Some additional tidbits that not shown in this trailer:
-they had fall guys mode for the lobby, the lobby size its gonna bigger than previous one (it gonna include an entire island aside of the grandcypher deck)
-the new character that has been teased is gonna be one of the zodiac girls, and gonna be announced at the upcoming blitz tournament event
-the new mechanic is almost look like a RC, since fkhr said it could make opponent movement slightly slower.
I have a feeling it is Anila or Andira, but I wouldn't mind Kumbhira or Vikala.

Wasn't Vikala the highest zodiac on that one pool they did? i'm guessing it's her but yeah as someone said the stage doesn't fit her that much but we'll see.
It's most likely Vikala because she's extremely popular in Japan and the one top player keeps begging FKHR to add her in. She also has her own character song which is a big factor apparently as well (so she has her own theme)

More likely to be a sequel though. During the presentation it was described as a new entry, and at the end of the presentation it was confirmed that the upcoming Jan balance update is the final update for GBVS.
It’s a sequel. The details even confirmed rising will have the story of the first game built in too.

I have the same reaction... I watch the livestream right now hoping ROLLBACK will be on gbfvs and they freaking did it... I am so happy.. gbfvs finally gets justice.. and even they added minigames in the lobbies for people to play which is interesting.

If you were on the stream for granblue fes you would see people asking for rollback since over 6 hours before the scheduled announcement . They just wouldn't stop spamming it XD

but I knew Granblue Fantasy Versus was left in the dust among the other prominent ArcSys fighting games, and I knew it was an injustice

It's unfair to me as well, it really sold well when it came out but the whole covid thing happened and I feel like a lot of their plans were cancelled.
I'm a fan of the character design and it's one of the best looking games Arcsys has, but I'm not such a fan of the gameplay.
I'm glad they are adding more spice to the gameplay.
I think part of the reason may have been because it's the new fighting game series they haven't made yet.
Like with both Guilty Gear and Blazblue, they worked on them for a very long time so they knew what they wanted to do when making a sequel which as a result was a very good game. But both GBVS and DnF Duel was something new which resulted in a bad launch (except for DBFZ), so they needed time to adjust if that make sense. After they made GBVS better through updates, they finally understand what step they needed to take in order to make the game better, and that's exactly what they did with GBVS Rising. But even after all of that, there was still one thing missing which is rollback netback, I think that make sense too cause GBVS came out when ArcSys weren't focusing on Rollback network, but now all their current fighting games has one except GBVS so I thought that made sense for GBVS Rising to get rollback too finally since it's a new game rather than a update. So I think the name "Rising" fits the game perfectly. Now I just wish it'll come out in both Xbox and Switch someday since that will impact the crossplay even more. Lol XD
It's the crossplay that got me excited even more than rollback. That does wonders for player count.

The only CyberAgent / Cygames title he really talked about last year was Umamusume Pretty Derby. I'm more interesting GBF, but game-wise, Uma Musume is their biggest moneymaker. Also, I meant "media" instead of "streaming." CyberAgent divides its business into media, ads, and games.

A Japan-centric mobile game, in 2021 Uma Musume Pretty Derby made nearly US$1 billion. Companies presumably don't plow back money they make only into the the specific product or service that's making them money. Money CyberAgent has made from Granblue Fantasy has helped Uma Musume and vice versa, money CyberAgent has made from Uma Musume has helped Granblue Fantasy. And what money CyberAgent makes from its other products and services in its media, ad, and game divisions has helped - and will continue to help - both games (and vice versa).

I bought granblue versus a couple months back cause it's a game I had wanted to add to my library but just never did. So seeing this gets me real excited for the game again.

@@janematthews9087 That's the sad fact of fighting games, especially ones that tend to fly low on the radar like most anime themed fighting games...the people who hang around for stuff like Melty Blood, Granblue, or the more recent DNF Duel...they are fans to the core who will dedicate the time to it and once casuals get stomped online enough they drop out...leaving only the veterans who've put in the time.
It's a rare few like Guilty Gear which got big, especially with Strive, that break out of the 'small but dedicated fanbase' compared to stuff like KOF and Street Fighter....ESPECIALLY Street Fighter as that's a name even most non-fighting game fans know.
This is especially true for people who drop in late after all the DLC has come out, they come in very late to the game and the vets are all playing high level against each other when the newbies drop in for stuff like this...sure there will be a small learning curve for the vets with various balances and changes made between the last game and this updated version..but the curve for them is MUCH smaller than learning from the start like I'm gonna have to do.
Holy fucking shit. Rollback? Finally? Legit? For real?! I was already giving up on GBVS but this brings me back 100%. I'm excited and, for once, hopeful since COVID-19 practically killed the game.

I dunno if I'd say hardly anyone played GBVS anymore before today Koe, but it definitely wasn't a popular fighting game. But with the combination of GBVS appearing on the main page of EVO recently as well as Merp making a video pretending to be a VTuber, I'd say there was definitely enough renewed interest in GBVS to warrant such a massive update. Will be very happy to see you return to GBVS, Koe! Also if you haven't watched Merp's VTuber video I'd highly recommend it, I was smiling and laughing the entire way through.

Honestly, the whole reason I dropped Granblue was that I didn't find a single character I liked playing after Beelzebub, and I REALLY wanted Sandalphon in the game. I really hope Sandy boy gets in.

Base GBVS will have it's FINAL update on Jan 24th 2023, and this will be either an expansion or a full on new game. What it is, is not 100% sure, but it is NOT going to be free and if LAST update of GBVS is coming, it'll more than likely be a Rev2. I hope it's a Rev2 and not a whole new game people have to buy. Please update not a new game....

During the actual event, they talked about GBVS getting a final update which is Balancing, Boss Music being added to normal matches, and a few minor things, so all signs point to it being a New Game, IF it does turn out to be a massive update, either way I'm readying my wallet.
Please do a deep dive there so much new stuff like a fall guys mode. New art style.

Koe gonna go to bed after recording this and it was like AHHH WHAT DREAM I DREAM THERE WERE NEW CHARACTERS COMING THERE WAS NEW CONTENT TO THE BATTLE SYSTEM AND THIS was the crazy part of the dream that they added rollback netcode uh sadly it was only a- "LOOKS AT TRAILER AGAIN" but I'm happy I don't own the game or trh system to actually play on but the game is cool and the look of the game I freaking love it's literally a mix of classic fairytales look with the anime spin on it but I'm excited welp time to look at Gran blue story playthroughs to see whod Id want in lol and I can't even play

This game really acted as a catalyst that made me want to start improving at fighting games, but without the rollback, it quickly fell out of that pursuit. The fact we're getting rollback and much, much more means me, and I imagine many others, real incentive to stick with this game.
