  • Businesses must file Florida Sales & Use Tax Returns (Form DR-15) to report their gross sales, exempt sales, and taxable sales. The state-wide Florida sales tax rate is 6%, and most counties charge an additional discretionary sales tax (between 0% and 1.5%).
The DR-15 can be paper filed, however, it is recommended to register with the FL Department of Revenue to electronically file and pay your sales taxes. Electronically filing the tax return will also provide the business a small discount on their sales tax liability.
In this example, we look at a new business operating a food truck that needs to file its first DR-15 for January 2024.

Hi Jason, thank you so much for this video. 🙏🏻 I’ve registered my LLC over a year now but didn’t realized I also have to register for Biz Tax too. I just registered with FL Rev earlier this month and received all the forms from them. I sell crystals that I purchase from wholesale warehouses oversea. I do sell online through IG and attend conventions where I rent booths. Am I suppose to put something from line B through E? Also, for items that I’ve shipped out of FL, how do I do the taxes on those? 😅 Thank you so much. So sorry for the trouble. 🙇🏻‍♀️ Thank you in advance for helping me. 🙏🏻

Question… so what if you have a resale tax certificate but everywhere you are buying your items from don’t have your resale certificate.
So for example say I sell tires and I also mount and balance the tires. 50% of the tires I purchased for resale were from a supplier that has my tax certificate so I did not pay sales tax on those tires…. But then I also buy 50% of my tires from eBay NOT using my tax certificate so I paid tax myself on those.
Do I still need to report ALL of my gross sales? Or only the gross sales of what I DID NOT pay tax on when purchasing/I used my tax certificate on?

If you gave out discounts where would that be accounted for- since that wouldn't be deducted from Gross sales, where is it reported please?

You are supposed to report all sales whether the customer paid tax or not. You are to pay the tax even if you did not collect tax from the customer.
And I believe if you gave a discount it would have to be written on the original invoice and you would report the total of the transaction, regardless of discount or not…
You just can’t be changing all your invoices and saying you discounted so you can pay less tax lol it has to be legit and accounted for.
I am not a cpa or tax advisor. It’s just what I’ve learned so correct me if I’m wrong
