Welcome to the channel, I'm Garrett! I am formally educated with a degree in interior design. My husband and I are also real estate investors. Our videos cover many styles (not just my own), and everything from ultra luxury to the budget friendly design. We want you to have a good time watching our videos while learning a great deal of useful, and practical information.

Hi again, Garrett! I redid my kitchen a couple of years ago. I'm disabled, so all my lower cabinets are drawers. My pantry has pull out shelves, and other small accommodations were made as part of the design. I'd love to see you do a video on universal design and designing our forever homes for aging in place! Thank you!!!
I will give that some thought. Thank you. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
@@GarrettLeChic thank you so much! I'm sure many people would appreciate learning how things can be beautiful, even if they are designed to be more functional. You are my favorite design channel, Garrett! Keep up the wonderful work you do! 🌻💛🌻
Agreed! My husband and I are now in our mid-60s and when we renovate the next time, it will be last time. These will be some very important decisions!
Oh i would LOVE this! We're renovating ourhouse and next year, we begin planning the kitchen.
I agree! I’m 60 and live in a home that is seriously dated! The kitchen, living room, bedrooms, basement room and laundry room need a total rehaul. It hasn’t been done since the 90’s and 70’s. Paneling in the living room and foyer is an eye sore and trying to convince the man in the house that needs to be painted, is a long battle for me. I’d like to paint it a nice cream white with crown moulding-is that even a thing anymore, crown moulding?
Re: colors of the year - I love green so much and I’m so glad to see it coming back. I have been completely unable to find green anything for years!!
I don’t like the glass partition because I don’t want to be cleaning it all the time. I do love the SW color of the year. Green is my fav color. I keep things very neutral, but I would love a little color. 😀
I'm currently very fond of citron ("Citron is a dark lemon color similar to that of the fruit citron.") Sometimes it has a green cast. I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate just a LITTLE of it in my rental's kitchen.
I don't have words for how much I love that color! It's fantastic. I want it everywhere. :)
You wouldn't be cleaning it much unless people are touching it
@@CH-vm6cq but it does get dusty and yucky overtime
I still fully prefer french doors myself. Glass seems like it will get extra gross and dusty and fingerprinted. I'd probably also be too afraid of breakage, even if it was sturdy
If you're considering remodeling your kitchen, stay away from trends. Stick to a classic or traditional materials and apply trendy features that can be easily changed (lighting, paint and accessories). No matter your budget, a kitchen renovation is a huge expense and not something you want to do over and over. Pick things that you'll still love 10 or twenty years later. Oh, and stay away from the dark kitchens, it's going to be a deal breaker if you want to sell your home.
Good advice. Ten years ago, I painted my dark kitchen cabinets a creamy white, and then had black granite installed for the countertops. It still looks classic and beautiful, and I have no regrets.
If you’re thinking soapstone, you should be aware of the upkeep. Around the sink, it can be challenging. Compare with black honed granite and black leathered granite. I love my soapstone, but it’s not for everyone.
I just had my condo kitchen redone last month and the black leathered countertop was Sooooo awesome. It would have been a great fit for my charcoal, grey and teal, modern style, but the maintenance and the thickness of the slab was not what I was looking for. I opted for a sleek, thin black/ glimmering quartz countertop called "starry night" instead. But the leathered finish is still something I think about.
What I love about you is that you don’t tell people to follow these trends and that they have to have it. In all your videos you emphasise to only do it if you like it yourself and it goes with your style. It is so important, I see so many people follow these trends religiously and then months later they end up changing it and selling items that they have only just bought!
Thanks Harriett, and thank you for supporting our channel by subscribing, and watching!
Love the DOG, super cute that he also works!
In new house planning on SW Dried lavender for base cabinets. Would not do glass partition in kitchen you have to keep all that glass clean and streak free..
Thanks for sharing
yeppers,,
I’m so excited for the concrete+wood trend. I chose finishings for my home in 2020 having no idea that I’d be on-trend in 2022, but there you go!
Thanks for a wonderful video, and give a scratch to Linus for us! :)
Love the dark kitchen cabinets......considered them when I was remodeling. I didn't have the guts to do it because of resale. I went with a white kitchen instead. Dark kitchens with gold hardware....look like a jewel box to me!
I did my kitchen full black with gold handles and a white marble countertop! It feels so modern and classy😊
Thoughts on the concealed kitchen:
Me: Oh, I love that everything is hidden, clutter free, and clean, Yasss!
Also Me: What room am I in, I need a snack 🤷🏾♀️?
Thank you, Garrett, for letting us know what's on the cutting edge of kitchen design! I love the idea of using different types of lighting in the kitchen, and cheers for the concealed kitchen to preserve historical or architectural features of beautiful homes!
You are so welcome!
I have beautiful maple cabinets and have been struggling to determine whether or not to paint them. We’re installing new wood flooring so I’ve been worried it would be too many different wood tones, but now I think I’m just going to embrace it. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
My last house had a larder cabinet. I loved it! My kitchen now doesn’t have the space for one and I miss it. It was my baking station and I found it to be so functional.
I really love the moody kitchens. I’ve already dipped my toes into the darker tones, and now I think I’m just going to dive completely in. I love the feeling of sophistication and elegance I get from the moody colors.
😀😀😀
This young gentleman really knows what he is talking about, a true guru of design. His analysis is laser like and precise he knows the cost of renovation is horrific and wants the payback to be timeless and long lasting.
I fear the glass walls will turn into a nightmare on cleaning and the textured surfaces will be a petri dish of delight all those tiles and grout will age like my hairstyle very quickly. Trying to balance a bright airy kitchen with the need to robust and eye candy is almost impossible for mere humans, Garrett has got this accomplished. Dark kitchens for Northern Europe is a recipe for depression and grunge lurking in every crevice, so not quite my thing.
More of these analytical tools please.
I'm thrilled to see things trending away from big open spaces. Those window dividers in the kitchen are fabulous. Thanks for the video!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching, and pushing that subscribe button to support the channel. :)
I love the very modern look of a warm wood and concrete mix - but I admire it from afar as my core design aesthetic is traditional. But I still enjoy and admire other styles.
You are my favorite U tuber Garret! Very helpful and love that you appreciate fine older classics as well as updating.
Thanks so much Lyddy! I appreciate it very much. Thank you for being a very valued member of our subscriber family. :)
I literally want to redo my whole kitchen! 😮💨 I’m obsessed with the wood look, love love this video. 🤎
❣️ "A space that works for you, not a space that you work for." 👏
I just had my kitchen cabinets painted in Benjamin Moore's Water's Edge and am having butcher block counter tops installed probably stained in a walnut (haven't decided) I love my 'new' blue kitchen! I feel like a stylish grandma. Love your videos !
Sounds great! Thanks so much Jen for watching and supporting us by subscribing. We appreciate it! :)
Garrett, what you say in your videos and how you say it is very helpful and entertaining to me. I think you are spot on and you’ve helped me discover design in an overall way, keeping a focus on the timeless. Also, I love your dog’s cameo appearances. Thank you for being the delightful refined design connoisseur that you are, and delivering your expertise in a warm and entertaining way. Brilliant! -AD
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Angela! I’m glad you are enjoying the channel, and I truly appreciate your support.🐶🐶🐶
Well this was perfect timing! We just looked at a house with a huge cabinet in the kitchen the previous owner set up as a wrapping station! The lauder idea is exactly what I have always wanted!! Thank you!
That is awesome! I'm glad the idea helped. :)
You kill me! You're so entertaining while making great points about styling our homes. Thanks for all your content! Your advice is excellent!
Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying. Please take a moment if you haven't already to support the channel, and join our very valued subscriber family. :)
I like the medium and light wood tones, the pantry, and the hutch you showed us. I appreciate how you include photographs when you explain design. 📐✏️🏠
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really love the darker kitchens. That's what I left a year ago, and I do miss it. My cabinets were a rich cherry, walls a mid-tone sage, and burgundy trim. My own renovation design, and I loved it. The kitchen I have now is pretty, but I'm not as in love with the white cabinets. Still working through evolving it into something more me, but I have some serious budget constraints for now.
I didn't really care for the hidden kitchens. I can see where they would make sense based on your commentary. But they come across as very cold to me, so I couldn't live with it.
Excellent video, as always. Thanks for the Linus fix!
Thanks so much Cate! I’m glad you enjoyed the video.🐶🐶🐶
I love dark kitchen cabinets as well. I never liked the white cabinet trend. Dark cabinets seem so classic to me, along with a light granite countertop. Beautiful!
I renovated my kitchen in 2021 but chose warm red birch cabinetry with cool navy Cambria quartz counters. Little did I know I was ahead of the trends.
I love your applicable and practical advice ❤ and your precious dogs!
Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel by subscribing! We appreciate it. :)
Loving colour kitchens and wood trends. I know we have to be careful with picking materials for kitchen that don't stain easily and are easy to clean, but we can definitely have fun with the colour palettes.
I just finished a kitchen renovation so this was interesting! I really love the pops of color and the woods tones coming more into style. And hello to you Linus you cutie pie! 🍞💙
Thanks Elisa!🐶🐶🐶
“…before I have to fix them all later.” I ❤️ you! (I love the pop of color in a kitchen and I LOVE the Sherwin-Williams color for 2022).
Love the dark kitchen, they are mysterious.
I'm planning a remodel of my kitchen and master bath, your video was so helpful and gives me some fantastic ideas! Looking forward to more!

Subscribed! Love all your content. Perfect observation on the reason that glass partitions work, and what they evoke when done well.
Welcome to the channel Meredith! It’s great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family. 😁😁😁
Thanks again Garrett! I am just about to start planning my new kitchen and have been saving this one - brilliant advice thank you!
100k views, amazing!
Thanks for watching, supporting our channel by subscribing Fernanda! We appreciate you.
*Great advice G. LeChic!* I'm in the midst of a kitchen remodel and I'm just at the dry wall stage. I LOVE the look of the moody kitchen but I am concerned about the amount of natural light I receive. I decided to go with the full wood kitchen. Warm medium toned red oak cabinets with contrasting white oak floors. Great point on the cleaning maintenance of the lighting, I'm in the search for the perfect balance of timeless style, functionality and easy maintenance for pendant lights. Hoping everything all comes together beautifully so I can start filming in my kitchen again.
Thanks for the content💗
I love all these trends, but I wouldn't want to clean the glass partition. My favorite trend is the wood kitchen. We chose wood cabinets for our kitchen renovation. I really enjoy seeing the traditional design incorporated in the new and upcoming trends.
Thanks for sharing!!
2 seconds in.. I love you. So funny amd fun! Well spoken, informed, delivery on point. Vibe vibe vibe
Yay! Thanks so much! Please take a moment to support the channel if you haven’t already, and join our very valued subscriber family. 😊😊😊
Thank you for the video, I needed something good today. My oldest doggy (23 years old) died on Thanksgiving morning so I've been depressed since. Your videos always help me feel better when I'm down, and I love seeing how much you love your pups.❤
Another great video, love the insights to the upcoming trends.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. It's going to take time to heal for sure. We hate to think about losing any of our pups. They are truly family. I so glad my videos bring you joy. That means so much to me!
Another great, information-packed video Garrett. Many of the storage solutions are great; I especially liked the idea of the built-in pantry idea. The clean uncluttered look for a kitchen is ideal, especially for a minimalist. Increasingly helpful for organization. I absolutely agree, wood surfaces look attractive, but can be a bear where maintenance is concerned (just think about the maintenance of a chopping board). I'm an avid fan of your channel, and share them constantly whether they are needed or not. There's always design/decor that can be gained, inspired by or employing techniques. Thank you for all you do. ❤
Thanks so much!
I love the ‘pop’ of colour;especially the blue you featured, but I am a blue lover, too! Sooo sick of monochromatic kitchens! Love the fold away version of the butler’s pantry too-great way to create storage especially in smaller spaces
Me too!! Thanks for watching, and supporting our channel by subscribing. We appreciate it.
We just bought a house and we estate sale a lot, so I've seen MANY tiny 50s-60s-70s houses where flippers or home owners knocked down kitchen walls to have "an open floorplan". Most of the time, it doesn't look like that at all, it just looks like there is a missing wall and it doesn't go with the architecture of the house. Now the idea of the glass wall I think can be brilliant in these cases. I get that these had some tiny stuffy kitchens, but it didn't fix it by just taking out the wall. I think this could give that feel with out just making an awkward room that's hard to style.
I love you! So we’re about to tackle the kitchen in our daughter’s 1936 Pink Spanish house. We have a lot to get rid of in this dark, cramped, grey and black modern non-descript kitchen. It’s so wonderful to have your voice in my head as we select and purchase, hopefully to be installed in December 2022. Thank you so much for your smart ideas, color genius, and for showing successes in so many different styles!
Thanks for the lovely comment Sarah! Glad you are enjoying the videos. Please take a moment to support the channel if you haven't already, and join our very valued subscriber family. :)
Thanks for great design advice that keeps practical use in mind!
Thanks so much!😊😊😊

Welcome to the channel Monique! It's great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family. I'm so glad you are enjoying our content. Btw, new video today, Thursday at 1pm PST. :)
Still like can light in ceiling with a feature chandelier over the island!
No open shelves!
Like painted base & wall cabinets with island as a feature with wood!
Awesome video!! And timely, too. I’m planning on renovating my kitchen in a couple of months.
Wonderful! I'm glad you liked the video Rosana. Thanks for being a very valued member of our subscriber family. We appreciate it! :)
I really liked the kitchen with the light muted but all natural wood tone mixed with dove gray and flooded with natural light! Timeless. Love your channel. 👍🙂
Thanks so much! 😊 Thank you for watching, and it's great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family. :)
Great video! I'm quite excited about seeing more COLOR. In the right space and if done well neutral palettes can be very beautiful but more often than not ... they are just flat.
Hopefully more designers will be combining warm and cool colors so designs feel more balanced.
I totally agree!
Omg you are just like me with your dog. I can tell how much you love each other. So sweet. This is the first video of yours I have watched and wow I am impressed. such in depth knowledge on interior design. Great video I will definitely be watching more from you!
Thank you so much!! We appreciate having you as a subscriber!
Ooooh... your dog loaf! SO CUTE!! At first I was thinking no way.... but I love the concealed kitchens! Also, love the SW evergreen fog!!! Green is my fav color too, Trish vv !!
Rustic Wood Kitchen at 5:50 : SLAYED ME! I AM SLAYED... That kitchen OWNS me. I LUFF it! 😗 🤩🙏
😁
Was watching a video from March this year….. I don’t know what it’s called using adorable blind dogs to get subscribers, but hey, it worked. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love Albert! And you’re a great dog person so how could I not subscribe? Seriously.
Welcome to the channel Melissa! Albert and his two brothers are part of the family and they all make regular appearances on the channel. It’s great having you as part of our very valued subscriber family. 😊😊😊
Love the hidden kitchens. Thanks for your information and always, love ya.
You are so welcome!
Love the all wood kitchen cabinets in a mid tone. I don’t think I’ll ever like the distressed wood look, too farm housey for me!
Great video, thank you! Open space will always be my fav, with no partition unless it's the B-room or the bedroom! And, for me, I'll leave the rustic-faux kitchen to a Hollywood version of what they think my mountain relatives have!
I just designed our new kitchen and did use wood (albeit only on uppers and in butler’s pantry) but also, contrasted warm and cool tones. I had no idea it was a 2022 trend.
That is awesome! Thanks for watching and subscribing Erin. We appreciate it. :)
I love your videos Garrett, and your design style is brilliant!
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate it.
😁😁😁
DIY kitchen remodeling as-we-speak. Upper oak cabinets a soft powder blue-grayish color and creamy white on the base cabinets. Natural maple butcher-block countertops combined with a naturally beautiful and darker live-edge wood top (all glaze coated) for the island (blue slate paint color). Finished with creamy beige walls, white hexagon tile backsplash and mood white (soft concrete look)12”x24” floor tile. The island (with lower seating on one side) is made up of base cabinets from a hexagonal (half wall bar-type) divider tear-out. Out with the old (chocolate brown, cream, green, and sun dried tomato) and in with the new (and final). Now back to work.
Love the look of the window walls, just thinking of how hard it could be to keep the glass clean.
Loved the subtle eye roll when talking about the oak trending still hanging on!!😜 (My sentiment as well!)
I loathe oak
I like the New York apartment look, classic, everything is hidden. Just an island bench is visible. Thank you, this is the first time visiting your you tube Chanel. I’m now subscribed, can’t wait
Welcome to the channel Christina! I’m so happy you are part of our subscriber family. I’m glad you are enjoying our content. Much more to come! Awesome video coming out this Sunday.
🎄🎄🎁🎁
My husband and I recently got our first house. These videos are so helpful since I have a lot of shopping to do for renovations we are doing.
Terrified of falling into a trend and being sick of something I may not be able to change later.
Thank you for all the tips!
I'm so glad! Thank you for being a member of our very valued subscriber family. We appreciate it! :)
I'm going to start rebuilding my entire house from the bottom up and have exactly the same feelings. I had remodeled my kitchen to my dream kitchen and had a house fire 4 months later. I'm not sure what to do now for a kitchen design. :(
I love my all wood cabinets in like a mid tone. We did it over a few years ago. Love your ideas and your advice.
Sounds lovely! Thanks so much Fabiola.
😁😁😁
My favorite design of this series is the neutral tones with a pop of color.
Love love love glass partitions!!!
loving the glass partitions, never been huge on open concept
Blue is my favorite colour too and I've always loved jewel tones. I would put those emerald green or sapphire blue glazed tiles maybe in a small powder room, but probably not in a bigger space.
…a space that works for you not a space that you work for. YES!!
Love the pop of color idea!
Love the concrete and Wood trend I would totally do that super beautiful thank you for sharing friend
Love your charisma 🥺❤️ subscribed
Thanks so much Ofentse! Welcome to the channel. It’s great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family!
😊😊😊
Love your sweet Linus. When my husband retires next year were replacing our rounded edge oak doors and painting it black as well as distressing them. Luckily we have a significant amount of natural light.
🐶🐶🐶
i liked glass separation idea,
I like the partitions ideas. It’s not a new concept. I remember just about every tv show in the 90’s was set in NYC and had them lol. I’m not too keen on wood but the pops of color are fun as well as the pantry. I’m looking at buying a townhome for myself and most don’t come with a pantry so I really like the extra storage options.
I am excited I found your channel !
Yay! Thank you! Welcome to the channel Polly. Be sure to hit the subscribe button, and turn on your bell notifications. I post twice per week. It's great to have you as part of the LeChic family!
I've been wanting a cobalt blue and bright yellow and white French Provincial kitchen for 20+ years. I finally have a house where I can remodel my kitchen and will finally get my kitchen next year (I hope). Cobalt blue cabinets, butcher block and quartz countertops. And I love the larder idea, since I have always had what I call a "baking cabinet" where I keep my baking staples, and would be nice to store my cobalt blue Kitchenaid Mixer (that I've had for 25 years) and my Cuisinart where I can bake.
I really like the concrete!
You are THE BEST. Love your videos ❤️
Thank you so much Erika!!
I love those glass portions, they look very chic and they give space between the rest of the house. I really dislike homes that are one large room flowing into each other, I think it's unwelcoming
Agreed! I think it’s slowly going out a favor.
😀😀😀
As always, you give me wonderful ideas to incorporate into my kitchen redo. Thank you and hugs and ear scratches to Linus! :)
You are so welcome!
Omg I hate the glass panels!
Such a daddy’s boy. Such a good daddy. I love your fur babies momentary appearances. Warms my soul.
Timber coming back makes me very happy but not on the cupboard doors. I like smooth sleek cupboard doors that wipe down easily. In a kitchen this activity is a protracted and necessary requirement. So trust me when I say, “I am over cleaning in the crevices of panels.”
😊 thank you. They enjoy visiting with all our subscribers!
I’m not sure about the glass partitions, but I do like the concealed kitchen and the wood toned kitchen trends 😊
Your videos have such great flow.
😁😁😁
I like the wood trend the best - I love natural materials. Cement/brutalism not so much. I find that too institutional and depressing.
My dogs like the kitchen the best, they even follow me there hoping for something to drop😏 your dog made me smile, thank you
I like the wood kitchen, looks nicer than paint to me. Not sure how I feel about the glass dividers, but I like that its different and innovative. Also I like minimalism but not sure about brutalist. Theres this brutalist style giant apartment building in my city and it fills me with depression whenever I walk past it, it literally looks like chernobyl or something
Thanks for watching, and for supporting our channel by subscribing.:)
Brutalist reminds me of Fortress Architecture. Very inward and cold and a little cruel. I love dark colors and dark woods myself, but that's a bit too utilitarian for me
great ideas 4 my kitchen make over ty !!! xx
Yay! Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel by subscribing Belinda. We appreciate it. 😊😊😊
I think your advice about really being committed to a color, material, or design style is very important. Kitchen renovation is expensive and making choices that you'll regret is sad and costly. Whatever the style, how you use the kitchen and the amount of time and effort you're willing to devote to maintenance, is an honest conversation you need to have with yourself. All that being said, I think the dark moody kitchen looks beautiful!
Thanks so much Lori!😀😀😀
Renovating a small verticle cabinet with two extra shelves as a mini pantry. Thanks for your inspiration
Thanks so much! Glad I could help. Please take a moment to support the channel if you haven't already, and join our very valued subscriber family. :)
Please do a video on grand millennial! It’s so satisfying hearing you put little things I’ve noticed into words and really break them down. I think I’m into it and it would be awesome to get a guide from you ❤️ I’ve been calling grand millennial, grandma revival in passing with my mama lol
Great suggestion!
As much as I hate to say it......and believe me I live in a Condo with lots of oak trim and cabinets- eventually this will all fall out of "style" and have to be ripped out. I'm working on reducing the oak in my place one room at a time, it was built in the early 00's. Thank goodness for cabinet/trim paint, gel stain, and my wife's love for primative/farmhouse decor (we live in the midwest). Fun video......not so sure how I feel about those backsplashes, they are a pain in the ass to put in/take out. I personally like shiplap myself. Our last place I took palletboards and made a feature wall in our kitchen....looked spectacular.
Thanks so much for sharing! Please take a moment if you haven't already to support the channel, and join our very valued subscriber family. :)
Not the dog I expected you to have. Lol liked 👍 subscribed 👍
Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks Dana! We appreciate your support in watching and subscribing.
I love pops of color, mostly deep or bright. My current kitchen is painted BM Spring Moss. I don't care for Brutalism or all wood. Great examples, Garrett!
Thanks for sharing!!
We will be remodeling our kitchen in the next 6 months or so and this video was very helpful. I love the idea of using the pop of my favorite color but in a dustier tone. I had included pantry cabinets in my inspiration design but love the idea it f storage shelves on the doors and the European larder look and functionality. I know that two toned kitchens are “out” but an all wood kitchen would be too much with our bamboo floors so I’m contemplating off white cabinets with a wood island and a pop of color in the pantry area but afraid that might be too “color block-y.” Decisions, decisions!
