    Would have liked to see comparisons between this and some other chest rigs ie. Hill people and others to see how they stack up

    This thing was IMPOSSIBLE to find anywhere for a while about 6-12 months ago. I had bought the 9x9 Utility Gear Set and worried that 5.11 had discontinued it (I don't think it was even listed on their website). Today I was glad to finally pick up the harness, it looks to be an amazing concept for a low-profile chest rig. I intend to wear it under the Rush 72 and 24 packs with just the 9x9 utility.

    Thanks for the review. I'm definitely getting this rig. I just wish 5.11 made the AMP bags with this hypalon webbing on the sides so they can accept water bottle carriers and other pouches. Its low profile enough that it doesnt make it look too tactical. Cheers!

    I have this rig per your previous video going to the waterfall. I love it. Thanks for the review. I use it under my Vanquest packs and don't even know it's there. 5.11 also make a pack that attaches to the back webbing. I do agree with you about the double zippers. Especially if you carry a pistol. It would be nice if I could unzip with my left hand and pull the weapon with my right simultaneously. Other than that, I love the system. I am looking forward to a great season of hiking in the Colorado Mountains. The system is very versatile and well worth the price.

    It looks great. I have been looking to get a set up similar to this one. I have to admit the price tag is hard to swallow for me. Thanks for the awesome review!

  • @Lapeerphoto
    @Lapeerphoto Před 4 lety +4

    I like the chest base, it looks good. The 5L pouch not having double zips is a NO-GO for me. I see 5-11 updating this soon (don't cheap out like Chinese gear, 5-11). Thats a huge fail in my book. Great review! Looks good!
    -Personally, I prefer to pull the zip open with left hand and draw with my right. So, in my mind, this 5L pouch is a LEFT-HANDER, for firearm use. A double zip would allow it to be ambi.

    Finally got it, love it, a truly discreen chest rig. Wears fine under any backpack.

    I finally got mine in the mail this morning; they’ve been on backorder for a while now. I just so happened to check the website the other day and saw that they were finally back in stock so I quickly ordered one immediately. I have the 9x9 utility gear set; another item that was out of stock for a while and on backorder as well. I haven’t gone out to do much walking or running with it but the initial fit is comfy. Depending on how I want to run my magazine pouches for range days, I might get the molle panel or the hexgrid panel.

    Just got one today. Paired with 2 banger gear set. I also have the utility gear set, but it is inside my AMP24. Very handy rig for keeping things handy. Great for bike rides too

    Thanks for the review. i hadn't found too much on this kit last time i searched. When I saw it, I ended up buying it quickly and have had it for a little while now and really like it too. You said it came with some instructions but mine didn't and there was a learning curve but you showed me how to do a few more things with it. I did try attaching the AMP Shove it gear set and it seems to be too big for this as the floppy part doesn't have an easy attachment point but I tried the utility gear set and that worked well on here. In case anyone is wondering, I did try attaching my 2-banger with the shoulder strap (not the gear set one) and it kinda works but barely.

    This could also make a nice PCC rig instead of 2 AR mags maybe 4 24 rounds glock mags.

    I wish I would’ve had this before backpacking the IAT this past summer. Carrying concealed was a PITA while wearing a full pack with sternum and waist straps!

  • @ulbushcrafting6592
    @ulbushcrafting6592 Před 4 lety +1

    WEIGHT. For some reason, this is seldom discussed in the tactical/Bushcraft arena, but it should. I am willing to bet that rig you are wearing is close to two pounds. Your pack, around 4 pounds. That is 6 pounds before you put anything in it, and for a small Liter or capacity total. There are items that do the same thing, for around 2 pounds ( pack AND chest rig ) yet it holds twice as much. As a former Marine who had to pack nearly 90 pounds of equipment, I too fell into this tactical heavy durable trap. Now I have eclipsed a half century, I HAD to change. And I am glad I did as I can still wildcamp/bushcraft yet still have everything I need. Just my opinion man. Do not take it the wrong way.

    @viewsandreviews180 Před 4 lety

    Great video. I’ve had a Ribz pack for a few years but don’t use it much during the summer. I like the idea though and after comparing features of a few chest rigs I bought a Chinese knockoff for much less because I’m still not convinced this is a four season thing for me. I usually sweat while hiking in the warmer months anyway and covering up just makes staying cool harder. I hope the more open design makes four seasons possible.

      Theres a video on you tube of a guy going for a day hike in the woods and he himself is filming it . Two guys park at the trailhead parking lot next to him and follow him into woods . they start catching up to him and he ditches them hiding behind some trees , they come up on his location stop and are looking for him as he watches from the trees ..... they go past he runs back to his car . They meant to do him harm he out smarted them ... so yea its not so much the 4 legged critters you have to watch out for just the 2 legged ones ......be safe .

    When did this channel become an infomercial?

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  Před 4 lety +5

      I am not sure, in the last month I have shown 2 backcountry cooking recipes, done a taste test that don’t go well, showed 3 products that I found major flaws with, broke one knife during testing, did on edc pouch up date, and just reviewed a chest rig that I have been using since August and pointed out what I like and don’t like about it. So...I think it’s a toss up between the video where I broke the knife and when I ate the clif bloks and hated it that the channel became an infomercial.
