I make videos explaining topics related to Kingdom Hearts, both simple and more complicated. While these games are famous for being confusing, I don’t think they really are. Actually, Sora’s nobody was supposed to look like Sora, but when Ventus was separated from Sora in hollow bastion, Ventus’ heart didn’t know what to do because his original body was locked in a deep slumber so he went into Sora’s nobody which made Roxas look like Ventus

What I love about Kingdom Hearts is how straightforward and easy to understand it is. It's really... _Simple and clean._
Hehe if you play the games in reverse order it's simpler to understand. The thing that really trips people up is not being able to tell what's an inuniverse lie. Normoura deliberately wrote it to have everyone believe one conclusion with JUST enough room to make a valid different conclusion later on. Hence all the org members coming back to life as their regular selves and pretty much confessing "Yeah Nobodies never existed... it was all a lie by Xemnas to get us to do his bidding." We were mostly killing replicas, but when the replicas were killed, the originals got thier memories back and woke up.
Hehe it's like a puzzle though, but it's fun to straighten it out and realize it actually IS simple and clean in the end.
@@MarioMastarEhh, it’s pretty clear Nomura didn’t know where he was going with the overarching plot half the time, and wrote himself into a corner, which forced his hand to create retcons.
Actually... it is a little more complex than that.
You see, when Sora released Kairi's heart from his, he also released Ventus's heart too. When he did this though, Ventus's heart had nowhere to go. So instead, when Sora's nobody was created, Ventus's heart found his way to Sora's nobody.
Further more, a nobody actually does not take a form until it reclaims memories from its body, hence why strong Nobodies like Axel and Saïx have the forms they do.
However, with the presence of Ventus, this would cause Roxas to form into the likeness of Ventus.
BUT! Because the Organization was meddling in the affairs of Sora, Kairi, Riku and Roxas, they actually created an Artificial Vessel that could house the memories of Sora while Sora was in stasis, thus creating an Artificial Nobody named Xion in the likeness of Kairi, as the memories forged into her was only those of Kairi. However, when Xion began absorbing the memories connected to Roxas, she then actually did take on the likeness of Sora, thus technically becoming Sora's Nobody.
This is important, because this caused Roxas to begin to shut down as he was quickly losing his connection to Sora, and would soon no longer be his Nobody... but because he is still a Nobody that already had a Heart, albeit a fragmented heart, he was quickly becoming a Nobody for Ventus instead.
So yes, while he is Sora's Nobody, he is in a way, also Ventus's Nobody, even if Ventus's Body was within Castle Oblivion.

Seriously though, what most stories would leave at as simple an answer as possible for time’s sake, Kingdom Hearts leaves the need for a fucking wall of text. And though I love it, it does make my head spin sometimes.
Also Sora is his own heartless which is why we have those dark forms in Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3

Sora‘s Nobody is Roxas. Roxas technically isn’t because he wasn’t made like other Nobodies.
It’s technically Xion ‘cause whoever gets memories becomes Nobody. (Memories came to Xion because of XIII)
Roxas is Sora Nobody that didn’t get Sora memories but instead got Ventus’ heart and face.
That’s why Roxas is Sora’s Nobody but can’t remember anything about Sora.

Look Nomaru has discussed this in interviews. He comments Ventus heart “stayed with” Roxas (aka Sora body) which is why Roxas had the Keyblade and the same appearance as Ventus.
this is extra true given that we now know that Nobodies form surrogate hearts that over time become their own. However, this doesn't mean they're comeplete people still as the pieces don't match. It's only when Roxas is given a body of his own too, that he can be comepleted.

The problem isn’t what actually happens but the series routinely changing what their concepts mean. Sora got his body back. Obviously. There should never have been a Roxas if ‘Nobody’ means your body without its heart. Nobodies aren’t new people. They aren’t “created”. They’re reduced.
@@stevendouglas3781 look it’s a video game series. The rules are flexible, the best way to think of Sora in kh1 and kh2 after Roxas was born is “humanoid Heartless with a Keyblade”. Then he become “whole” when Roxas came back to him. Then he assimilated and sheltered Ventus, Xion and Roxas hearts till they each got released in KH3.
This is one of those things that makes sense as long as you're paying attention to the end of BBS. Roxas looks like Ventus for the same reason Vanitas looks like Sora, and Ventus' body was left in the Chamber of Waking.
Yeah, the only small change being that vanitas is yolked for some reason while everyone else has string bean arms.

To dumb it down further. Since ventus is apart of soras heart when he become a heartless, roxas took on his look since there hearts are connected. From my understanding this is by chance.
@@mathu2003and to add onto this once xion was created by kairi memories and she was introduced to roxas she slowly started to absorb soras memories which lead to roxas slowly “dying” (losing his connection to sora) which is what kept him living and since he was connected to soras memories but since has a fraction of ventus’s heart in him he technically becomes ventus nobody just without the memories since ventus original body is locked up and so is his mind so he never gets ventus memory

@@thicctiger456 no xion is made from Sora's memories of kairi. Xion comes from Sora. That's why she was able absorb roxas powers and the reason why she took on ventus appearance in wonderland. Essentially, Sora,Roxas,Xion, Ventus, and Vanitas are all siblings that defined one another
Really the storyline isn’t hard to follow it’s just that u need to pay attention to it otherwise u will get lost
It was confirmed by Nomura that Roxas is Sora’s nobody. He stated that Roxas looks like Ven because he’s in Sora. But that was it. He stated that Roxas is his own separate person and has nothing to do with Ven other than resemblance.
Yeah, it's more accurate to not call them "Nobodies" and start calling them "Replicas", cause that's more accurate to what they really are, as proven in KH3 where after Repliku is defeated, Dark Riku takes the replica away to recreate Roxas and give him his body back.
the whole "Nobody" thing was a lie made up by Xemnas to get the other org members onboard with his plot. but several of them comment that they know he's lying, but have no choice but to follow through because of his power, or the desire to see the plan through to meet thier own goals (Marluxia reviving his sister, Axel and Siax saving Kairi/Namine, Vexen simply proving that science can create living beings, etc)

Vanitas looks like sora because he is the piece of Ventus taken away, and Sora is the piece Ventus needs to be whole.
Xion looks like Kairi because she is a puppet, Kairi being Sora's key memory, Xion also being the one slowly draining the memories and powers from Sora and Roxas, looks like Kairi, eventually looking like Sora as she almost has everything from Sora

I think the problem with this is that heartless are created from the darkness within someone's heart. And there is no darkness in ventus' heart because vanitus was that darkness from ventus' heart. So if anyone was ventus' heartless it would be vanitus.

Actually Ventus has a body still however his heart is super damaged so it left to heal in Sora instead of dying. Then when Sora offed himself he created a nobody for himself and kairi. Vens heart went into the nobody roxas and instead of turning into Sora it turned into ventus. Nobody’s however do form their own heart after a while as their memories return or as they create meaningful relationships by that method roxas formed his own heart separate from soras since he wasn’t really getting the memories of Sora and he would probably have transformed to look more like him but xion is a thing so she took that role and blabla but roxas did have some memories still so then everyone merged into Sora, thus the meme everyone is either Sora or xehanort

Sora kept his own heart when he became a heartless, this is why when he found a connection (kairi) he was able to come back,vens heart went to the body left behind which resulted in Roxas. Funny enough Roxas and Sora share the same face models in KH2 with both having Sora’s brown eyebrows but Roxas having vens hair.

When Sora came back from being a heartless is when he’s without vens heart. Only when roxas returns to sora does vens heart make it back to Sora, resulting in both hearts going to sleep
Both. He's both. Roxas has soras keyblade and abilities and has combined facial features from Sora and ventus. He even has both of their mannerisms as well.
There’s one problem with that: heartless are the embodiments of darkness of people’s hearts; that wasn’t the case for Ventus-Vanitas was the darkness in Ventus’s heart. If anyone came close to being Ventus’s Heartless, it would technically be Vanitas.
And Vanitas never returned to Ventus after Ven defeated him in BBS, hence why Ven was asleep in Castle Oblivion for over a decade. Ventus’s heart may have been in Sora, but it was Sora’s heart that created Sora’s Heartless and his body was the foundation for the Nobody who would become Roxas. Ventus only influenced Roxas’s appearance and his ability to wield a second keyblade.
And for you newcomers, if you wanna know the true reason why Roxas and Ventus look the same: Namura thought it would be a good cliffhanger in the secret ending of KH2 to make him look like Roxas. What drives Kingdom Hearts plot is cliffhangers and questions, the reasoning behind them always happens later in the games that they're for
What I love about Kingdom hearts is it feels like you are playing through a time frame that already has existed from years of old. Even the new games go so far back in time with history of what the games storyline is. It feels like you're literally playing somebody else 's story back to you. Best game ever!
If holding ventus’ heart is what causes roxas to look like ventus why doesnt anyone in the real organization look like xehanort
The true org 13 only have pieces of Xehanort's heart. Not the whole thing like Roxas. So they only have the Yellow Eyes.

The members of Org 13 didn't get parts of Xehanort's heart until AFTER they were Nobodies, so their appearance wouldn't change, outside of the eyes. That, and they only have small portions, unlike Roxas, who contained most if not all of Ventus' heart, until they both re-merged with Sora.

And during the mid-qual games, Sora was captured and his heart and Nobody were separated by Namine. The hearts that were stored in Sora's body eventually formed their own sentient, which is how Roxas and Xion were created (they are echos of his memories).
Then why is Roxas not a Somebody if he already has a body (Sora's) and a heart (Ven's)? And how can he grow heart if there's a heart already inside him?
He never had a heart inside him.. he just laid dormant in Sora with Ventus' body, which is why Roxas looks like Ventus
I think Ventus’ whole process works very differently. I believe the reason Vanitas was able to be extracted but not be a “Heartless” was because Ventus as per Union X was a carrier for Darkness. And so, rather than being a Heartless, Vanitas becomes a manifestation of Darkness’ previous influence. So Ven really doesn’t follow the common Heartless and Nobody trope other characters follow.
Kind of, that's mostly correct. Vanitas IS that same darkness. Vanitas is darkness, part of the original 13 pure darkness hive mind that developed its own individuality, which was also touched upon in UX. It's not that he manifested into it or became a 14th darkness after the extraction

I’m not sure why anyone would logically think Roxas is Ventus’ heartless. That is expressly not how heartless work.
i think he is both soras nobody and ventus heartless,when sora died he created a nobody and a heartless,the heatrless was the little heartless that kairy transformed into sora and the nobody is roxas,but ventus heart was residing in sora`s body,and when sora died the nobody take the heart of ventus with it,thats why even if someone can only use 1 keyblade roxas can use 2,1 is from roxas and the other is for ventus,and since he has both sora`s body and ventus heart they created a new person
I feel as if a lot of the times fans of the series want these things to be more complicated then they actually are, when really theyre really simple concepts to understand

People are becoming heartless, leaving behind their bodies, then unbecoming heartless and manifesting identical bodies to the ones they had, and leaving behind their old body which looks different. The body looks like someone else because that someone has put their heart in someone else's heart and, I guess, didn't go along with the heart when the host became heartless, but went to the body because...
I get thay when people say "it's not that complicated" they mean it can be summarized in a paragraph, and sure, you can, but you can find a way to condense pretty much any story element if you try hard enough. It's extremely convoluted and doesn't work off many pre-established internal rules.
I think I know what a kingdom hearts is, and knew why roxas looks like ventus (the less complicated reason than what you described). But now I'm confused with sora and vanitus. Mostly because he was just born and never actually saw sora. did he saw him in the future?

remember the flashbacks as kids in Kh, that age. BBS is about a decade before the events of KH.

But when Ventus connected to Sora as a newborn, it resulted in Vanitas, who had no human face before, have a face resembling Sora’s

And Naminé while being from Kairi’s spirit and her true Nobody, was partly from Sora’s body, allowing her to gain blonde hair like Roxas and Ventus, and gained power over Sora’s memory and those connected to him
ventus cant have a nobody since his heart no longer has darkness, ie through it's forceful removal. and as stated heartless are born from the darkness in the hearts of man. so with no darkness there can be no heartless.

Abstract thought. Maybe its because Sora was using a Keyblade that wasn't his? Technically the Kingdom Key belonged to Riku, but moved to Sora who then was only able to use it because Ven being in his heart. Even the Lingering Will was confused when he saw Sora with the Keyblade because it doesn't belong to him.

I get that KH can be confusing, but what is it with the fans and trying to make it MORE confusing than it actually is? Roxas is the Nobody created from SORA'S body, but influenced by Ventus' heart. The only heartless created from Sora is the shadow you briefly play as. If anything, the closest thing Ventus has to a heartless would be Vanitas, since he's literally all of the darkness Ventus had (which was a lot, due to stuff in KHUx)
It had always been my headcanon that Roxas was actually Ventus' Nobody since Ventus heart resided within sora, but since Ventus' heart has been with Sora for so long his nobody developed a connection with Sora which was why Roxas began to have flashbacks of Sora's past in 358/2 days. Sora is the only character in the series to have multiple hearts residing within him at a given point. In KH 3 he had his heart, Ventus' and Roxas, in KH 1 he just had his heart and Ventus. It made sense to me that Sora's nobody would resemble ventus because Ventus' heart has been residing within sora for I think 10 years since I believe birth by sleep takes place ten years before the events of kh1. I always thought that since Sora was a unique situation he may have had 2 nobodies one for ventus but still having a connection to Sora and one for Sora himself.
I guess that is a wrong belief though.

Incorrect. Xehanort is the reincarnated "Player" from UX and also had Terra and Eraqus hearts residing within him ever since BBS. Eraqus is a funny one because he resided in Terra who resided in Xehanort making it a heart hiding within a heart already hiding, that "sly dog"

I believe the reason why Roxas looks like Ventus is because when Sora stabbed himself with the keyblade that releases hearts, Sora must have stabbed his heart in a spot where he had Ventus' heart. It would have to be a pretty deep stab to not only reach Kairi's heart, but to stab deep enough to get to Ventus'.

Vanitas IS the darkness of Vens heart so he can’t produce a heartless but it leaves room to make a nobody because of his strong will to fight and live.
This is a stretch but Roxas is the nobody of Sora but also the strong will of Ventus given another chance to retry his life anew.
With no memories of Ventus but as Sora.
Ventus was given a second chance to relive as someone else that isn’t Sora or Ventus but as Roxas.
And it's why Vanitas looks like Sora. I kinda see it like a Bootstrap paradox of sorts.
Plus, at this point in the series, time travel's been integral to the plot of KH3.
I look at it as Roxas takes the appearance of Ventus but has the memory and "identity" of Sora because Sora makes up the majority of his heart. Where Ventus' heart is only resting there, like in a coma.
Well actually about Ventus losing the dark part of his heart. It was Sora's newborn heart that helped Ventus restore his own heart. It wasn't until 4 years later when Ventus shattered his heart where he took refuge in Sora's heart.

The way I always imagined it is that Ventus is Sora and Ventus's Nobody, similar to how Naminé is Kairi's and Sora's Nobody
To this day I still don't have an answer as to how his nobody existed simultaneously with him returning as a somebody and throughout chain of memories.
Obviously 358/2 days didn't happen in the span of 10 minutes so like how did Roxas exist up until kh2?
Basically what it means is Ventus’s heart went inside Sora and when Sora sacrificed himself to become a heartless releasing Kairi’s heart he created a nobody name Roxas that has the similar appearance of Ventus
The only thing I understood was why Vanitas who only made After that Ventus split looks like a kid who they never met until the end of the game
What is even more weirder is that Vanitas which is Roxas' heartless looks like Sora which is confusing because Vanitas was created when Xehanort separated Ventus' heart which was before he became apart of Sora.
Why are people in the comments acting like Roxas was carrying around ventus' heart from the end of KH1 all the way to the beginning of KH2? Just because he looks like ven dosent mean he has his heart. Roxas echoes ventus' just like vanitas echoes sora.

1 thing you got wrong. It was a kid sora restoring ventus heart. The heart states that it's a new hear on its way. Meaning, this is soras heart before it even reached story

Xion is Sora's nobody with his memories but took up a similar appearance to that of kairi (sometimes, this one is more complicated)
And Naminé is Kairi's nobody that had access to sora's memories
I assume that just as Xemnas is the shared Nobody of Terra and Xehanort the same can be applied to Roxas being the shared Nobody of Sora and Ventus and it’s cause of the connection between Sora and Ven that Roxas has Vens appearance

Ventus - A Special "Destined Child" from the prophecy. Has the ability to forge the X-Blade.
Sora - A Normal child where a portion of Ventus' heart and memories hid after giving birth to Vanitas, giving Sora "Light" and the Keyblade in the process.
Roxas - Sora's Nobody, born when Sora stabbed himself. He looks like Ventus cuz Ventus was inside Sora at the time, taking his form.
Xion - Is a Replica of Roxas made from Sora's memories. She looks like Kairi cuz Sora's memories upon extraction by Naminè was all about Kairi.
Vanitas - The Darkness within Ventus since the Union X prequel. He took form the same as Riku's armor when he was possessed by Ansem due to being pulled out by Xehanort. His face looks like Sora cuz a part of Ventus is within Sora and Vanitas is connected to Ventus.
I subscribe to the theory that Roxas looks like Ven because Roxas actually has Ven’s heart within him. Many times throughout the series it’s heavily eluded to and multiple people, especially Axel, comment on the idea that Roxas actually has a heart. After Sora and Roxas fight within Sora’s heart in KH2 Axel says to Roxas “Hey Roxas… Are you sure you don’t really have a heart…?” This I believe is actually Ven’s heart within him thus giving him the appearance of Ventus.
Kingdom Hearts isn’t nearly as complicated as people make it out to be. I think a lot of that sentiment comes from people would have only played the mainline games and tangentially are aware of the concept touched upon by the handheld games, and people that think the “new” scenes in the ReMix versions are actually new and were made for the 2013 HD Releases. When in fact the Final Mix versions of the games each came out within a year of the original game’s release respectively. Those scenes have been canon since 2007. The third group are people that aren’t necessarily paying close attention to the subtextual stuff going on and each games plot in relation of the over arcing plot of the series. And shoving attempts at explaining some of the more complicated aspects of the plot into a 60sec clip just makes it seem even more complicated than it otherwise is.

I think it's actually simpler (and more complicated) than that. Roxas is a replica like Xion but does look like Ventus for the reason you explained.
In various new cutscenes in KH2 final mix and KH3, they admit that Xemnas lied about the Nobodies being created from shells and extracted hearts to get the organization members on board with his plan to steal hearts and create Kingdom hearts (so they could "restore their hearts") but Siax and Axel as well as Zexion (and presumably Marluxia, Vexen and Larxene) figured out the truth (they all admit at some point they know Nobodies aren't real, just failed replicas, but Marluxia was really trying to find a way to bring his sister back to life and saw this as the only way.) Axel and Siax played along because they felt it would lead to them rescuing Kairi, who they thought was still stuck in the castle, Zexion figures it out when questioning why Xigbar is acting so strange and being the most intelligent, he started to connect the dots himself, and Vexen literally made the replica program and was so prideful about it, he allowed Xemnas to perpetuate the lie about it so he could continue his research uncontested. (the thing he wants to atone for when he realizes Xehanort isn't interested in research or progress, but 'magic").
As such, he's technically a combination of Ventus's body and Sora's memories in the form of what they could extract from Sora to make the first replica. and then extracting more memories created the Kairi look alike, Xion, but the replicas developed thier own hearts and memories and those new memories allowed them to be recreated as thier own persons, only up to the point where they were created though as most of Sora's and Ventus's memories were returned to their original owners. Hence when Ventus and Roxas do interact in KH3, they playfully compliment their similarities but find it to be a funny coincedence, as at the time Roxas was created, Ventus was comatose and their lives would split apart from there.
But yeah, ultimately it was just a lie by Xemnas to get a group of scientists and young boys to be willing to slaughter people for hearts so he could restore Kingdom hearts. and the Nobodies are failed replicas , hence only the organization members could create them but you NEVER see them in games where heartless exist but Nobodies don't unless an Org member creates them.
If you look closely you'll realize that Roxas has features from both Sora and ventus, meaning he is both Sora and Ventus' nobody.

Roxas never had Ventus's heart 😂 what are you talking about. That's literally impossible. His heart was so damaged that it fused with Sora's and could only be released through the power of waking. Roxas started off with no heart and then gradually grew his own. That's why he went from acting like a zombie to expressing deep emotions

My personal headcanon is that he's sort of both, and that's why he had two keyblades, specifically two that represent light and darkness
The second keyblade Roxas was wielding at the end of 358/2 Days didn't come from Ventus, it came from Xion. tl;dr Roxas is born and slowly develops his own heart, but a piece of his developing heart is split off into Xion, who in turn also develops a heart - two hearts, two keyblades. And then they rejoin and boom, Roxas with two keyblades.
Which of course begs the question as to how he can still wield two keyblades in KH3, where both he and Xion are alive and seperate people again, and my answer to that is because dual wielding Roxas has the Rule of Cool and Nomura knew how hype it would be so he just let it happen, explanation be damned. And i can respect that if it's the case.
So what I like to think that he’s a nobody made from the fragments of ventus heart at the time. Which is why he’s able to grow his own heart so fast despite the fact that he remembers NOTHING about his past or self from the beginning of the game.
Game theory could do a deep dive into this, and people would still be confused

I think he's more Sora's Nobody with Ventus's form, because when Sora's heartless regained his human form, Roxas required a new element to hold on to in order to form himself, since a Nobody is supposed to replicate a person's last traits in darkness, and he could not replicate Sora's, because he retained most of himself.

I alwayss thought that... Vanitas was a puppet like Xion (who looked like a black haired Kairi because if Sora's connections), no face until Ventus connectes with Sora.
When Ventus defeats Vanitas, he found Sora again and stayed there.
Then: Ventus pieces were in Sora, so Sora had 2 hearts.
When the storm comes in KH1 and Kairi flies towards Sora, she gave him her heart, so Sora had 3 hearts.
Hollow Bastion: Sora releases all 3 hearts and Ventus became Roxas while Sora heart stayed:
A- Within himself but in the darkness, that's why he was diifferent than others heartless, so Kairi, a princess of light, managed to light it again.
B: Within Kairi, because Kairi tries to catch him before fading, and then when she hugs the heartless, the gave him his heart again.
Then everyone had a heart.

Roxas was made different to throw everyone for a loop when KH2 came out. Birth by Sleep lore was definitely an after thought. Still, amazing idea lol

I suspect that Nomura might have wanted Sora to lose his heart at the very end of KH1 to set up the sequel. But was overruled, maybe by Disney because the hero “dying” would have been risky for a brand new IP for kids.
That’s the only way Roxas being his nobody makes sense though - if he has Sora’s body and the events of the KH2 prologue are to restore it. We already have this structure (Sora obviously does lose his heart in 1) but it’s messy, and doesn’t line up with the metaphysical rules of the other nobodies.
What is prologue Roxas actually restoring? Not his body. We clearly see Sora in the sleep capsule (his body is even growing taller). Not his heart.
Nobodies don’t have a heart, and if they did it wouldn’t be a different one than Sora’s.
It’s just a vague restoration, a vague connection between them. But if Sora sacrificed himself for Kairi and to restore the worlds in 1, that would make a lot of the disparate puzzle pieces fall into place. The outline of which we can see in almost every other story decision throughout the series. Especially the end of 3.
I don’t really care about who looks like who and why, but rather a firm definition of what a nobody IS and why Roxas qualifies. Because in no other examples is a person’s nobody a blonde quasi clone of themselves able to talk and fight with their “true” selves.
this is also why roxas can naturally wield 2 keyblades without the need for special transformations, since both sora and ven are keyblade wielders, roxas adapted the ability to use 2 keyblades at a time
and this is why naminé doesn't look exactly like kairi either, she adopted ven's blond hair
While Roxas' connection to Ventus makes no doubt, I'm not so sure about Namine and Kairi.
I mean, sure, Kairi's heart was in Sora's own at the same time as Ventus' was in, but that aside, there was no interaction like Sora's acting as a substitute for Ventus', they were just kinda 'looking' at each other in there. Besides, Roxas looks like Ventus because he had Ventus' heart inside him, Namine got nothing of Ventus in her (don't take that out of context though) so Namine's appearance has nothing to do with Ventus.
Yet somehow in the original kh2 everyone comments on his likeness to sora (when they used to use the same face model). Which makes no sense as it’s an amazing coincidence sora happened to look like Ventus
