Gogeta really drew the short end of the stick here when one of his strongest moves needed his opponent to be somewhat evil.
That's the thing Vegito is part Vegeta, and he is not pure evil but has evil tendencies. That attack should have worked. Just because they fuse doesn't mean that the evil is erased. Even if it didn't one shot him, it should've cause significant damage.
I thought that’d work since a sayian is a bit “evil” by nature…hence why goku can’t pull off spirit bomb in his sayian form.

It really does, knowing that he's gone now.
Alot of people don't realize that the ONLY reason Vegito toyed around with Buu as in the manga, and the series Dub / subbed. He wanted Buu to absorb him so he could free everyone inside. It was a planned event he wanted Buu to do.

Technically, Gohan should have ended Buu long before any of them were absorbed by Buu, to begin with. It would have been a shorter Buu arc had they went that route. But i get it, it was mainly for the filler and drama to draw it out to the end with Kid Buu being erased by the spirit bomb.

@fernandogamer7963 I understand all that. I am just saying it's sad they felt they had to write vegeta as such a cocky saiyan who thinks he's untouchable or can't be beat. When in fact, he does get beat a lot more by some really powerful villains.
I am not saying any of the characters are immune. It just sucks they wrote vegeta like he is.
Gogeta using the Stardust Breaker on a non-evil opponent is the equivalent to dousing yourself in water to cool off while swimming in the pool.

I like how everyone understood the mission almost immediately.
Well they came in through the wish being a Death Battle, so they possibly came in with the knowledge they had to fight.

It's interesting to note that at the very last moment, just before Gogeta's dragon fist connected, Vegito used kaioken. This would have given him ample power to completely overwhelm Gogeta, assuming their power levels at SSB were very close if not identical. It's too bad Gogeta didn't also use kaioken at the last second.
Gogeta was actually using Blue Evolved during that final clash. As we see in Super, Blue Evolved and KiokenX20 were equal to each other. So Gogeta was overpowering Vegito until the last second, where the X20 Kamehameha overwhelmed Gogeta and he used up all his energy, turning him to stone.

If Gogeta was using blue evolved, Vegito shouldn't have been able to overpower him even if he used kaioken x20. As you said, blue evolved and kx20 are equivalent in terms of power, so the only result, if Vegito used kx20 at the last second, should've been a simple clash of powers. That or both would have turned to stone.
Even if Vegito was very slightly stronger than Gogeta, a tiny difference in power would not have secured a victory. We've seen it several times throughout the series that power is not always the deciding factor, especially one so small in difference. Ex., Perfect Cell with zenkai boost vs injured ss2 Gohan. Even if both were equal prior to Gohan's injury, Cell should have beaten Gohan after the latter was injured, but he still lost because plot armor.
Also, I'm not so sure Gogeta was using blue evolved. Every transformation was clearly highlighted and defined, so there's no way blue evolved wouldn't be. What you saw, the slight shade of darker blue hair color, was likely a simple method to further tell the two apart aside from their clothing.
@@woodenmetal2977 Gogeta's hair was shining at the end during the Dragon Fist, just like how Vegeta's hair shines when he uses Blue Evolved.
Also, this is Death Battle, SOMEONE has to lose (not counting a few rare exceptions) meaning that slight power difference between Gogeta and Vegito was a deciding factor, another being Vegito's longer time limit.
@@pauloemanuelnevespaulo7774 Beyond the fact that the kanzenshuu and daizenshuu were written by editors with only the loosest oversight from Toriyama (if anything at all), the most recent information always has canon priority, and the most recent information is that potara and fusion dance are different but equal ways to the same overall result.
Gogeta may have lost here, but I'd still like to see him face off against Omnimon in a future DB.

I keep coming back to this battle, it's just so good, and both opponents are perfect warriors in spirit so the fight is so pure. The animations and expressions showed just how passionate both Gogeta and Vegito are about fighting, right up until the final fist bump ❤

I love the ending where Vegito fistbump the petrified smiling Gogeta. He know it was close and rather than making a quip about how he is stronger of the two like how I imagined he would, him fistbumping basically says "GG, man. Could have gone either way.".
Well Vegito is slightly stronger due to the rival boost but he holds an unlimited amount of respect for Gogeta regardless because in the end of the day they are nearly the same.

Gogeta’s soul Judgment is really strong, but is effective only if the opponent is evil, wich Vegito isn’t. The moment i saw the final clash i already knew Vegito was going to win
Fun fact: Both fusions would love being able to do this fight, considering they both have a similar in the way they they never know if they will ever come into existence again, so they savor every fight.

honestly my only issue is the people in the comments, do none of you remember how clearly it's been stated that the potara fusion is stronger than the fusion dance?
Really thought Gogeta was gonna win, but I am glad to hear how CLOSE the match actually was, really shows how powerful both fusions are in canon.

Actually in terms of personality Vegito was never overconfident and goofy. His whole fight during Buu was to get in buu's head to mess with him so he could purposely get absorbed so he could free all the people he stole. Gogeta on the other hand was 100% a goofball during omega shenron
Gogeta had a reason for being goofy as well. He was trying to provoke Omega to fire his Negative Karma Ball so that Gogeta could turn it into positive energy, and then kick it into orbit, thereby freeing Earth from the negative energy of the Shadow Dragons. After that, that's when he got serious and tried to kill Omega with his Big Bang Kamehameha.
@@teddythekingofbears How would Gogeta even know about that? Also Gogeta used his Ki to turn the negative ki into positive Ki so he wouldn't need Omega's attack at all but use his own which is what he did. So GT Gogeta didn't need to act silly.
@@mrkmoney1234 he knows about that because the Shadow Dragons are composed of Negative Energy. He was waiting for Omega to launch a super powerful attack which he could convert into positive energy.
@@teddythekingofbears Knowing that they are composed of negative energy doesn't mean he knew that Omega would make a huge negative Ki ball. And that wouldn't matter if Gogeta could just release his own positive energy which makes Omega's Ki ball unneeded

Damn, I just noticed Gogeta went Blue Evolved at the very end while struggling against the Kamehameha... while Vegito went Kaio-Ken to finish him off... that's some nice attention to detail. Props to the animator.

Honestly, with these two already in FighterZ, this is a nice change of pace to see how a battle to the death would go. And even revisiting this episode, the ending of the fight is super intense, damn!

in this episode the voice actor for goku is the same voice actor for serial designation: N from murder drones.
The fist bump at the end was a very nice touch!

We all know the fist bump was the Goku side saying nice fight while the vegeta side was saying he died like a true saiyan warrior
The ending is a Asura reference when Asura defeat his brother-in-law Yasha in a battle of "Who's the strongest" when the world was ending in the background. Once Yasha is defeated and dust away, Asura give a soft fist bump.

i feel like whether which fusion is better is situational and personal beliefs. like they said they are the same person so its really up to you who you believe is stronger

At the end, Gogeta smiled at Vegito as he knew, Vegito was not evil as the stardust breaker didnt kill Vegito and enjoyed the fight till the end.
And too add that vegito did the bro fist as to imply in a good fight. (Also too add they might need to revive gogeta goku and vegeta again)
