    You have changed my mind about owning a quiver. If you need to ride rocker so you can figure out how awesome camber is get after it. Pow is hard and it's own thing. Thank you for spreading shred and the vibe. Love your approach to snowboarding and especially the culture. We all love you Tommie B. Can't wait to be rocking the goggles this spring. Peace and blessing.

    Rode a hybrid for a couple years...realized I hated it the 3rd year. Went back to traditional camber this year and I love it and my riding is so much better and improving again.

    Some comments about pow in here. Personally I find the shape of the board and the flex pattern to be far more important than the camber profile. A full camber board that is directionally shaped - with a wide nose and good taper, and has a directional flex will ride fantastically in any powder conditions.

    I love riding camrocker. Having 60-80% camber under the feet still preserves a lot of the feel of traditional camber but I just love waking up on a pow day and not having to change anything at all and just rip all day long no problem

      Same I've ridden all kinds of camber profiles and camrock is a nice compromise. It is a tiny bit looser in ways than camber but overall I feel like it's more versatile and playfull. I recently got a camrock and it's buttery in the tips yet lays trenches carving etc and like you said way better in powder. I started on full camber boards when that's all there was and they are def way less fun in powder haha.

    I also enjoy riding camber much more. Actually, this year I bought a camber pow board because I wasn't enjoying my other pow board (flat between the bindings to rocker) while on groomers. I even enjoy riding my new board switch😀

    Camber is the only way to go for basic resort and park riding. I ride the gnu headspace with the c3 profile. I do love riding my essential service with the c2 profile on pow days, thing makes riding pow effortless.

    Hybrid shapes also do great for pow riding. Camber boards are great for freestyle/park riding. I really enjoy boards like Yes The Greats Uninc as it is a traditional camber with an aysym sidecut. The aysym sidecut makes heel side carves lock in.

      I found that board awesome but not holding well under speeds and bumps as its flex seemed too soft. The asym sidecut is such a great idea though and generally their short radius cut is amazing

    If you learn how to ride pow you can ride a true twin full camber in pow with very little effort… granted you have to be an incredibly high level rider before that becomes reality. I’m my opinion everyone should own a true twin full camber and a directional with either full or directional camber if they ride a lot.

  • @L3ight5

    Do you carve differently, on a cambered board vs a rocker?
    I love the channel @Tommy! Just started snowboarding this year and I’m loving it, your videos have been a huge help.
    I learned to carve this season on a Burton LTR. Im having trouble transferring the skill to a standard cambered board now that I have my own setup, especially toeside.
    Do you have any advice for transitioning from a rocker to a camber, to help get the board on edge and take advantage of the camber to lock on to that edge? With the rocker all it took was a little ankle/knee pressure and some lean, but with the cambered board that’s not doing enough.

    • @glub__blub
      @glub__blub Před rokem +2

      I’ve found rocker to be slightly more delicate with how you turn, or laid back depending on how you look at it, where on my camber boards I am using my whole body to flex that camber through my turns. I got my first camber board this year and thought that it was gonna be some big change but all that I noticed was that it asked more from than my rocker board not really harder to ride, and I can still be very laid back, however it rides best when I’m working it hard. So I’d recommend focusing on getting yourself stacked over the board in a good athletic position and pushing the board through the turn rather than using just your ankles and leaning into the board. Leaning will often lead to getting your weight out over the board and losing your edge, so instead think about applying pressure to the edge.

    What’s a purely camber board like on a flat but faster cat track, do you need a o stay on edge the whole time as your board wants to veer off in different directions? Like the idea of a pure camber board but a little worried about the lack of forgiveness for an intermediate rider

    • @Daz555Daz
      @Daz555Daz Před 8 měsíci

      A traditional camber board with a directional shape and flex (tail is narrower and stiffer than the nose) tracks well even when running flat if you need to. It's also easy to hold a tiny bit of edge on a trad camber board and rock from edge to edge with super long and narrow turns on any cat track or road.

    So I looked it up and it seems to be camber - hooray :)
    It also says something about positive camber in the middle and zero camber at the ends - no idea what that's all about, but I really like this board

    I’m just wondering about the conditions you’re riding in…that spring or summer slush. I take it that stuff is just frozen solid like an ice skating rink first thing in the morning and you just have to wait for it to soften up? Idk but something about it just seems strange to me somehow, it going from awful to great every day. Or does it never get back to freezing at that point? It’s just a big dirty Slush Puppy melting in the summer?

      Nothing wrong with Hybrid shapes. If you are in an area where you get lots of pow, rocker between feet and camber outside give you float and pop and you can still snap off of the tail because it's in the camber zone.
