    We cut our bars at the number two marking and its perfect. We also made the right side drill hole more rectangular to match the knub. We started with small bits and worked up. It took longer then expected but it was a perfect fit.
    Like the vids brotha 👍🏽

    Awesome video! Much appreciated as this will be a great reference for when I install my Yoshimura tail tidy. Should be getting that call from the dealer any day now!

    Man can’t wait till my local dealer gets my 2023 grom at the end of the month 🤞. I already purchased all my parts including the same pro taper bars. That pipe cutter hack you did I’m gonna copy 👍🏻.

    Already looking great brother! I went with Renthal Lows because it seems like EVERYONE else is doing pro tapers or clip ons. I love my Renthal handlebars but I can’t deny that the Pro Tapers look great.

    Cool mod i did on my gen 2 grom was use the tinted lens glass from a cb500 which use the same indicators, then used a 2 pin flasher unit and l.e.d bulbs which give you white driving lights that are always on but flash orange when you indicate left or right, gives more visibility at the front having 3 white lights and the tint looks grey instead of goofy orange.

    I presume they are the KLX110 Protaper Bars? I went with the XR50 Pro Taper bars! they are much higher! more akin to stock! but they were difficult to fit and there was not enough room each side before the bars began to bend! so the levers were on a bit of an angle! I fitted them after watching another guy on CZcams recommending them! but his install video I think hid the same problems I was having! he should have highlighted the fact because of the short length each side the stock levers would be unusable! but by me putting shorty levers on I sorted out most of the problems! The stock levers were way off and unusable with the XR50 Bars! Especially the clutch lever! Although I like the look of mine now! I would recommend watching your installation videos which give a more honest view and opinion on installing the modification accessories available! Other people then fit risers to your Pro Taper bars lifting them up a little!

      These are the ProTaper Seven Eighths (SE) model for Honda Minis. It’s a great profile and height for a bar. It seems that cutting to the “2” mark is as far as you can cut this and still fit the controls on the straight part of the bar.

      @christophercoffin6126 Před 2 lety +1

      I have the same problem with my XR50 I was trying to keep the same height as stock with a better looking profile. I’m looking for something different as well the klx110 are too short and too wide for my wife’s liking.

      So the ones on the video are the pro tapper XL R 110, am my correct? Basically what's the model number on the yellow bike protaper handle bars?

  • @reidspeed77

    You may know this but protaper make a XR50 bar, thay are same length as the stock and higher,no Risers needed,
    thay are spot on man✌

    These are the first two mods I'm making to my 2022. The fender eliminator kit should be here tomorrow. That's priority for me. Great video, I only wish you had shown how you spliced into the existing harness to connect the license plate light wires but I'm sure that's not a big issue. Later next week I should get my bars, the KLX 110 version of the Pro taper

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před 2 lety

      I showed cutting them off (the green (negative) and black (positive) wire that connected to the stock light) - I then crimped bullet connectors on the stock harness and on the Yoshi license plate light so that I could easily connect and remove them. The kit comes with 2 pieces of solder connectors where you can just use a lighter to melt the solder and heat shrink it at the same time, it's a great solution (just not really removable after you do it once).

      @@eastcoastish okay thanks for the response. Actually once I looked at the instructions that came in the box it was clear. I just used the provided connectors. I would rather have used bullets but didn't want to delay the installation. I did leave some extra wire so if I ever have to snip it I could then go to bullet connectors. Can I ask who did you have powder coat your wheels? They look great

    How did u Measure to know exactly where the holes go

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před rokem

      The controls open in half, so I put it where it lines up with the grips and everything else and then use a razer blade to score the bar where I need to drill the hole for the nub. This is definitely one of those measure twice, drill once scenarios :)

  • @davidcoughlin6669

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před 2 lety

      This material is so thick, you could redrill the hole if you needed to and the bar would be fine 😃

  • @roybeckett4118

    Shouldn't have to do any cutting or drilling, pro taper should do all the necessary requirements.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před 2 lety +1

      Since people prefer different lengths though and different bar positions, the holes would vary, although maybe they should offer a “standard” option for those that don’t want to customize.
