      *Hello @renu16! 🌟 مَرْحَبًا! 🌟 أَهْلًا وَسَهْلًا بِكُمْ! 🌟 السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ! 🌟*
Thank you for your thoughtful question! 😊
Let's explore the Arabic verbs derived from the root ه م م (h m m). We'll focus on the phrases "لَا يَهُمُّنِي" (lā yahummunī) and "لَا يُهِمُّني" (lā yuhimmu-nī), and discuss their meanings and correct usage.
      *1. Form I Verb: هَمَّ (hamma)*
      Non-past: يَهُمُّ‎ (yahummu)
      *Meanings:*
      1. To disquiet, make uneasy, or distress
      2. To grieve
      3. To preoccupy, concern, or affect
      4. To be of interest
      *Verbal Nouns (مصادر):*
      • **هَمّ
      • *(hamm):* Anxiety, concern, worry
      • *مَهَمَّة*
      • *(mahamma):* Task, mission
      *Active Participle (اسم الفاعل):*
      • *هَامّ*
      • *(hāmm):* Important, concerning
      *Passive Participle (اسم المفعول):*
      • *مَهْمُوم*
      • *(mahmūm):* Worried, distressed
      *Example:*
      • *لَا يَهُمُّنِي الْمَالُ*
      • *(lā yahummunī al-māl):* "Money doesn't concern me."
*2. Form IV Verb: أَهَمَّ (ʔahamma)*
      Non-past: يُهِمُّ‎ (yuhimmu)
      *Meanings:*
      1. (Transitive) To grieve, distress
      2. To concern, worry
      *Verbal Noun (المصدر):*
      • *إِهْمَام*
      • *(ʔihmām):* Concern, importance
      *Active Participle (اسم الفاعل):*
      • *مُهِمّ*
      • *(muhimm):* Important, significant
      *Passive Participle (اسم المفعول):*
      • *مُهَمّ*
      • *(muhamm):* Distressed, concerned
      *Example:*
      • *لَا يُهِمُّني الْمَالُ*
      • *(lā yuhimmu-nī al-māl):* "Money doesn't concern me."
*Comparing Form I and Form IV Usage*
Both "لَا يَهُمُّنِي الْمَالُ" and "لَا يُهِمُّني الْمَالُ" are correct and can be used interchangeably in many contexts. However, there are subtle differences:
      • *Form I "هَمَّ" (yahummu)* is often used to express a more general sense of concern or interest.
      • *Form IV "أَهَمَّ" (yuhimmu)* can imply a more specific or direct cause of concern, emphasizing the importance or significance of the matter.
In daily usage, these differences are often minimal, and speakers may use them interchangeably without a noticeable difference in meaning.
      *Examples with Other Phrases*
      1. *لَا يَهُمُّنِي الْمَبْلَغُ*
      2. *(lā yahummunī al-mablagh):* "The amount doesn't concern me."
      *لَا يُهِمُّني الْمَبْلَغُ*
      3. *(lā yuhimmu-nī al-mablagh):* "The amount doesn't concern me."
      4. *لَا يَهُمُّنِي الفَطُورُ*
      5. *(lā yahummunī al-faṭūr):* "Breakfast doesn't concern me."
      *لَا يُهِمُّني الفَطُورُ*
      6. *(lā yuhimmu-nī al-faṭūr):* "Breakfast doesn't concern me."
      7. *لَا يَهُمُّنِي سِعْرُ السَّيَّارَةِ*
      8. *(lā yahummunī siʿr al-sayyārah):* "The price of the car doesn't concern me."
      *لَا يُهِمُّني سِعْرُ السَّيَّارَةِ*
      9. *(lā yuhimmu-nī siʿr al-sayyārah):* "The price of the car doesn't concern me."
These examples show that both forms can be used to express a lack of concern or indifference towards various subjects.

Actually here subjects are the things while me is as an object. So the translation should be like that…… things don’t care me! But it is not. Would you like to explain it why?

    • @Fascinating_Arabic_Phrases
      @Fascinating_Arabic_Phrases  Před měsícem +1

      Hello @bbcnhkandcnnspecialnewsand3744! 🌟 مَرْحَبًا! 🌟 أَهْلًا وَسَهْلًا بِكُمْ! 🌟 السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ! 🌟
Great question! Let's dive into it.
Languages don't always have the same grammatical structures. They differ in terms of vocabulary, pronunciation, culture, grammar, and many other aspects. That's why translating a sentence word-for-word (mot au mot) from one language to another can sometimes lead to unnatural or incorrect expressions in the target language.
In Arabic, the phrase "لا يهمني" translates to "I don't care." Here, "يهم" (yahum) means "to care" or "to matter," and the suffix "ني" (ni) indicates "me." So, while the literal translation might seem like "things don't care me," this doesn't make sense in English.
Instead, we use a more natural structure: "I don't care." This captures the intended meaning accurately and sounds correct in English.
In translation, there are two main approaches:
Mot au mot (word-for-word): This often preserves the exact words but can result in awkward or incorrect sentences.
Authentic translation: This considers the natural way of expressing the idea in the target language, using appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and cultural context.
I hope this explanation helps clarify the difference! 🌟
      Best regards,
      Veysel Özel (Bursa, Turkey)

Comparing Form I and Form IV Usage:
Both "لَا يَهُمُّنِي" and "لَا يُهِمُّني" are generally correct and can often be used interchangeably, depending on the context. However, there are subtle distinctions:
Form I "هَمَّ" (yahummu) is often used to express a more general sense of concern or interest.

      لَا يَهُمُّنِي الفَطُورُ (lā yahummunī al-faṭūr): "Breakfast doesn't concern me."
      لَا يُهِمُّني الفَطُورُ (lā yuhimmu-nī al-faṭūr): "Breakfast doesn't concern me."
لَا يَهُمُّنِي سِعْرُ السَّيَّارَةِ (lā yahummunī siʿr al-sayyārah): "The price of the car doesn't concern me."
      لَا يُهِمُّني سِعْرُ السَّيَّارَةِ (lā yuhimmu-nī siʿr al-sayyārah): "The price of the car doesn't concern me."
These examples illustrate that both forms can be used to express indifference or a lack of concern toward different subjects.

      Hello @bbcnhkandcnnspecialnewsand3744! 🌟 مَرْحَبًا! 🌟 أَهْلًا وَسَهْلًا بِكُمْ! 🌟 السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ! 🌟
Great question! In translation, languages often do not align perfectly word-for-word. Instead, we translate ideas and meanings to make them sound natural in the target language.
In Arabic, "لا يهمنى ما تقوله والدتك" means "I don't care what your mother says." The pronoun "ه" (hu) in "تقوله" (taquluhu) is necessary for clarity in Arabic but is often omitted in English for natural phrasing. So, while it might seem like "what she says it," in English we simplify it to "what she says."
I hope this helps clarify things! 🌟
