Watching this video is basically getting a 5 kyu power-up.
Been losing all night, first at go club, then on OGS. I need this tonight, thank you.
you're basics has been a life saver in learning Go. I've only been playing for a month but after I found your videos I've started losing less and less. you must be some kind of god
Thank you for the DDK love. It's funny because after you started your first game I thought "He didn't mention responding to shoulder hits, attachments and caps..." ... then you were like "Yeah, that."
I appreciate you reminder of the ideas of the basic play style and looking for large moves. Great way to start the new year.
Probably the most useful vid series I've seen. I have a lot to learn but I really feel like some things are starting to click. Thanks for the amazing work you do!
This video taught me a lot thanks
I appreciated how you explained why ignoring the possible hane at the head of 2 was ok at 15:57. It's sometimes difficult to tell when to respond to common shapes and when to ignore

Man I love your videos! It’s so helpful! And made me see things I haven’t saw before thank you 🙏 if I may add if you can add elementary when you also mentioned like small knights and those things that are not familiar so much that can even more awesome, but any way thank you for doing those elementary videos 🙏
Great recap of the basics. Thank you very much
Excelente amigo, muchas gracias, lo pondremos en acción!
Let's play a ddk... I don't want to kill him unless he really forces me to... and now when you push here, the eye will pop out, see? ... oh look, he protected himself, how cute, I like it! ... ow, he didn't see that his limb is about to fall off, let's show him...
Thanks Dwyrin, this video was perfect. And the blood was not an issue, I believe and I can see the basics anyway.
I love this episode. I wonder... What does Basics vs. Basics look like?
3:55 you will rise from 20k to 10k really fast by sacrificing such small fights (1 stone) and getting large points as a compensation (corner for example, which can be 10 or 50 points)
Hmmm... 36:36 This is shrinking and ours is growing. THE TERRITORY, OF COUSE...
am always amazed at how easy you make it look to beat a 7k player. But had I been playing the second game I probably wouldnt have manage dto kill either group on left or right and would have lost
When you're 10+ ranks better than your opponent you immediately see the flaws in shape and the plain mistakes. Of course it looks easy because if you know how to respond correctly the game is decided. You're 7k yourself? Try it with a 15k player and it's the same thing ^^ This is also a good method to see if you really have understood the basics. But don't crush too many 15k now XD
@Mike true. And this super lesson mainly + your comment helped me win my first game against a 11k ( there s a beginning to anything).
That's cause a lot of players try to build off a weak foundation then watch as complicated patterns collapse their play, or how someone trying to learn how to fight before learning how to stand just winds up in the dirt, or a lot of other analogies that could be inserted here. With a proper foundation, you can do this, too.
I'd like to see more of what this Joe you often mention is all about as Mr Seki has much to offer. Perhaps the taisha or small/ large avalanche. Maybe a mokuhazushi opening? Grin 😀
@dwyrin Thank you for this lesson. I have been a beginner from go on and off.
There has been one element of go that has been hard for me to grasp and hard for my friend who I am trying to teach go (in order to have them play with me hehehe) How to count a game of go?
I have always found some ways reading books, but I can never really really understand. Have you done a video about how to end a game and count points? I find that unfortuantely I cannot find someone teaching that point in a way I can understand on youtube.
Why did you ignore the cutting point at G14 in game 1? Because you have F12?
Where do you play online? What online go server is this?
even though i know the basics sometimes i just like to pretend im a totally new player and i try to imagine im learning it for the first time
What you call a shoulder hit isn't really a shoulder hit though, more like an armpit hit
ah I wish you wouldn't make that clicking sound with you tongue so often. It lmakes unbearable for me to listen to. It's too bad because the content is very informative
