The problem with today's generation is the sheer abundance of resources and how easy it is to obtain them. Now you'd think that would mean people would become more intelligent, but it's done quite the opposite. Because it's so easy to access everything we often overlook most things and skim through things. An example being: If you were to take out a book from the library you would most like read the whole book due to the amount of effort it took to get it (educational ones), but now because you can search through so many papers at once online you often miss most of the information in the text.
TL;DR, we have too much information and no one has the time to learn anything.
