I'm not even vegan and I love following your channel. I do think you're making a difference because you've already got me throwing out meat and eating a more plant based diet. I'm on my way so I'd say you're doing amazing! Keep up the good work ❤️
You are the cutest human being that laugh ❤️❤️ I legit got so happy when I heard swimming pools 🙈 You are so passionate. I feel the exact same way like its so easy to get lost in a "vegan bubble" and then you go out and see people eating meat and I am honestly so. shocked. like how do they not realize that they are literally eating a dead carcass? It breaks my heart as well. You are making a difference. Trust me, Caitlin.
I love your account!:)
Aww Claire I LOVE YOUU!!! You are doing so so much too :)
I love you Claire!!
I feel the same things all the time whenever I see people enjoying meat and dairy and eggs. When people say stuff like, "I'd go vegan but I just love the taste of meat so much!" and I just sit there and think, Wow. How are people so selfish that they can't forego taste over someone's life?
Exactly!!!
@IChangedMyMind i'm not vegan yet but to say that eating meat is "your business" is just not true, it's also the animal's business bc they're the ones losing their lives for it. i still understand most people i know that eat meat, they just haven't seen all the info and the truth behind the meat and dairy industry. after seeing just some of all the info out there i've cut out meat completely and am slowly replacing my other non-vegan foods. by the shape of our teeth alone you should realize we are not meant to eat meat, the animals who do so eat it raw, which we are not capable of doing. "sooooo many other world issues that are far more important" if you kicked me then kicked a pig, i assure you we would both feel the pain just the same. and if animals aren't your thing, how about the planet? and how it is being completely destroyed, a massive part being due to the consumption of animals. maybe you're not an environmentalist either. how about people? somehow there's enough food for 10 billion people being produced but a billion are starving. the most efficient meat is chicken, which only produces 1 calorie for every 9 calories it has to be fed. numbers are higher for pigs, cows etc. so many of the grains we produce go to feeding these livestock. maybe you have enough on your plate that you need to just worry about yourself and your family. the damage that animal products cause to our bodies is documented and terrible. number one killer of humans, heart disease, w 14/15 leading causes being animal products we eat almost everyday. i urge you to look into it. also, it really irritates me when someone says "there are more important issues". how about alzheimer's? i guess nuclear warfare would be a more important issue, does that mean everyone who does research for alzheimer's should start looking into how to build more efficient bombs instead? maybe everyone who runs those 5ks for alzheimer's should just join the war instead? veganism is not the only way but it is a way, and a pretty good one at that.
really not trying to attack, but i used to make fun of vegans all the time, "for every steak you don't eat i eat two", so i understand people who aren't. i also think people are inherently good, so if they were all exposed to the same things i saw they would make SOME dietary change or effort. she's doing her part in something good here, at the very least she's showing people easy ways to have better health, and when you see how horrible the industry is, you can't help but being passionate about it. i for one think she does a pretty good job at not being one of those stereotypical "attacking" vegans that everyone's always talking about. like i said, i myself am not vegan, but from what i've seen there's a lot more non-vegans attacking the vegan community than vice versa.
i LOVE the line in cowspiracy when he says something along the lines of "you can't be an environmentalist without being vegan." Next day i had adopted a vegan diet completely after balancing on the fence for a bit.
I know that you are doing a very good job promoting veganism. You are such a positive, happy, and thriving role model to me. Whenever I am in a "difficult situation" (such as finding vegan options or talking with family/friends) I think about how you would approach it. By setting an excellent example, you are helping motivate me and many others. Thank you so much.
"how do people watch this and not go vegan" I ALWAYS ASK MYSELF THAT. Cowspiracy is what I watched after earthlings (had some impact on me but not fully) and that documentary is what sold me on veganism, instantly.
I have coworkers that use cruelty free makeup, but eat hardcore meat. And also I was telling them facts from cowspiracy and THEY KNEW THEM like how cow farts impact the environment so awfully. And I just looked at them like ._. wait what do you mean youre totally aware and still don't give a fuck? It baffles me.
that is so frustrating....maybe your fabulousness will slowly change their minds Kim ;)
:D that'd be fantastic.
Our society has been conditioned to believe that we need to consume animal products to live a "healthy" lifestyle. Someone today asked me, "I can't believe you don't eat cheese. You're missing out." My response, "I choose to eat compassionately. I no longer have any guilt when I eat my food."
Going vegan has been one of the best decisions I have made for my health.
SLAMSwan same! I am not 100% vegan (still transitioning) but I never liked milk and I had just started to appreciate meat and eggs but weirdly enough I really thought I would miss cheese but I dont!
It is fun that you say even if you are not vegan, thanks for watching but my purpose is to convert all to veganism. Well, that was actually the moment I realised I am actually turning my life around. I turned my breakfast ham sandwich into an all fruit smoothie, my lunch is now a delicious salad and I am convincing my dad to eat more and more veggies, for example, courgetthi with roasted paprikasauce. This is all thanks to you and Ellen Fisher. You rock!
To use your maps app while on the bike, you could use headphones while phone is in your backpack! That way it just speaks the directions to you
Shannon Worley that was my advice as well except I recommended the headphones only be in one ear so you can still hear everything going on around you
I've been a meat eater my entire life and I can understand how meat eaters really dislike preachiness; it's like a person being forced to convert to someone else's religion. I never considered changing my eating habits until I had to watch "Food, Inc." for a paper at school. The movie had nothing really to do with vegetarianism or veganism but that movie changed my entire perception of the food industry and made me not want to eat meat or processed foods, etc
i loved food inc the first two times i watched it because government conspiracies piss me off but after going vegan i hated it because it still tries to promote animal oroducts, just not from certain brands/companies.
I had too had to watch Food, Inc for a class paper and I cant stand eating processed foods. I do still eat meat but slowly I am pushing meat out of my diet while adding more fruits and veggies
I love watching all your videos! Especially your vlogs though. It's fun to go through your days with you. If they make you happy you should make more of them! :)
So glad I found your channel and Instagram!! I recently ordered your smoothie book too!
Aww thank you so much for the support!
I know it's been 5 months but here's a tip (because I get lost going to places I go on a weekly basis). Phone+GPS+Headphones in one ear= problem solved lol
I just finished watching cowspiracy and it really left me thinking. You have just inspired so many people including myself to lead a healthier life, thank you.
I've recently been binging on your channel. Watching videos after video. You're making such a great impact on my life. I've started drinking more water, doing yoga, and cutting meat out. I'm currently vegetarian. I was vegetarian my freshman year in highschool, but it was abusing it hardcore. I already had an eating disorder, so I used vegetarianism to further restrict myself. But now, through your channel, I'm doing it so much more healthily! I went from being anorexic and purging, go having a full on binge eating disorder. I've been so unhealthy. So for the last month I cut out animal products and have had so much fun being able to feel satiated on lots of fruits and vegetables!!! It feels so good!!! Thank you for being such an inspiration.
I think Princess Mononoke was the pivotal film for me in deciding to go vegan. Like Ferngully and Captain Planet helped make me aware, but Princess Mononoke straight up turned me
Almost cried during your rant. Held it back but it hurt so I did it anyways. You have inspired me to convert to veganism. So far, I've been vegan for three weeks. I had a sudden aversion to eating meat..now, it makes me sick looking at it. I'm the biggest animal lover ever, and one day I thought, "You love animals, but you're eating a slaughtered one." Proud to say that my son and I are going to continue living the vegan lifestyle. Our bodies have more energy, our skin is healthier looking, and we feel great. My son never really liked meat anyway. He would turn his nose up to all kinds of meat. Thank goodness I have decided this lifestyle for us. I meal prep, workout, go to school, and go to work feeling so much better about myself. Also, I do not wear any makeup that has been tested on animals. Not one regret.
I honestly love u so much ur just such a wonderful person and thank you for sharing everything you have to say and encouraging this lifestyle you're such an inspiration and I started watching your vids for meal ideas and at this point I'm obsessed you're just so wonderful and sweet and wowwie
I have a Magic Bullet and it's so hard to make smoothies or anything else really. No way to make Nicecream; fruit won't blend without liquid. Can only blend 1 banana/piece of fruit at a time.
Been binge watching your videos. First tuned in for easy vegan inspo and have genuinely enjoyed watching your vlog style what I eat in a day vid's. I love your upbeat and down to earth attitude! Oh and where can I get the recipe for that cornbread?!
I rarely comment but I juust thought I'd let you know that you radiate positivity and such great energy, your videos always brighten my day. Thank you 💜💜
I've just binge watched your videos whilst making a bunch of vegan food to take to a family barbecue...I get the rant 100% and I've literally spent over an hour trying to make this food as aesthetically pleasing as possible so maybe some people there are more attracted to this lifestyle...anyway, love your channel and please keep it up, your videos are awesome and all your food looks amazing :')
I love your personal vlogs that focus more on your daily life! And I loved your rant! Your passion for veganism shines through and that's what will influence people in the end. You go girl!
Aw thank you for watching! I'll definitely try to do more vlogs :)
I'm new to your channel but I love it I follow you on insta and I had no idea you had a channel! That smoothie bowl is everything
Aww thank you so much Jasmine! I didn't know you had a channel either!
Can I just say how intriguing your meal plans are from one college student to another, I'll definitely be following a few of these, although I do not consider myself vegan yet. You're just so honest, its refreshing
Never give up this channel please!!
thank you so much for this massage I would love to learn more and I am really interested in this life style thank you again! plz keep making videos of these wonderful recipes
I've been binge watching your videos, and they have really helped me to adopt a vegan lifestyle. You've made my life so much easier, and my food so much more delicious! Definitely keep sharing all your opinions and your food. You do make a difference :D
You're doing an AMAZING job and you are making an impact!! Loveeeeee your videos, you are so real!
Thank you so much! xxx
I love your vlogs alot♡♡
I am a vegetarian for 8 years now and want to go vegan.. But my mum is totally against it and always say that i need my milk, and so.. I cant wait to move out for university and go fully vegan 😊
Have you tried asking her to watch forks over knives with you?
+Jayterra yeah.. I tried nearly everything.. I am grateful that she supports me as a vegetarian.. But vegan is no option for her.. :( and it is nearly impossible to be a vegan when the rest of the family wont respect the decision ._.
go to tess begg's channel, her description has all you need to convince your mom. milk doesnt make your bones strong. educate her!!! :))))
This is me exactly! But i've just been able to convince her that I don't like the taste of dairy and I plan on making her watch fork over knives just as a "cool documentary" that I want her to watch... I think that might do it completely but next year I'm going to University and am so excited to live under my own food rules!
+Nici Nathalie omg right? I will be so happy making my own rules :D i am so excited ;)
you do make a difference!! every little bit helps. i've been following your channel and have made the transition into veganism. i appreciate everything you do on this channel :)
Sorry I have a question do you prefer biking over driving or do you just have to bike where you live ? (:
I actually laughed at the annotation about your blender because I have that one and it sucks! Trying to make nice cream in that thing is a joke.😂
yeah it's actually the worst....haha. I use a food processor for my nicecream thankfully!
Can you make a video for a recipe on your smoothie bowls? Plz they look so good
Where did you buy the maca and cacoa powder? is it 100%?
I just discovered your channel this week, and like many others out there I am on the quest to make a healthier lifestyle for myself. I really would just like to say that you have honestly completely inspired me to go 100 percent vegan. I have been slowly on the path of cutting out meat and dairy from my daily life, but never actually understood that my body doesn't need the spare amounts of chicken, fish, or milk that I consume, to survive. Since watching most of your videos, I've done a lot of my own research and genuinely have become so much more invested in making a change. When you were talking about the Cowspiracy film, my heart literally dropped because you're absolutely right. How could I be so naive and blind to the fact that a piece of meat sitting on my plate or shredded up in my salad is coming from something LIVING and as cute and loving as my kitten that I just rescued. I really genuinely from the bottom of my heart want to thank you for being such an inspiration to me!!! I really now see that a journey to change is needed! And don't ever question yourself if you are doing enough to make a difference, because coming from someone who doesn't even know you, and has only watched your videos these past couple of days, I can really say that you HAVE made a difference and you HAVE changed my perception on the world we live in. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING YOU!
Honestly... I could use some more Caitlin rants 😂💖🌱🌿
not only can we make a difference in the world, but in our own health! thanks for sharing! I've seen all the videos you mentioned, and since, hubby is even on board!
Even though I am not vegan (I am vegetarian), I´m trying to make at least like one vegan meal per day or like veganize what I can. So you DO make a difference :)
mmm that smoothie looks so good!
Yes more of these videos please I loved this 💖
Okie dokie!
I used to always have the same issue with dates, but recently I started blending the dates with a little bit of milk first until it's smooth and then adding the rest of the ingredients for my smoothie. Hope that helps!
Ugh struggling to find vegan food at totally non-vegan-friendly places is the worst 😭 and you ARE making a difference whether you think you are or not. Every vegan on the planet makes a difference 💛 Love you Caitlin!
SO TRUE Kaylie! Lots of love right back to you xx
That cornbread looked so good! Have you posted the recipe anywhere? :)
The recipe is by High Carb Hannah! It's in her ebook :)
Hey Caitlin, i just wanted to say thank you for your videos. You are one of the only vegan bloggers I have founds that seems truly genuine. You're, real, funny, and inspirational. I have been trying to convert from vegetarian to vegan for a little while now but i still live at home with my parents and they don't think that vegan is healthy and therefore won't let me go vegan. But my point is that when i go off to college i'll buy my own food and become vegan and you're the one who inspired me to do that. More than any documentary or book I read you inspired me so I thought i'd just let you know and say thank you! (lol that was long)
it's your body in the end, and you choose what you want to put in it. Check out nutritionfacts.org/ and show your parents the benefits of veganism :)
I completely agree with everything you said, you were one of the main influences for me to go vegan but I hadn't watched cowspiracy until last week (although I have been vegan for 4 months now). I was in utter shock after watching it, I never knew the extent to which we are completely destroying the planet and the environment and it honestly broke my heart. It is so amazing that you are so passionate about spreading the vegan message and I hope your channel continues to grow and more people open their eyes to the truth and what is really happening in the world 😔xx
I know right? so sad :( Congrats on going vegan though, I'm so proud of you!
This is why you're my favorite youtuber
You can put one ear phone in and have your phone in your backpack and have the directions talking to you as you bike.
I like these types of videos!
yay! glad to hear it :)
loved it !!
You are so amazing! I love your videos! Watching them makes me feel like I am with a friend :) I am a vegan too :)
how did you keep your avocado from going brown? i saw there was half used ouy of a half of that avocado
You can put some lemon juice on the leftover avocado it keeps the avocado green for longer
If u store it in a semi air-tight ziplock bag or some plastic wrap with some lemon juice it can definitely extend its lifespan for a lil less than a day, if u plan to use it the next day u may have to scrape a lil brown off the top but for the most part it keeps fresh.
Also keeping the seed with it helps prolong it's freshness
Totally agree with everything in your rant... Couldn't have said it better myself!
And I love vlogs! ☺️
Pls vlog tons!
I'd really like you to make more videos like this 😊
I started laughing at the note about the blender because I used to use that one before I got my ninja. It was horrible 😅
I like these videos!! ❤️
Awesome! I'll try to make more like this then :)
Hey Caitlin just wanted to let you know that after watching your videos and some other vegan you tubers and watching lots of documentaries I've been transitioning to a vegan lifestyle. You had a huge part in my decision to do so because your videos are very inspiring. ❤️ I hope you'll keep up with your channel
Aww yay this makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing ☺️
+Caitlin Shoemaker sure! AND I will add that I was an omnivore not even just vegetarian to vegan. Just know that your channel DOES have an impact!
Holly shit that bread at the end just made my mouthwater it was soo fluffy and succulent. Can u maybe perhaps post the recipe if it was homemade? i would really appreciate, it looks like my grandmas cornbread as i was younger =D thanks
i have been vegan for 3 months now. thanks to you. i love you girly.
HOW DID YOU MAKE THE CORNBREAD????
I really feel your heart ace Caitlin! I agree 100% with you. it breaks my heart how careless people are towards animals.
I wish I could make a change in the world.
I really liked your rant :). Also it was good to see you a little bit... angry/frustrated about meat/milk industrie. I saw that you really really care. I am in the middle of going vegan so your videos really make big impacts for me. They help me to stay positive.
MORE VLOGS and talking about veganism PLZ!!
Catlin, You're the bomb!!! Thanks for your GREAT videos. I've been a vegan for about 8 years and I truly admire your conviction and your dedication to share your message to the world. You are BEAUTIFUL inside and out!!! Wow!!! More power to you!!! LOVE your videos!!!
I do think you're making a difference because since I started watching your videos, I've become a vegetarian. I'm still struggling around finding a substitute for milk and other stuff (I haven't found coconut or almond milk in Peru so far). Nevertheless, I'm on this lifestyle because you made cooking easy and fun. So THANK YOU SO MUCH!
PS: Why didn't you include the corn bread recipe?! :( Also, I had never cooked before, but now I cook for myself every day...
can you make a video with the cornbread recipe!!!
It's not my recipe, it's in High Carb Hannah's fully cooked ebook!
My boyfriend always gets frustrated with me when I have to "change" the menu. Oh well. I agree with you. A good restaurant should always be willing to accommodate you.
Blue looks nice on you!
Why do you not recomend the blender?
Sophie's way it leaves chunks and doesn't blend very well
I'm transitioning into being Vegan and I honestly love it. I use to not think about being vegan and living without animal products but recently I've been watching documentaries and vegan channels (including yours!). It is hard because I've never been around veganism and have always eaten animal products, which makes me so sad and dissatisfied with myself. So thank you so much for the videos. Do you have any tips for transitioning and keeping positive and really pushing to be vegan? It's difficult because my boyfriend, who I live with, his mom will bring home dinner and buy me a bunch of meat and animal product filled foods and I don't want to be rude and be like "I can't eat it". But at the same time she kinda teases me about it, which makes me want to be vegan even more since she thinks it's stupid. Thanks💛
Also what's the recipe for the cornbread? 😋
It's by High Carb Hannah, recipe is in her fully cooked ebook
Classic south FL storms 😁
what state do you live in?
Your honestly my favorite youtuber💟 i wanna go vegan now!! i love you!
I still haven't tried maca!!!! I've been meaning to try it out for the past year hahaha and it's so great to see a diner being vegan friendly!!!!
I was SO happy they had that oatmeal!! It was a lil tiny but hey better than nothing right? :) Maca is really good...in certain things hehe. It's great for balancing your hormones though apparently!
I completely understand this...I'm not the type of person that will always be explicit about veganism because I would rather lead by example like you do! Definitely get how it's easy for you to feel like you're not doing enough, but I promise you that you do make a difference :)
Lol, same thing happens with me with aloe vera. but I love the feeling of it :P
When you're burned it's nice for like 30 seconds but then I feel like I need to reapply...haha
More vlogs! :)
please make recipe video for cornbread !!! :) :) it looks soooooo goooooood :) :)
it's not my recipe, it's by High Carb Hannah
+Caitlin Shoemaker ok, thanks :)
What do you study? :) (new subbie)
Derp Ina hey I know it's been a while and you probably have the answer already but she is studying to be a physical therapist
What do you use to edit your thumbnail?
Picmonkey
I use picmonaey too but my pictures never fit the whole thing for some reason...do you have any tips?
*picmonkey
I crop them...just play around with it a bit!
Love your videos :)
love YOU
Ok side note: your smile is amazing
Personally, I watch your videos and I'm a meat eater but at the same time, I don't care to eat it. I'd love to go vegan but I love my milk, cheese and eggs too much 😂 you inspire me!
if you dont care for meat but you love dairy, instead of going full vegan, go vegetarian
Preach!!
You're an inspiration in my desire to become vegan even in my early 40's.
LOOOOOl ILY HAHAA i had the magic bullet biggest waste of money eva
you make me cry with this vídeo,,,, I will try my best to make a change for this planet and have a diferent style of life....all the wey from Monterrey México;)
That cornbread looks bomb!!!!!!
You are very effective in getting the vegan message across. The best way to lead, is by example. A lot of nonvegans will be turned off by slaughterhouse footage and stuff like that, which is what certain youtubers choos to do, and so that would not be effective. The best way, is what you are doing, showing that you can live a great, healthy life as a vegan. :)
Thank you so much for this comment! That's definitely my goal :)
I have not watched Earthlings or Forks Over Knives (per friends recommendations that the movies were too brutal) but I did watch Cowspiracy and that movie made the most impact on my slow but sure transition to veganism. The blatant facts describing how we are killing this planet day by day that the producer showed in the documentary to all these environmental company CEO's who then just ignored and pushed aside really resonated with me. I think people find it hard to stop eating meat, because they are busy, some are selfish and do not want to give up the "good" taste of meat, some are uneducated-they have not seen any documentaries about what actually happens to the food that ends up on their plates, some cannot find compassion towards animals. It is very frustrating for me as well when I hang out with my friends who I love dearly but see that they are not willing to make the switch. I hope that eventually the masses will make the switch to a plant based diet and find that compassion in their hearts to let animals live. Your channel does make a huge difference, you show the world that you can be in grad school, have friends, and live a vegan life. I hope you never give up your channel and cannot wait to see all the other videos and messages you have in store for us.
What kind of water bottle is that?
It's by the brand Contigo, it's BPA free! I take it everywhere with me :)
I love your videos! I am not a vegan but everyday I wish I could be :( I am allergic to too many foods and its hard to be as a 17 year old. I take a lot of your recipes and use them! They make me feel good :)
I went vegan when I was 15. Age is NOT an excuse, and I am sad you are using it as one
+vemonkey she said she was allergic to a lot of foods. Not just her age! some vegans turn people off with that I'm better than you attitude. How about give some pointers since you have been vegan since 15.
cornbread recipe?
Caitlin, you are making a difference. Your post a while ago about Gary Yourofsky's speech has inspired me to go vegan. So yay to veganism. We are making a difference.
Aww thank you girl. We ALL are definitely making a difference just by going vegan. Now we just gotta spread the love
I really like this video! Wish I lived in Miami:(
Do a vegan makeup tutorial! Please!
