I mean... The thing is it does make sense in a way. It's just not how the game works, but if it weren't for the rules....
There is a way to retrain Panik's monsters to reference the wonky anime effects - and considering it'd be a call back to DARKNESS APPROACHES, it'd be fitting.
Basically, turn the castle into a field spell that searches a Fiend, boosts Fiends, and whenever they attack or are attacked, you can turn them into facedown attack mode, then shuffle them around.
Along with a line up of spell and trap supports that floodgate the opponent.
considering during the 1st season there WERE no rules or anything of the kind since the TCG didint release to the world until the 2nd season when battle city was a thing, you can see they started putting in the rules that would be similar to the release of the TCG EX: being tributes
The writers had no rules to follow therefore they didint really pull nothing, id say they made the duels very intresting by adding these elements onto the cards
@@sarthebazaar1898 The fact that there weren't any official rules for the official card game when the first season came out still doesn't change the fact that the writers were pulling this stuff out of their asses.
This duel was amazing from the dark field to catapult launching a monster into a castle’s flotation ring to Panik busting out flamethrowers only for it to have no effect on a the pharaoh and getting his soul crushed. 20 years later and this still show holds up in its absurd glory
Loved this. Watched it in Spanish and his voice is so menacing yet a mocking calculating tone to him. Love how Yugi also stands up to him and while yeah it’s creative love how it symbolizes so much more here!!! Yogi is so heroic man!!!

This is one of my favorite duels early in the show. Throughout the entire match, Yugi is just toying with Panik. Yugi acts surprised by what Panik does, but he quickly brushes it off and just tells him, "Is that all you got?". He forces the same medicine Panik has given others down his throat and is in full control of the duel. Yeah, it has some dumb BS in it, but it's a pretty fun duel to watch Yugi play with his opponent like a fiddle.
While this duel was absolutely BS it has one of my favorite moments from the show.
“I may not have defeated you Yugi! But I can still eliminate you!” And after Panik activate flamethrowers Yugi gives him his comipins.
Holy crap. I’m not the only one who thought this was full of sh*t!!! It’s entertaining, but unrealistic

@@michaelnally2841 yeah, but at this point, we know that millennium items can rip the souls outa someone, rendering them catatonic. Now that’s f**king dark. And later, we learn about the seal of orichalcos, witch seems to be worse, because it’s basically an ancient Egyptian sacrifice ritual. Oh. And in the last season, when yami first gets to Egypt SOMEONE TRIES TO ASSASSINATE HIM WITHIN THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES, AND HE WAS SENT TO THE SHADOW RELM, AND AT THIS POINT, THATS THE MOST BRUTAL DEATH AVAILABLE!!! My point being, this show is really dark for a kids show.

You left out the two best parts. The one where yugi calls panik the boogieman and the song
King of Yamimakai is one of my favorite fiend cards along with Summoned Skull, and the masked beasts (ritual and Des Gardius). Not sure if it was the Panik from the anime or DotR that made like king of yamimakai. It's not particularly powerful but i think its a cool fiend.

I wish Yugioh were like this in real life with these kinds of plays somebody, konami please make the flotation ring a card! they did it for attack the moon.
When the rules of the game changed forever panik gave up being a Duelist and yugi knew he wasn't playing fair
I am forever unable to get over how Yugi has two of the strongest dark monsters in that era, and summoned NEITHER of them. Dark Magician and Summoned Skull would give PaniK something to be afraid of for sure.
Why didn't Yugi play Summoned Skull? It would've received a field bonus and it would've been 3250/1560.
I don't think he had it in his hand but if he did,he should've played it. Summoned Skull would've done the job no problem and won against Panik.
Same reason he didn't play his Dark Magician, he just didn't draw it.
The duel itself is BS. Then again this during duelist kingdom the rules haven’t happened yet until later at Battle City

The creator of Yugioh kept getting letters about the card game, so its popularity resulted in the series leaning more and more towards it.
This duel would never happen. There was more bullsh*t here than in an actual bull’s deuce. If I were to go over everything wrong with this duel, you’d be reading this comment until Easter. But I’ll say that this duel is just terrible in the eyes of a duelist. And I’ve been playing for a while. (Thank this show for it) but to a weeb, this is pretty good. And that’s why I feel neutral about season one of this show. Yeah, it’s cool, but none of it would be within the game’s rules at all

Just like how my boy Mako Tsunami should have won his duel with Yugi, he had him sunk, hook line and sinker
