as to if I finish it with spray. If it has soft pastels or oil pastels - then I use the Sennelier fixative for pastels. Otherwise, you have issues with the pastels. If I don't use anything like that - I don't usually use a finish spray. I store them in clear art sleeves or frame them. This is amazing,,, ❤ xxxxx
Thank you!! 🥰
Too Cool!!!😎
Thanks for sharing!!!
Have you ever tried brusho crystal powders yet? I just got some & I ♥️ them & I think you will too.
Thank you! 🥰
🤩
Thank you! ☺️
I just freaked out when you put the white on there, but I knew you would be able to fix it. I was right beautiful as always what kind of acrylic paint should I get? I was looking at arteza and gen craft??
Right?!? That was scary! Lol! I use the Liquitex white the most. I really like it! 😊
I was just thinking as I’m watching you create, and I don’t remember which video you used some mark making tool that had grooves, but it occurred I could create some of those with old credit cards or store cards. Once in awhile I get a “temporary” credit card or something like that can also be repurposed to cut grooves or waves for mark making tools.
Those would be perfect!! I live using old cards for stuff like that! 😊
I say this with all the love in my heart! "you are a nut." Lol
Right? 😂😂😂 I’m a nut! 🥰🥰🥰
So beautiful! Can you please tell me what the name of the squares stencil is that you used after the flower one? It's at the 9:22 min. mark. I don't see it listed above.
That one is from stencil girl: www.stencilgirlproducts.com/stencil-Gridlock-Seth-Apter-p/s921.htm
At the beginning when all the ink was wet, I really wanted to drag some watercolour pencils through it.
That would have been fun! 😊
Denise - how do you store your stencils? Playing with different solutions but haven’t found the perfect one yet.
I just have mine in a clear tote with a lid that is a little bigger than a shoe box. Works ok. 😊
I just ordered the kakimori brass nib. Will any holder work, or do you need the specific holder to go with it? Thanks Denise 😊
I don’t think just any holder will do. It is is a stiff fixed circle and other nibs are kinda flexible. You might reach out to St Louis art if you didn’t order one of the kakimori holders to see if any others will fit.
I did order the holder I just hope it's the right one. I did follow the link in your bio. Thanks
I tried the fixatif but had no luck with it. The water reactive ink/spray still reacted to “new” water. Idk if I didn’t get enough on it or should have tried more than one coat, but I couldn’t get it to stop reacting. If you find something that works, PLEASE post. TFS.
I say don't finish it with a spray. I don't finish most pieces. Just if it has pastels on top. I mostly store them in clear art sleeves til framing.
I struggled to watch this video because the image kept going in and out of focus. Still the end result is gorgeous.
Sorry!! I don't think I had the focus fixed like I usually do. I try to triple check that. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio No problem. Still a great video. My brain struggles when this happens.
Sorry another comment lol all his sprays will turn any light paints and pens to there color
That was definitely an interesting thing to learn! I'm glad I did that 😊
Hi Denise, I love your channel! You are the ray of sunshine in my life! Just thought I would mention a Liquitex product
called Transparent Mixing White. I love this for using with stencils as it gives your white a more ghosting colour of white as compared to a straight white. So if I am not sure white is right - I use this.
@@arleenbarnes1185 Thank you! ☺️
You are quickly becoming everyone's favorite to watch! I get so excited seeing a notification pop up for you! After watching your amazing videos, I started trying to create my own paintings, and I am having so much fun! I don't know if I'll ever be as brave as you! 🫣😂
