- Not as smooth as silk : ) TG206 inbound from Phuket Airport. I've never experienced such a hard landing.... Taken from seat 46k. Poorly not the best video quality ; (
Aircraft: Airbus A300-600R
Registration: HS-TAW
It certainly takes skill to land an aircraft like the A300. In October 2010, I was flying on a Monarch A300-600R from London Gatwick to Heraklion. The landing was in strong wind, and we floated just feet above the runway surface for several seconds before she went to full power and went around. We landed safely, albeit very hard, on the second attempt. It was an awesome experience. Great video!
I've been on this flight...thai airways likes using the a300s for this route (much to my happiness because I love older airliners) and the pilots are real cowboys...which always makes for a fun flight
The pilot just said aw phucket we're going down, lol. That did sound like the plane crashed.
Hmmm, that's strange!! It didn't seem to be a hard landing at first as it floated at around ten feet high, but it suddenly banged onto the runway. Nice video!
Its amazing to see Airbus's first plane still flying
I never thought I'd find another person who shared my beliefs about flying. Well said brother.
It was the co pilot's first time, and as we know the first time is pretty rough
Ladies and gentlemen please find your hand luggage in the cargo hold!
i flew from Bangkok to Phuket on this flight and the landing was the same, even bounced.. Took a long time for the reverse thrust too
Hai. That was a very hard landing indeed.
even though its a bad landing , i still have respect for the guy
@TheAviationdisasters thank's a lot !
That was a hard landing!!!!!
Love it thanks for putting it on
Welcome to the world of flying, where not every weather condition is optimal. That was not a very bad landing. Living in Thailand, I'm used the the sometimes heavy winds and brutal rain. I've been on many flights around the world, and by no standards, was that a "bad" landing...
I like those huge flaps on the A300/A310 :D Hard landing indeed, but aircraft can handle much harder ones, passengers can't... obviously
Never heard about it... The A300 will be part until 2015 of Thai Airways Fleet.
phuket is always a thrilling landing!
Not to mention that in some aircraft, pulling the nose up actually pushes the main gear into the ground if the gear is sufficiently aft of the CG
if I'm not wrong, what i heard is that Airbus is not going to make A300 anymore. but they still fly
it is as smooth as silk considering my landings on fsx
well, look at the options. either "suffer" a rough landing, or delay everyone to do another pass. I think he made the right choice.
that was very hard indeed
yikes. reminds me of one of my experiences on an A320 landing in Cebu. One of the overhead compartment doors flew open when we landed. ugh.
TG pilots are the best
Thai airways in Ryanair mode
Ouch Ouch Ouch that was a very hard landing omg!
The safest of landings is a firm one. Those that think hardly noticing at all the best, well, you would be wrong. A recent Russian accident tells that story rather dramatically. There is a video here at youtube of it.
ouuuchhh
uuu hard landing .. not as smooth as silk you right
i know its a terrible thought, (but this has happened to me, and in t urn has made me think about it when im in a plane with hard landing etc...) but, knowing how these 'hard landings' can be, its a really creepy thought to think about when a plane crashes and or falls to the ground etc...... yikes, as my friend says, "try not to think about it" - as they say, its actually MORE DANGEROUS driving to the airport, than flying in a plane!!! :) even with hard landings like this...
lol, what happen with "smooth as silk" ?!
Kevin Candra no one is perfect
That nearly broke my neck just watching the video
Why would the A300 be forbidden? The boeing 707 is still in service for some purposes, the 727 is still a cargo plane in america, the 737 classics are still flying passengers around...
That did not look very rough. It is probably an older plane and all the interior furnishing are getting loose over time and they make more noise which gives the perception of a rough landing. Looking out the window looked pretty normal to me.
This is quite a very hard landing.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny how everybody think they know more than the rest! Did it look like a smooth landing? No, Hence it was a hard landing.
At 2:07 you see the flare but the plane sounds like it hit hard. Maybe it is an older plane with a lot of landings on the gear?
DHL still flies with the Airbus A300-600 version, I see them a lot at Schiphol. So it's not forbidden, Monarch.co.uk also still flies with them, also FedEx, I thought. :)
In July 2011
when it was recorded?
The falling stone...ähh...i mean the falling plane.
Were you in the plane to feel it? That was hard, could be intentionally or just miss judgement. But besides all that he landed, never flown into tall buildings or ripped apart at sea.
The reason is that nobody knows that a hard landing isn't a bad landing.
Woah. Never had a landing THIS hard...skip to 2:05 for landing.
i agreee!~
You guys remember what the pilot is trying to land. Those planes can weigh up to 900,000 a landing is like a controlled crash
My god I would've cussed that pilot out! 😳
Bridget Weedon if you walked away from it, the greasy side down then it was a good landing.
pilot decided to wake up the rest of the sleeping passengers with the hard landing.
This planed looks like soo much like the but a320 but with bigger wings ^^ its like the big bro of A320
looks like every other smooth landing to me
Well that looked like a pretty good wollop. Last MD-80 ride, the pilot slammed the thing down on San Francisco so hard we bounced three times! Bonehead was trying for one of those swoop landings, plunge the last 40 feet then flair hard just at the last second... Oops.
This is why italians clap their hands when the plane lands :)
Yes tell that to that to the landing gear lol. Beautiful plane though
OK- he planted it. It was within design limits. Hope he does better next time.
i don't care if it is a hard landing...as long as I am on the ground and alive...
In Thailand (as everywhere*) pilot flies the plane.
* Soviet Russia excluded.
it looked like the pilot rounded out there it dident really look that bad.
smooth as diamon
@MGCMuseGuitarCovers : )
NEVER EVER SAY IT IS A HARD/HEAVY LANDING. WHY??
- because the only person can confirm it is a hard landing is the maintenance personnel ie maint. engineer / A&P tech or a qualified person. they can get the info from the aircraft monitoring data ie the G force data or similar, also the vertical speed recorded during the landing phase. Then we can CONFIRM. If it is not, plus without the visual evidence, it is clearly NOT A HARD LANDING(and no checks will continue) even pilots insisted they did.
More like rough as rock instead of smooth as silk lol
Wham! Drop it like it's hot!
Ouch!
those Thai pilots need to be re-trained how to land.
Dude, the 707 is still in active service, as is the 727, 737-100/200...
I guess the pilot said PHUKET!
Probably a Pilot that was still in Training that landed it ;)
A300's are very hard to land
I get sweaty hands landing in FSX, I cannot imagine the stress these pilots have!! Everyone who is like OOAH MYA Gawd, That was ssooo scary they are crap pilots, anger me.
That's what I'm mostly afraid of, landing:)
OMG!!
I thought A300 already forbidden for fly
If it is in Phuket i understand,
The ILS isn't working so they must do everything manually
Nvm
Since when does ILS control your flare u stooge....Its a muppet that needs to go back to flying school
Romano Actually ILS can control the flare. For example, if you auto land the 73s, it will flare and land by itself. Don’t call a dude a muppet when you don’t even know what you are talking about.
lol, that was hard!
is not pilot fault, the A300 is kinda old, it could hard land easily.
RIP wheels
who doesn't like it hard I ask you???!!!! landings too.
Boom!!!
Haa haa I would've been the only one laughing on the plane
sorry,i understood now)
I live in russia, and never seen them in real.Thats why i thought so)
That wasn't hard at all, it's just an impression. He just shook the camera a lot and a child screamed. If he hadn't shaken it you'd see it was a decent and safe landing.
Thats an oh crap i am running out of runway landing
from the engine sound, the pilot idle the thrust quite early without enough flaring and resulting the aircraft to drop... need to improve the skill..
this may have been due to the plane landing itself
Ouch
Shit! Mustve been a learner landing that plane.
that's very normal for landing on Phuket ISLAND.
Seriously, I've been through worse
holy shit=-=
lol, I dont! Wouldnt wanna be flying on any plane he has control of.
Can she also construct a proper sentence?
You would be in no doubt you were on the ground.
bruh i was also on an a300 600r and it was a hard landing
Jet2 don't fly a330's.....
seems that itbwasnt a hard landing
ähm yes? XO
What's that like, nigga airways? I ezz nevah flyin on any plane brav, eez not wiked brav.
not that hard, winding conditions, standard.
No, just 'normal'. Some very silly comments on here from the real armchair pilots (i.e. those who've never flown a plane but feel they are qualified to pass judgement on the pros). Grow up!
Wasn't that bad
Oof
