The new one definitely has comeback vibe, with a bigger animation budget. The old one however still feels more iconic and there’s just something a little charming about the limited animation.
The newer one makes the scenes that were still images in the older one animated so it gets points for that. It kinda sells the whole “detective squad” thing the show was sold on originally a bit more.
Between the two intros, I do prefer the original because it has a self aware tone about how silly/stupid the premise of the show is, and it doesn't try to look/be cool (and intern it's a lot of fun). While the new intro is actually trying to look cool and misses the self awareness the original intro had (also the annoying voice pinching). I do like the new intro, but it can't beat the low budget charm of the OG.
I liked all of the newer intros (aqua something you know, aqua team forever etc) but always thought of the og as the best, but i absolutely love they redid the old scenes one for one with the new animation. They couldnt have done it better imo
I think better animation works for the intro as it's meant to look cool, but I preferred the crappier animation in the old show as it made a lot of the gags read funnier. When it was funnier, they would do better animation even back then.
