How the HELL do you know that? These could have all been perfectly loving and responsible pet owners who carefully considered bringing a dog in the house, and prepared everything properly... they just didn't tell the kids because GOD FORBID they have a little fun with their new puppy.
The puppy is going to a loving home, the kids have a Christmas they'll remember their entire lives, and for the parents that one moment is worth all the stress they went through to make it happen.

We never got puppies or kittens as presents at Christmastime. If we got a new dog we do it when it is the right time and if we have the room.
And how do you know their parents didn't already decide it WAS the right time and they DID have the room? Just because they wanted to surprise the kids doesn't mean they didn't carefully consider all this and plan it out themselves well in advance.

Nice to get a puppy for Christmas. But the puppy becomes a member of the family not just for one day but for the life of the puppy. The already pup who is a member was ignored which was very sad. Please remember they are members of the family and do not cast them away After the season.

Unfortunately the follow up after a year is the kids are watching TV or on their cell phones and the mom and dad take care of the dog.

I was thinking the exact same thing. There’s nothing that has to be “new” with a dog. Dogs from the shelter are IMO, even more loving and the shelter dogs will give you just as much love, just as many smiles and every once of their loyalty. All for saying, “I choose you! I’m bringing you to your forever home.” They have so much love to give and all they ask, is that you give them one chance to capture your heart. Please, please, choose them. Choose to adopt. 💖🎄
It's almost as if people have different preferences and some prefer a specific breed. Also, you have no idea where these people got these dogs. Some could have been from a shelter, you don't know. And even if they aren't, who cares if it's from a shelter or not. As long as the dog is being taken care of and trained properly, it doesn't matter where it came from.

If there's already a dog in the room , I tend to fee a little sad for them. Unless it belongs to visiting reatives.
