For those disheartened by “Nobody notices your watch,” don’t be disillusioned as thieves will take notice.
Yeah they will :(
That's nice to be cared for .
Not enough care in this world .
If I was to walk past Harrods with a gold 60’s plated or an 18K Omega watch, the thug wouldn’t know the difference, he/she would see gold.
keep in mind that not everyone is complimentary, but they may have noticed that you are wearing a very nice watch
Yes, this is true! 🍸🍸
I was having breakfast with friends and one of them said ¨that watch messes with your head¨ I was wearing a Vostok with a 24 hour dial, so I presume he thought it was wrong and then noticed the dial markings 😁
Oh cool! 24hr dials are super cool! I should get one sometime.
The only entity that is really impressed by my watches is my bank account.
lol! True! My bank account loves/hates them. :)
When people are saying #mamacoo is a better option,I very much agree!
It's just a great looking watch. It's always good to remember, it's about enjoying what you wear, if you're out to impress someone else, you're in the wrong game.
Yep. If you want to impress others buy the old skool Batmobile :) 🍸🍸
Absolutely true. The only times I’ve ever had my watch noticed, it has always turned out to be by another watch collector.
Yep. :)
I've found that's not true in my case .
Somebody complimented my Swatch skeleton recently , when I told them it's a Swatch they asked me what is Swatch .😂
@@julienfroidevaux1143 Oh cool! Swatches are totally compliment-worthy!
@@KillingTimeWithNorman I care about your watch's .
@@julienfroidevaux1143 Awwww :)
I commented on a colleagues watch yesterday. He was wearing an Oris. So I thought perhaps, since it was not an obvious choice watch, that he might appreciate a comment on it. But no. He did not really care about the watch at all. It was just to tell time.
That's interesting. I totally would have thought the same with an Oris. Crazy heh
from my experience, only people into watches would notice what i may wear , and we are few , but for ADs they definitely notice and examine what i wear at first time dealing with them , second time they may not bother.
Yep. 🍸🍸
On the opposite side: do you ever compliment a person for his watch?
During the highest point of COVID-19, during a line-up, I saw a guy (complete stranger) wearing a mechanical chronograph! I complimented the guy & suddenly started talking watches, man that was way cool! 😎
I very rarely strike up conversations. If they happen organically, I'm all about it. So I'm guilty as charged. BUT I do have a story. I'll do a follow-up video. 🍸🍸
The concept of impressing other people is interesting for what it says about how our tiny minds work. The people most intent on impressing never notice that they are themselves immune to being impressed and never notice anything about other people beyond whether or not they're gazing back enviously. (If they notice them at all, bystanders will probably have a look of contempt or hostility toward the guy in the loud, expensive sports car or whatever.) On the other hand, the instant connection with others who like watches is a very nice thing, as is anything that inclines us to see strangers as being in some way similar to ourselves. You would never bomb or strafe anyone wearing the same watch as you. I sure wouldn't.
Excellent observations, sir! 🍸🍸
So true. Thank goodness for the internet! I do have one watch that gets comments though - a bright yellow Casioak. Cheers.
Oh that sounds like a cool watch! Congratulations on that one!
That is the God honest truth Norman. Us lonely watch nerds are few and far between. Yet, here I often sit and ponder what to wear. But whether that turns out to be Timex or Cartier, no one actually cares.
Yep. 🍸🍸
Excellent vid as usual and you are spot on. I am wearing my little Seiko SNK809 tonight and It think it is a perfect example of this. It is a small, somewhat understated watch that no one ever notices or cares about...but I just adore it. It fits me perfectly and I like to have options that are light on the wrist. I've got it on a nice burnt brown leather strap which is just perfect for spring weather.
That is soo cool! I love it when I'm wearing a watch I like so much I'm constantly staring at it throughout the day :)
True. Nobody cares. In the city I live in even less. Most here are students and those wear a Fitbit maybe but not to tell the time. 🕐⚙️🍸
Ahh. Yep. 🍸🍸
I bought this popular video watch from nkuwan , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
Um I'm good on the picking up feces front. :)
This is true - I’ve owned countless watches from fashion watches to higher end grail watches - NOBODY ever noticed or said a word
The ONLY watch I ever owned that people noticed? Tissot PRX 35mm silver dial - and then only by women because the watch catches the light well and looks pretty from any angle
PRXs do look pretty great! 🍸🍸
I totally agree with other commoners not noticing our brilliant and specially procured time pieces. It still gives me pleasure to wear them though. Every time I visit my watchmaker they are very complimentary so at least I have that. Great subject Norman!
Yep. And yes - it's SUPER cool to get a compliment from your watchmaker! 🍸🍸
Thanks!
It's true. I was having lunch with two friends, and I noticed we were all wearing watches. I didn't say anything, and neither did they.
I'll have to tell the story of when I didn't say anything... but my wife DID. And it ended up being a super cool night.
Thank you. this video helped me repair the day jump lever.
🍸🍸
@@KillingTimeWithNorman apologies. While I loved this video and agree with it, my bird brain thought I was commenting on a completely different video.
@laststopwatchchannel Oh! hehe - it happens
So far, I've only ever received two compliments...one for my Citizen Eco-Drive diver well over 10 years ago, and the Wise Hitman HIT66 recently got a "what Watch are you wearing? Nice!"
Oh! The Hit66 looks pretty cool!
You could be dying from a heart attack on the floor of the train station in NYC and passengers will step over your dying body to make their train.. So you really think they would stop, look at the ground and notice the watch on your epileptic spasming wrist as you take your final breaths?
That is a sad but true fact. Yep.
I fully agree! No one gives a hoot, apart from fellow watch nerds. But we really do...☺️ I have had two comments over app 10 years. One for my Omega Speedmaster, and one time for my Guinand GMT. But thats it.
Oh! I had to look up Guinand :)
Wow there's some pretty cool looking watches by that brand. 🍸🍸
So very true... Nobody cares (unless they're a fellow watch nut)
I've only had people comment about just one of the pieces in my collection - My Sea-Gull 1963. I've probably been complemented by about ten people when wearing it.
Ah that IS a gorgeous piece! Deserving of the notice. 🍸🍸
It's true in many ways that Yes, it's very rare to get a compliment.
But, I've been lucky to meet and make good friends through watches. There's even one watch which three of us own, the Orient Star RK-AW0004S. 😊
That is so cool! The watch nerd community is one of the coolest I've encountered. Soo many good friends through YT and IG. Nicest people ever :)
@KillingTimeWithNorman It was also a struggle convincing other so-called enthusiasts that there's life and value outside the ubiquitous Rolex, Seikos and brands sold in malls.
@@tonyvera-cruz6422 Yes.. SO much more!
People wear watches for the wrong reasons. I was on an omega FB site and a guy posted his omega seamaster no longer meant anything to him, he was making more money now and he didn’t care, he could just throw it into the sea and it wouldn’t bother him. He asked if anybody else had the same feeling. I responded he should put it away in a drawer and in a few years he will find it again and it will bring back memories. People don’t care about your watch, it’s about you and the watch. The joy it brings
Yep it totally is! Re: between you and the watch. 🍸🍸
I guess it may be the area in which you live or the circles of people who you associate with dictates if people notice what your wearing. My last job, i traveled from Va, SC, WV, NC and even Indiana. I always worked with the higher ups in these businesses. So, they usually noticed when i wore a nice or unique watch. But , I'm the guy to give a compliment also. Plus it's alot of watch nerds in my area.
Ah ok, cool! 🍸🍸
My dady bought one #nkuwan and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
Oh cool! 🍸🍸
Hey Norman. I have that same Citizen Promaster Diver only mine is blue with a sunburst dial. I also have the Citizen NY0040 Promaster. Both great watches.
I think you're right in your assessment. Nobody cares, well except for fellow watch nerds. They might.
Oh cool! I loved my Promaster - And a coworker of mine had the same exact watch hehe
It's not that straightforward, "black and white". Some don't notice, some don't comment.
Do an experiment as I did: hack your watch and wear it like that or set an obviously wrong time - much more people noticed than I expected. It's the compliment that's the problem - still not sure why. People do not compliment watches. I wear various jewellery and get compliments for various pieces A LOT more than for my watches.
Oh that's VERY interesting! Great idea for an experiment!
I believe that watch nerds are a rare breed. I noticed that most watch nerd youtube channels have only a few subscribers also. Watches are not popular. There are some watch nerds out there that strive to be noticed though. What about those Invicta monstrous hideously ugly watches? This particular group of nerds is sensitive about any criticism sent their way from non Invicta fans. They believe that Invicta watches are rare works of art. I think they crave attention but since they cant get attention by wearing traditional watches they wear big ugly watches. I wonder if Invicta freaks get any attention with their watches? Remember that rapper that wore the giant clock on a pendant on his chest to get attention? Can you think of any other examples? Its actually a little disappointing to know that no matter what watch you wear no one cares even a little. But knowing this gives you freedom to wear what you want when you want to wear it. No one cares!
Wearing clocks: Flava Flav!!
Yes, I've seen the sensitive threads hehe. Yep - wear whatever you want :)
Never had a conversation about watches I didn't start mate😂 I've long championed the Nivada as a credible re-issue not bandwagon jumper that looks more like the original Igeneer while not costing &14,000😂 Although my fave is the blue no-date
I'm a huge Nivada fan now :)
nkuwan I love you so much and watching your videos makes my day brighter
Aww thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words!
No one cares, due to my work, wearing a lovely 1967 Timex 21 with a dot-dash golden dial, gold plated with a gilt expending bracelet, as east to take off, I try to flash some of rare watches to get an reaction, only one person noticed my 1965 black dialed Verity, apart from that Norman, unless it’s a high-end Omega, then no one cares 🥹.
Truth. :)
🍸🍸
@@KillingTimeWithNorman 07:46 here in London, one person did stare my watch on the bus the other day, maybe she wanted to know the time - Killing Time with Jack.
