It's actually very simple to understand what he's saying. All math. All science. All textbooks have been written by a man. Now most science is able to be repeated because that's just how it works within the laws of nature but math is created by us. What is a measurement? Who woke up the first time and decided that things can be calculated with an equation and how did you get the units for the first equation? The further you go into math the more the equations begin to become theories vs fact.

The same way you say 3^3 is 3*9, you can constantly cube 3 and then divide by 9. It’s also a “math loop”, but only because cubing 3 is the same as 3*9. Nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion
Divided by 2 not x.....

@@matthewreams4345 He is doing x^3/x^2 and realizing it equals x and acting like that breaks math. Irrational numbers are well defined in mathematics and Terrence just doesn’t know what he’s talking about. (Hint: x=√2) There’s nothing mysterious about what he’s doing. “Math loops” is him just repeatedly performing an operation and doesn’t really mean anything. This is the equivalent of someone saying “pick a number. now add 1 and subtract 1. you now have the same number 🤯🤯” it’s completely silly.
@@null_s3tbut hes dividing by two (2^3/2) / 2 and getting 2^1/2
@@null_s3tDude you are missing the point. If you square something and cube it, you should eventually get to an exponentially higher number because cubing is a power higher than a square. When you do it with the number 2 then try and cube it, you arrive back at the first number you were at, which makes no sense.
@@tridenttitan5329 No, you’re taking the SQUARE ROOT of 2, cubing it, then DIVIDING it by 2, which is √2 SQUARED. This will happen with LITERALLY ANY NUMBER. You’re just cubing a number and dividing it by its square which gives you the original number. There’s nothing interesting going on here, Terrence just doesn’t understand multiplication or division.

@fracturedsolace145 actually they were willing to pay him a lot, he wanted more.
The function described is (√n)^3/n
Consider that (√n)^3=(√n)(√n)(√n)
So we get (√n)(√n)(√n)/n
Now consider that (√n)(√n)=n
So (√n)(√n)(√n)=(√n)n
So we can rewrite the function as (√n)n/n
Now consider that n/n=1
Now we get 1(√n) which is just (√n)
So we have now proven (√n)^3/n=(√n) for all positive integers. If you have a denominator smaller than the n you will have an increasing output, if it is larger than n you will have an decreasing output.
2 is a positive integer.
(√2)^3/2=(√2), (√2)^3/1=2(√2), (√2)^3/3=2(√2)/3
3 also
(√3)^3/3=(√3), (√3)^3/2=3(√3)/2, (√3)^3/4=3(√3)/4
His operation is not special, it makes perfect sense, it is logically consistent and has a definable consistent function.

I mean you have to think about it. Times are tough nowadays and it’s hard out here for a pimp.😂😂
As a Indian average guy this is simple maths for me, square root of 2 = 1.41421356.... (means 2^0.5) and cube of that is 2^1.5 and devide by 2 is 2^0.5 which will repeat as you will repeat process;
and for number above 2, square root of that number will be obviously greater than square root of so cube will be greater than 2^1.5 and divide by 2 will be greater than 2^0.5 so every time you will get exponentially increasing number and vis versa (with number less than 2)
Fun fact:If you will do square root of any number and cube it and divide by number itself you will also get loop
OMG Thank you I just understood!
He literally just told them "add one and then subtract one and look, it's the thing." His operations cycle between changing the power from 3/2 to 1/2 and back. That is the only loop with this set of rules. Use any other base , 02, this just becomes a recursive exponential function with a division of 2.

It actually makes perfect sense.
Square root of 2 is 2^(1/2). Then, cube it. Now it’s 2^(3/2). Now divide it by 2, and that’s the same as multiplying it by 2^(-1). Since the bases are the same (2), then we can add the powers. 2^(3/2-1)=2^(1/2) which is what we started with.
Be wary of confidence: it is not to be confused with awareness!
Let x = √2.
Who could've guessed, that x³ divided by x² is x.
Yeah-- I'm not getting the wow factor to this.
That part is obvious, where he blew my mind is when he was able to cube x and got back too x^3
@@user-rj9cm6sm8q his function is
Start with sqrt(2) = 2^(1/2)
Cube it: 2^(3/2)
Divide it by 2: 2^(3/2) / 2 = 2^(3/2 - 1)
Which is… you guessed it: 2^(1/2) which is the original value we started with. All he has done is perform 1 operation, then undo that operation. Thats his entire loop - he just doesn’t understand basic exponent rules.
It actually works for ALL real numbers:
1. Start with sqrt(x) = x^(1/2)
2. Cube it: x^(3/2)
3. Divide by x: x^(3/2) / x = x^(3/2-1) = x^(1/2)
Every single real number works with this. 2 is not special in this regard.
@@bgrl6422drink your tea, little one.
Exactly, that's what I was thinking, it's so basic. And he's like, oh it's a great concept
For those who don’t understand … Terrance Howard is missing the fact that “dividing by 2” is the problem when he tries to apply this formula to other numbers. A similar loop can be done with any other number so long as a person divides the by the number that is equal to the starting value, instead of two. The issue Howard missed is that the starting value changes, but the dividing value doesn’t. Somehow, somewhere, someone neglected to explain that to him when he was younger, which has made him fixate on it. A two minute conversation would have solved it.
Good point.
But the oldest symbols...
At this point his speech is just disengenous.
So Sir.

He said if you do that to number 2..it’ll go back to the original. But if you do that with other numbers, the behavior is not the same. For him, that (operation with other numbers) vs the 2, does not make the sense in a field called Maths
It's the 2nd step that only works for 2...honestly if you don't understand it then it's probably one of many mathematical operations you and he don't understand but to say that means it doesn't make sense is just silly when it clearly does.
2^1/2 is the square root of two. Cube it, it’s 2^3/2. Divide it by 2, it’s (2^3/2)*(1/2) which is equal to (2^3/2)*(2^-1) which is equal to 2^(3/2 - 1), which is equal to 2^1/2. We’re back at the start, just cube it again and repeat. Same goes for number 3, just divide it by 3 instead of 2 (basically 3^-1). You can do this with any (positive) number ‘n’, just divide the cubed square root of ‘n’ by ‘n’ and repeat.
This is the key
Yep. But i think he meant that if you try it with any other number you should divide by 2, not by the number. Of course it wouldn't work. But that's like saying that 2 is the only number that when you subtract 2 from it it comes out as 0. That's true, but it's nothing special. It makes sense and it makes math make sense.

The bit about exponential growth when the number is higher than 2 is just due to the fact that he forgot to update his loop formula (kept using divison by 2 rather than x)

1. Square root : 2^(1/2)
2. Cube it : 2^(3/2)
3. Divide by 2 : 2^(3/2) /2
I.e. 2^ ((3/2) -1)

Thank goodness he’s gonna make new math so he can explain it better

My guy got fired from Iron Man and finally did the rest of his math homework.

Because of the domestic violence charges, but he tried to play it off like it was a pay discrepancy.

Wanna see another cool loop? Pick any number, then add it to itself, and finally divide it by two.
Impressive, isn't it? Surely there is no logical explanation to what you just did.
@@---.-----"adding a number to itself then adding another copy, then dividing by three gives you that number back, no matter that number you put in, it doesn't make sense"
IT makes complete sense,

If I stick a Q-Tip In my ear far enough, it makes me cough.
Terrence is a genius that's fixing to revaluationize the world with his patents.
I'm not sure why he said it doesn't work for any other number, because it does.
Take any number x, and squareroot it, then cube, then divide by x.
So x -> √x -> √(x^3) (rewrite) √(x • x • x) (simplify) x√x -> (x√x)/x -> √x
The reason it works is because the operation of cubing a square root makes a 3/2 power, which means dividing by x will remove a full power and bring it back to a 1/2 power.
Loops absolutely make sense in math, they happen quite often, Euler's number has plenty of loops to it.
The reason it doesn’t work for him is because he is dividing by 2 and not x, even when x is not 2. Also I don’t understand what he even means by “loops”. It’s just two operations that happen to cancel each other out. The only reason it is a “loop” is because he instructed everyone to repeat those operations.
@@henryhe5945because he has no idea what he's actually talking about. Dude is willfully ignorant.
@@alittlesnag Is this a movie? Can't be a scientist. This is middle school-level math.
@@henryhe5945 there does exist something called iteration schemes where you plug in the previous answer of a formula to get a new one, and that new one is equal to the previous one. It's when the scheme "converges". It could be argued that this is a loop.
That’s indeed the first thing that came to my mind: x^(3/2) / x = √x
However, that isn’t a loop, just an algebraic simplification.
Sqrt(2)=2^(1/2)
Cube it 2^(3/2)
Divide it by 2. 2^(1/2)
Cube it 2^(3/2)
Math makes sense when you keep learning and working to understand more of it.
yeah this will work with any number if you divide it by the original number sqrd, the square of the square root of two is two, so it only sounds crazy because the number two seems so basic when really he is just conforming the equation to fit into this simple seeming number so that it is miraculous and not random seeming, silly
@@MOK-ns7ewthis is a paradox that proves the infinite possibilities of the universe, take a square, a perfect square and draw a line from one corner to the next corner, you'll find that the measurement for that diagonal is infinite, no matter how precise the measurement is, you will never find a rational number for the diagonal of a perfect square, now the question is, why is that controversial?
It's controversial because if you take that same perfect square and now split it into three or four or five or six pieces and so on, you will now find a rational number, to better visualize, say you have a perfect square and you have split it into three separate pieces, or three rectangles, so what was once a perfect square, has now become three separate rectangles, once again, measure from corner to corner and you'll find a rational number, a number that does not continue on infinitely for the diagonal of that rectangle, do you see the controversy now?
Why is it that a square can not be perfectly halved but a imperfect square can
