The wettest race in Bathurst history to that time, saw John Goss and Kevin Bartlett take victory in a Ford Falcon GT Hardtop, under pressure in the late stages from the Holden Torana of Bob Forbes and Wayne Negus.

I saw this race at the circuit with my Dad , I was a 14yo, it was my 1st visit to the Bathurst race.
Thanks for posting these old clips. Can hardly believe this was 41 years ago. Watched the whole race from start to finish.
I wish I could find the whole race on dvd I would love to watch the old races.
@@MadMax351 I spoke with Aaron Noonan in 2015 about the 1974 Bathurst he told me when channel 7 moved to a new location most of the Bathurst footage of the 1974 Bathurst was thrown out I just about cried when he told me hey so unfortunately my friend it's gone forever unless somebody taped it on VHS and converted it to disc but the chances of that are extremely slim as not many if anybody had a video player in 1974 in Australia and they were very expensive back in those days as well I would seriously pay alot of money to have this race I'm not kidding

goss ran this car earlier with an XB front end , but changed it back to an XA because he felt the XA sheetmetal had " superior air penetration "

theres an american mag, with a centre fold..it has chev, ford, dodge, it basically says. if you want a cheap car, easy to fix, cheap parts, buy chev.. if your a middle class guy, buy ford. if you want to win at the drags, buy dodge. & it had a list of part #s, to find at the wreckers to build a good dodge engine,,no speed shop,,thats for chev & holden.. dodge, more hp per cube than other brands. i have 5 fords, 1 dodge challenger r/t. 1973..340ci
you fit a factory race ford engine, top loader, 9" in a torana, win every time..i know hdt used 9" diffs, just the 4 speed, m21.?. still sht box..

From memory that was the last year that you could protest against another car before the race. Brock's team protested against Alan Moffat and they had to strip his engine but could not get it back together again before the race started. There was nothing wrong with the car so bad sportsmanship by Brock's team.
I've been watching this race since just before Johnson ditched the Torana's for the Hardtops.. Nothing today, comes close for the adrenaline they gave.. nothing short of utter rubbish these days.. V8 super sharts are done.. time for some one to bring back a new version of Group C..
No one cares for the camaro, designed to sel us Silverbargo's.pmsl, cos like every ne who watched the Musthangs, went and bought f250's cos the y be the same badge lols. ( yes, some stoned wank from marketing is pushing this line) lets hope Adderton/Bronco's doesn't buy the show, but rather develops competition with having all classes back on the same day.. I know where I'd spend my coins to watch which race..

funny how hdt, change cars & still win,,or use ford components & not be banned, or cry when an 800hp, sierra wins, 4 laps ahead, & get banned. brock, good driver, but hdt, cheat worse than a car salesman..
