Load distributing anchor (LDA) systems are a useful tool in the toolbox. They are not a self-equalizing anchor system, but they do distribute out the load between the individual points to some degree. It is important when selecting anchor points to be incorporated into an LDA that you select anchors that are capable of not only handling the expected static loads in the system but also the dynamic loads that may be seen if an anchor point were to fail or there was some type of dynamic event in the rest of the system such as an edge transition miscalculation. An LDA is a great tool to assist in positioning your rope system in relation to your victim’s location or best location to operate a raising or lowering system. For more information please see the testing data on this and other LDAs that was presented at the International Technical Rescue Symposium (ITRS) by following this link (in bio):

If the long loop gets cut for some reason, you’re gone. Am I right?

That's what I was thinking, zero redundancy in that anchor loop.
