Made this today, the texture is like a chocolate soufflé /mousse. It's one of the best and easiest deserts I've ever made. I've also added a tablespoon of almond flour and some orange zest to the mix, and topped with chopped wallnuts. Insanely good! Update: one thing though I noticed is that you can really taste the baking powder in this cake, which gives a bit of a salty/savory taste. I think it would be a good idea to try and use less of it.
294 g medjool dates, pitted 6 tbs cacao powder 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 3 eggs chocolate frosting: 3 tbs coconut oil 6 tbs cacao powder 3 tbs maple syrup Preheat oven to 350℉. Line a 6 inch cake pan with parchment paper. Add the dates to a food processor and blend until a paste forms (if your dates are stiff, soak them in water water for 10 minutes and drain). Next add in the cacao and pulse until incorporated and a ball forms. Lastly add in the baking powder, salt and eggs. Pulse again until smooth - about 1 minute +. Transfer the batter to the pan and smooth out the top evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes - do not over bake. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. frosting: Whisk together the oil and cacao powder until incorprated. Then add in the maple syrup and whisk til smooth. Add it to your cooled cake and spread out evenly. ❤

Philliys.theres a lot that say only 3 ingredients,you think great have those,can make that,then as you read further and you need another 4 items, so often than not this happens. Mind you it's 3 if you don't put the topping ..why not add the topping into it. It's OK if your a Baker you usually have everything in your cupboard, if you live alone as I do,I buy what I need, When I had a partner..I baked all the time so I had everything to make anything and everything. ❤

Have those of you who have always used cocoa powder in the past, and tried recipes with cacao powder noticed the recipes to be on the bitter side? Since I don’t do sweet fruits and extra sugar, I guess sweet potato with 85% choc + cacao mixed together (steamed 🍠 and melted 🍫) and then cooled in a fridge - is a bit better option 🤔

This may be very delicious and but it’s not any healthier than using regular sugar. Almost 300g dates equal around 190g of sugar and have around 850 calories. So just keep that in mind. Don’t get fooled by the „no sugar“ advertising.
Yeah it is healthier, because it has minerals, vitamins and fiber in it.. but like everything, you need to control the amount! So much better than the 0 kcal wannabe sugar that ruins your body!

You'd think so, but no. When you use medjool dates, they are still fairly plump and not completely dried out so it will almost be like adding any other fruit. Further, the sugar in dates doesn't spike your blood glucose levels like processed sugar or sweets do, it is slow releasing so somewhat healthier for you.
