Fish n chips feels like it needs tabbouleh salad. It just makes sense to balance the fattiness of the meal. NZ is the best place for fish n chips, they got batter fried mussels man. Can't beat that.

Bro fish and chips used to be a cheap and delicious feed for a whole family, what happened to buying the chips by the dollar like $5 of chips and a few pieces of fish like $20 - $25 total and you could feed a family of 4

As a bruvva that grew up with a father that worked for the fisheries his whole life, you gotta review the best flake! Folks don’t know how to cook it and is the most under ordered dish on the menu so sometimes they freeze shit and hang onto it.. so it also tells you if they’re grubs. Uppa

Flathead and Whiting are the ultimate table fish and anyone can catch and cook them if you put in some work at the beach or river you'll get a nice feed and always use Coopers pale ale if you can for the beer batter!!! Loving the It's All Eats series!!!

Takeaways in Australia have been taking the piss for a while now. I flat out refuse to buy from them anymore. Buy potatos and cut your own chips, and get a fresh fillets of fish from the fish monger, works out soooo much cheaper and tastes better too

I love my local fish n chips because they cook everything in 100% beef fat it makes such a difference compared to oil.
We moved to Adelaide 16 years ago love it , raised in Melbourne and have lived in Sydney, would never move back to east coast . And Yep Central market never disappoints.

Hi Spanian, Hake is the norm in NZ, but snapr, tarakihi, gernard and so on the prices differ. The cost of fish is crazy to me, but if you enjoy fishing like I do. You can feed a family. Cooked or raw, rawfish, grilled, baked, bbqd, battered, crumbed so on. The pleasures of home cooking, its tiring, satisfying and delicious. But hey, I do have the occasional takeaway...Peace🤙☝️🙂

Hey Mate, try chickos in Wollongong. The best chicken Snitzel burgers ever. You can ask for small or big size.
The difference in price, that is because it's a whole fish, a flat head, you can't go wrong with a whole flat head, chacoal. The other ones are fillets, only part of the fish, you are not getting a whole fish. I googled Sydney prices and another came up as $29.00 and $35.00 but the $35.00 one comes with 2.5kg of shoestring chips and tartare sauce. Sydney Manly Warf is great to go there and watch the sun go down, while you are eating. As for $7.00 for a water, don't think so. When I use to go to Sydney you spend the money on the food, but go to Coles and Woolies for the drink, particularly if its only water.

After watching Spaniard we thought we should check out these businesses, we went to Fich at Petersham today for lunch the chips was bad small piece of fish and tartare sauce was off it smelt and looked like frothing I dipped my chips in it once and threw it out the salad had no dressing on it 😒 the whole experience was disappointing 😏

Kirribilli Seafoods is great. But also BIG TUNA FISH CO at The Entrance is unreal. We live in Pymble, but regularly drive up there just to eat fish and chips right on the shore of the Entrance. Their chips are berserk, the tartare sauce is nuts, and the selection of battered or grilled fish is second to none. We normally get flathead. But i sooooooo miss back in the 80's as a kid when we'd get fish and chips which was flake (shark), and the best potato scallops. The Wog family that owned our local store were the absolute best, that was in Wahroonga at the train station, where it is now burger hounds. Anyone grew up then will know the Greek Wog family , they were there for 20 + years and were the absolute best fish and chips in the upper North Shore.....
There is still Greek owned joint in St Ives , but i've never really rated it as it's quite expensive and the chips are bog standard frozen, and what's worse, if you ask for grilled they serve BASA (sewer catfish).. I never tried the Greek one in Wahroongah unfortunately.. Greek owned one in Gordon was taken over by Chinese years ago and has gone to the dogs

Ling is a very wet fish, nothing beats Snapper, Terakihi, Blue Cod , and Hapuka here in NZ, ( our colder water produces beautiful fresh fish) but in saying that ,had some beautiful cooked fish at Caloundra Seafood Market in QLD last week and it was beautiful)
