Please do a new review on a Boot that will be able to with stand "not melt" against my exhaust . My right heel comes into contact with my exhaust and melts instantly - Additionally , I would like to be able to walk somewhat comfortably once I get to my destinations. I've damaged several different brands of boots. Please help me.
Where is the review of Hisea boots?
They make the best safety toe boots. Fuel tanker operators favorite.
Instead of cutting up the laces, I think you should start testing the durability of all the moc toe laces. Even among high end boots, the quality varies.
Most of us just replace our laces with military paracord or leather laces. Durability varies at that point due to how tight you lace your boots. I have met people who have had the same leather laces for 10+ years when mine tend to snap in 6 months to two years at most. Nylon probably around a year or two. Paracord I've never used since you have to knot them a certain way.
@@VultainI replace my laces AFTER the originals fail. It's definitely relevant information.
Yeah, it's very rare that I already have extra laces just lying around that are the correct size even though I sometimes pull older ones out of used boots and use those up first.
and by size, I don't just mean length but also width with some of those eyelets, etc.
Why do you care if your laces are rated for 15lbs or 1,500lbs
You know, the fact Georgia had something to send you in order to explain their strength and abrasion lingo really means a lot. That they’re able to provide a context for the marketing claim where most of these claims come out of thin air and are only vague buzzwords to try and sound impressive without being a legal liability is pretty cool.
Definitely feel this, at the very least they have something to back it up and that they do appear more corrosion resistant, while also having some features that show that they put thought into getting what they can out of the materials, these seem like a good boot and a fine company
I definitely enjoyed the "Good, Bad and the Ugly" format. For a low cost moc toe that will be used in a wet environment it seems like an excellent choice.
Here I was expecting these to not be that good, but there's actually some impressive design/construction here for this level of boot. For bein a cheaper foam boot, they put a lot of thought into it.
I work at a fertilizer plant that deals with lots of phos acid and other acids. My work gets us boots every 6months and Georgia boots seem to hold up the best. Iv tried every brand out there, next in line I’d say is redwing.
I have these exact boots. Going strong well over a year now. Still haven’t wore through the counter cover and have been very comfortable right out of the box. Quite happy with them but agree the plastic cover on the heel is kinda weird. I’d recommend them to ppl on concrete floors all day
How’s the sizing compared to the Georgia wedge work boots, the ones without the insole?
@@_gw33do_ sorry haven’t had a different pair so can’t give you sizing feedback. They are true to size as compared to other shoes and work boots I have owned .
Georgia boots were my first "not from the exchange" boots when I was in the military. They were so comfortable and worked great as my daily boot. I wore them for a couple of years before I got out.
I've been working as a valet for years, I'm on my second pair of Chelsea Georgia Boots... They are very comfortable, 3+ years on the originals wore a hole in one outsole so I got another set for the PNW rainy weather.
If you value comfort and aren't looking for a forever boot I'd recommend them.
If you read their testing.. They said to soak the leather in chemicals for 5 days--- and after that is when it's 3x stronger than a normal leather. Due to it's chemical resistance, which you admitted it does have. So 3x stronger AFTER chemical damage
To be honest, they should state that in their advertising. What’s annoying is that you need their in house material to even catch that.
@@Muscovy7 He showed it on screen.. It's not like I looked it up. He literally showed it in this video.. He just misinterpreted the claims.... which I have no doubt that's the intention. They want you to see that "3x stronger" and not realize that it's tied to their other "chemical resistance" claim.. So for someone buying it I can understand, but he has the info and read through it.. so Idk how he missed it, being that he's making a video about it.
@@calholli from specific material he asked them to provide.
@@Muscovy7 I get your point that it should be on the box- for US. But they did provide him the info, he read it.. showed in on screen.. and still got it wrong. lol
@@calholli true enough, I get it, I just also think he happens to have a point. Intentional or not, it's bad marketing and misleading cause people like Weston exist who literally need it spelled out or they get the wrong idea. It's a fact that companies take advantage of poor reading comprehension lol
I just bought a pair of Georgia Boots for work. Never heard of them before, was initially gonna go timberland pro, wolverine or red wing. But had a $150 budget. The Georgia's felt the best and were the cheapest price wise. Before I got them, checked contractor forums, saw they had good buzz for the price so I got them.
FWIW acetone is a fantastic solvent, but a very weak acid. An easy test of acid resistance might be exposing it to vinegar.
RIP bandsaw blade. Does that add to the "Total Destroyed $$" counter?
I like the new format, it sticks to the facts, and you clearly say when something is just your opinion (like the rubber on the heel part). Well done.
Thankfully I no longer work in an industry where I need a safety toe boot, but as someone with a wide foot, it's nice to see a safety toe boot that looks like it maintains the width and height in the toe box. These look like a decent value considering the thicker hard rubber section on the outsole and having the added safety toe.
I like synthetics. All of the rubber is soft, spongy, and bouncy. Better performance and value when I'm washing dishes at Panda Express. Hot water and cleaning agents. Nothing like heat, steam, and chemicals, to disintegrate and rot out layers of natural materials like leather and cork.
I'd like to see ya standardize the test regimen across the board. Love to see all the comprehensive tests, but done on every boot. The burning, a test on the eyelets etc.
I've had very good luck with Georgia boots. Some models still keep a real leather welt. They go on sale quite a lot so I'm usually buying them for a little over $100
Yeah, Good/Bad/Ugly is a good format.
I'd love to see Keens Cincinnati Moc toe carbon safety toe reviewed. I've had pretty good luck out of it. I'm interested to see how it's built.
I got those for my factory job, and the leather started shredding on the toes after a few months. They were fairly comfortable though.
I literally have these on my feet right now
I think it would be cool if you did a “Thrift store boot find” video series and test them
Thanks for another great video. I don't know as if it matters but as your friendly neighborhood chemist I need to point out those chemicals you used to test the acid resistance as the not acids.
Please compare these w/ Keen’s WP version. Thanks for all the great work! Big fan!
These videos have helped a bunch, i go through boots fast and this helps me save money and get a better quality for that money
I am SO glad you did this boot. It's on my list of boots to try in my wastewater gig - where I absolutely need the waterproof. It was down to this (which you hadn't reviewed yet) and something else waterproof from your list. This wins me out over the I-90 because I have more confidence in the out-sole on the Georgia, not to mention *actually* having a shank.
the editor had fun on this one, good stuff.
Wow, that's a LOT of cushion.. very cool!
I'm very happy to see these boots get their own video... I recently bought a pair with my jobs boot voucher program. These are very comfortable and let your toes breath with how wide they are. 9 hours on my feet and not a single pain. The insoles are perfection. I love everything about these boots, very recommended. Great reviews with no UGLY, in my opinion.
Please review the redwing postman Oxford! It probably has an interesting history.
I just had my first resole on my 3 year old US made Carolina mocs. They're still the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, despite the hack resole job.
This is a brand, like HiTek, that died 34 years ago. I use to buy them
I've been wishing for the hitecs I had back in the 90s. I loved those shoes.
they are still around, at least in quebec
@agradeleas still around in lower 48 too; just basically Walmart boots, though. HiTek lower will come off first month. China Georgia Giant does the same
Gotta get that Factor money while they are still in business.
Good video. I would like to just explain a small thing. Acetone while it does sound like the word “acid” isn’t actually acidic. Acetone is a fairly strong solvent, but it isn’t an acid because it has a PH of 7. However I do think it is good to test the boots resistance to a solvent too. Thank you for the video!
Can you do a video on shanks? I know you’re a leather guy, but breaking down each type of shank materials and their pro’s and con’s would be really cool.
Please do the Georgia giant 6” work boot I consider it my outdoor boots or apocalypse boot
Check out Silverado boots. Made by Abilene boot company. Based in Somerset PA. Claims to be USA made
Interesting. After wearing GB’s parent company’s Rocky Boots for years, I got a first pair of Georgia Boots. They are my favorite brand now. I have bad feet, and for some reason, the way they’re constructed plus the insoles they use are perfect for me. Their GB00124 are my favorites.
Well god damn, when I was back working at Frito and had to load semi truck trailers, but I was too short to reach the patterns, these are what i should have worn! I used to have to put extra heel pads in my boots to boost me up to 5'6"-5'7" from my 5'4" height, these things are three inches thick!
Can you review more georgia boots? Like the logger and wedge? Love the content thanks
Keen safety toe boot are very comfortable. Nice wide tow box.
DURADERO BOOTS PLEASE!!! i keep getting advertisements and i want to see what they're all about.
I would like to see him review the Keen Cincinnati safety moc toe.
For the price you can’t beat Georgia Boots, I got the Romeo High Chelsea boot recently for under 100$ on sale and they are by far the most comfortable Chelsea’s I’ve owned
Just for clarification, is the cut center test about “how close you can stay in the direct center” or is it more towards the “how easy to cut” lane? Amazing that you have racked up such a large amount of boots cut, love watching each one.
It’s just how accurately he stays centered during that cut. It’s really just satire lol
Thanks! I thought it was satire but never want to assume anything lol
I would love to see a review on any Russell Moccasin boots
Video idea, can you do a video on the best (most durable) boots that come in EEEE (4W) width? I always have to limit my choices to those and always have a challenging time finding much variety. Thanks a million.
Please do some Velasca shoes sometimes! Maybe the Chelsea boots, I’m really curious how well they are made
The store I went and bought mine did have these composite toe got the regular moc boot style of this had those for over 2 months can't complain great for work
Im an o.g moctober sub and ive always wanted you to include how they fit?sizing wise..recently bought a reviewed pair and had to return them at a loss due to sizing..thx!keep up the great work!
Hey! Could you do a video on Pleaser boots? Not all work boots are the same and there's a lot of good (and a lot of bad) about them in design and utility for what they do. I'd love to see the insides and how they're built too! Especially since I definitely can't afford to destroy the boots I use at work 😅
If you want to avoid the YT censors just call them "Dance Boots" and our community "Dancers" or "Performers."
Hope you take me up on it! Would be amazing to see something totally different from your usual on the page and it would bring you a whole new audience that LOVES leather and footwear!
Also: Watching them form-fit when you heat treat them! to fit a pair you buy a size up for closed toed pairs and down for open toed pairs. The plastic they use on them (especially the clear ones and patent ones) is a heat-forming one so you put on thermal socks and use a hair dryer or heat gun to mold them to your foot, and watching them shrink on and the wrinkles fade away is amazingly satisfying. They go from being too tight and too loose in places to a perfect tailored fit! You also get to see a bunch of wrinkles form and then tighten out as they fit which is really cool to watch! Lots of very relaxing footage!
And an excuse to maybe buy a fun pair of perfectly fitted sexy boots for the wife/girlfriend!
Looking forward to that hunting boot series!
I like the Georgia Boot Romeos but haven't had good luck with the other boots.
MITUSA suggestions, all from Gokey USA, the Tipton work bot, Bison Classic or The Supreme. I've been dying to see a review of Gokey USA boots. They also make shoes. They would also fit into the Moctober series.
I'd love to see more mid-high end boot brands, especially the smaller ones with cult followings like Truman, Oak Street, Parkhurst, and Bordon (stitchdown boots, great leather, awesome construction). You can explore different components - for example, I don't think you've ever cut apart an Itshide sole or a CF Stead leather. You mentioned in the Grant Stone video that they are the best value boots, but it's hard to say that when you haven't really compared with anything else in the same tier!
good looking boot. I like heel rubber for driving
Blown rubber is actually pretty common in running shoes for outsoles! It's a lot lighter than solid rubber, in the case of an outsole it won't be as durable. In a running shoe where weight savings are top dog it's fine because the foam(s) will wear out way before the outsole will. In a midsole/slipsole it has the potential to still be pretty durable because it isnt getting rubbed against anything abrasive (like asphalt) so it should be fine in that use case!
They seem pretty good!
Another great boot review like the good bad and ugly Nice shout out to Project Farm
Please do a video on the Hillman 2.0 aero gel boots!
If you need safety boots with wide sizes, go for Mongrel boots (out of Australia).
first!
thank you for the great videos man
You should review the Jim Green Baobab boot
If you are ever strapped for subject matter, a comparison of sheepskin boots might be a good idea. Of course there are Uggs. Uggs bought its competitor. I got mine from Australia. Kiwi Sheepskin. Just an idea. (I actually have to try to find a good sheepskin insert. The original pile has been compressed and they are uncomfortable. Still looking)
Was surprised it didn't rank higher than the rock rooster
Great video.can you do the keen cinncinati.i love the soft toe waterproof 6 inch.
"Garage science vs marketing science"😂😂😂
Please review Georgias logger boot next.
Please do a review of KEEN Cincinnatis!
Georgia boots rock!!!
Good the bad and the ugly needs format needs more Clint Eastwood references! lol just kidding, it's fun!
any chance you can do a video experimenting with the affects of various oils on leather? not just the usual boot oils but like gun oil, engine oil, hydraulic oil. ive had my work boots soaked in oil accidentally a couple times and once it seemed fine and the other time my boots deteriorated within a couple months
Loving all the vids! Would you consider doing it now Russell Moccasin Backcountry video?
When they say it's 2x , 3x etc . They are comparing to a standard set in bygone days ( 50s ,60s, 70s ? , who knows)
Could we see either a Chippewa Edge Walker Comp Toe, Irish Setter Ashby or a Keen Cincinnati comp toe?
For 282 CAD this looks pretty ok. It is super hard to find a safety toe boot that isn't narrow and terrible. The Keens i have are just ok, but I bought them only because of the carbon toe that is wide enough for my feet. I want to get something with a wedge style sole for indoor/concrete work so I have been on the hunt for something good. One concern I have about this one is with that huge insole is that it seems like the space for your foot between the insole and the laces is pretty tiny.
I just checked and it appears they are not CSA approved so they can't be used in Canada on sites that check for that, which seems to be most.
I had my hopes up after watching this video of trying them for the wide toe box, but they don’t have a size 15. Bummer.
Itd be neat if you could do a video on boots that are offered up to a size 16 for the taller guys. Its a nightmare shopping for boots in the 15-16 range
Can we please see more tear resistance tests?
Can you do a review of a variety of zip up options? I like dress boots but it would be nice to easily slip them off, and not have to go the chelsa route.
Still to this day the Georgia Homelander boot has been the best boot that’s held up to golf course maintenance.
Greenskeeper here, can confirm.
Do Duradero Mocs !
I’ve noticed that most boots that are mass produced become smelly easily compared to leather stacked boots. I think if they didn’t add all the foam and fabric and put leather in it wouldn’t absorb the smell as much.
@@okthen22ok ok
I might start doing computer system installs. One requirement will be electrostatic discharge shoes or boots. Any idea if “ASTM F2413 electrical hazard standard” fits the bill?
Not good to be ground path for 110 your muscles freeze and juice keeps rolling thru you until power path broken
acetone is not an acid, well i suppose technically it is, but nothing compared to the claimed sulfuric acid resistance, you should send a swatch of the leather to one of the chemistry channels like nile red to have him test it.
those boots are very comfortabled i think they should of been higher on the list
I like it. It could have a 10 cm taller shaft though
@roseanvil can you please review the thorogood iron river moc toe comp toe boots it's nearly identical to the Georgia boot you reviewed in this video and a comparison of the two would be great
Have you ever reviewed keen boots? I have a pair I got a while ago and haven’t had any problems with them but I just found your channel and can’t find any videos about their boots specifically the keen San Jose 6” with the aluminum toe
I am hard on boots. I have owned three pairs of moc toe Georgia's. Super comfortable , but every pair did the same thing. The stitched rib that makes it a moc toe...it blows out and looks like crap. And I throw them out. Mine had a different sole, I think we're the older version of this boot. I feel like it happens because the leather is so saturated that the stitches actually cut through the leather
I have looked through all your videos but as far as I have seen you never tested a Panama Jack boot 😮
Can you start doing leather shoes I've always struggled to find a good quality pair and I go through a lot of them due to work
"3x stronger than others" can be translated as 3X stronger the lower specification limit of some standard in my experience as a lab tech. if the tensile strength spec limits are between 5-30N then "3x stronger than others" will give you something completely average, as you showed.
I cant remember which model i had but i bought $160 Georgia boots that i thought were gonna last a long time unfortunately only lasted 6 months, completely fell apart, werent waterproof for long and just went straight in the dumpster
I see these in the local store. I actually have a georgia boot but not that model.
I'm short so I'll buy these just for the extra lift....🤪
I was wondering if you could do a review of the New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi V4?
I have the non moc toe versions.. with the weird rubber-ish toecap? Reminds me of vans dura cap fabric kinda. Same counter and sole, but with an unlined upper. Decent boots. And yes.. super wide toebox haha. Have the loggers with steel toe and they are dainty comparatively.
Can you please review Mark Wahlberg's new Origin shoes by Municipal
How about testing a Frye harness boot?
