      @@suewilson3553 Not EVERY patient comes into the ER because they're sick, dumba**... It is widely known that most hospitals, and ER's would prefer their employees to stay home if they're really that unwell to work. Besides, why go out of your way to behave this way towards me? "Get a clue"? You should take your own advice buddy. There are dozens of comments on here basically saying the same thing. Why not go tell any one of them to get a clue? 🙄

    I got written up for calling in sick as and ED nurse. I ended up quitting. There are too many jobs for healthcare workers to be treated so poorly. I will never work in a hospital setting again. The hospital I worked at too was paying way less than outpatient places so it was a win/win for me to quit.

      And it depends how many times you called sick in o e week/month etc. remember when you call sick everything change in the schedule for the day because some one has to cover your assignment for that day unexpectedly. Calling sick o ce a week every week is unacceptable in any job, that destabilize the work day. SOME employees abuse of their benefits. And it happening more and more these days. I am speaking in general not specifically in your case.

      Reminded me of our over here a overworked radiology......one day he wasn't in the sane state of mind and proceed to come to the meeting room with a machete........ apparently the hospital director was the slowest one and nearly die.....welp he went to the nuthouse and after he was released,he went to his home and hung himself.

      ​@@briarjacobsen7214First off they did hire people to do the job the person this tech was supposed to call is the "On Call Tech" a guy specifically hired to come in when they need him and he's called. That guy wasn't sick he just didn't feel like working and being on call means he doesn't have to stay in the hospital working a set schedule just until the next shift arrives and when things die down

More than once I was sent home because despite me just "not feeling too hot" and having what to me (a young 20-something at the time) felt like a mild cold put the patients around me at risk of getting seriously ill.
      Because to experienced medical professionals who understand they are in close proximity to the ail and vulnerable, there is no difference between between sick and not feeling hot. In fact in most English-speaking words "not feeling so hot" is just a colloquialism for being sick

      Where I'm from they will have you come in for a check up and the doctor will excuse you if needed. Calling in sick is serious if your not sick. including the fact that the doctors and nurses are already on call constantly and sleep deprived. It's not smart to be calling people in. With lives literally on the line, calling in for shits and giggles is a problem.

    In the news three weeks later.... the hospital is being named in a class action lawsuit for hospital management knowingly exposing hundreds of people to covid resulting in several deaths when forcing an employing who called out sick in to work. At the same time the hospital is also being sued by the sick employee and a coworker for violations of their union employment contracts. Also as result of the outbreak of covid and numberous deaths the hospital was inspected by the joint commission and will no longer be allowed to operate due to numerous violations.

However, there are certain state such as Florida where it is difficult for unions to establish due to right to work laws and lack of general employee protections, so despite it being against federal law to forbid unions it is pretty close to forbidden.

      Unfortunately it’s all about the money and not patient care. I work in a hospital and they’d rather you come in sick than not come in and be more short staffed than they already are.

      Na there are reason why there are multiple tech on shift . If you can't make then you contact a 3rd tech ( a hospital like that will have more then 2 as my cousin is one in a team of 8 and we discussed his experience with work when he first started at hospital) . Him covering his friend's lack of ethical duty to ensure there enought techs on duty incase of emergency could result patients suffering. The union would see him in wrong and cant prevent termination ​@@dunster8893

    I had a manager's assistant do this, i worked alone, 2pm to 7 am as a trailer tech, fixing trailers in a hub, i called out one day because I wasn't feeling good, the assistant called me in, i showed up feeling like hell, but willing to at least keep the doors open and he proceeds to yell at me for 2 hours, i clocked out and left, he had to stay and work, next day? Same thing, then i put vacation for the month i had saved up, when i came back i gave my 2 weeks notice.
    Last i heard, he got called, pulled into the office by the manager, district manager, some other big shots and the CEO was in a call, he got let go after that. They tried to call me, but I gave up on that line of work.

      Reminds me of that one episode of king of the hill when Strickland hires some dude who just got out of college to run the business while he's gone. He immediately starts beef with the more experienced staff mainly the truck drivers, so when the truck drivers threaten to quit, he acts like he could easily replace them not realizing that you need a lot of paper work and experience to drive a propane truck.

      I've seen bosses like this get the shit beat out of them. Remember I was working a temp job on a construction site, my of my m8s came down with the flu foreman pinky said he didn't give a fuck if he broke both his legs he'd better get back to work(mind you dude was clearly to far under the weather to work safely) dude told the foreman it's either he goes home or he beats the shit out of him. Pinky( yes that's what we called him bc he always had a pink hard hat on)got froggy and my m8 beat the ever living shit out of him then left. Pinky looks at the rest of us telling us to call the police and ems...we told him he'd better practice what he preached and get back to work, we could care less that he could barely walk.

    I worked for a cardio thoracic surgeon that acted just like this, he was considered one of the finest surgeons in the state but his treatment of people was astounding.. he once told a patient, they were portly and the next heart issue would be observed by a medical examiner

    I know a guy who is actually a radiology tech and he’s been to multiple hospitals. They do not hire nearly enough people so he ends up working 70 hour work weeks and constantly on call. It’s not that complicated just hire more people and pay them well to do it.

    The one time they put my department in a show and they do it like this, sure at a smaller less busy hospitals or clinics/ER clinics its slower and there are plenty of days like this but at a higher volume hospital we work our asses off and the hospital portrayed in the show seems like its high volume so this is a very inaccurate representation of the imaging department but its accurate in doctors and nurse trying to treat us like this.

      @@annmaryjohn3258Because a lot of them think that because you do not have to go through years of schooling and residency that your job isn’t as important as theirs. They do, however, fail to realize that without the other support staff that the hospital would be 100x more chaotic. I hear a lot of nurses, rad techs, patient services liaisons, etc. complain a lot about how terribly they’re treated by doctors and specialty doctors in the hospital setting- which is really sad.

      Seriously though.... they're always dping work they literally never do in real life. I have NEVER met an actual doctor in an imaging department. I've had lots of CTs, Xrays, MRIs and it is always some just above minimum wage employee running it...

      Shouting, putting on a show and demanding and threatening are NOT the only way (nor the best way) to get things done at night.
      I worked nights for 10 years. I know the special sacrifices one must make on the OTHER 16 hours in order to GET to work at 11pm AND be able to be alert all night long.
