I love Cartier and I love the Crash too. I don’t think there is anything wrong with liking both. And I think part of fashion is, or should entail, being yourself and just liking what you like. I like a lot of watches other people like but fortunately I love some weird ones also. If we all liked the same ones, probably most of us wouldn’t be able to afford a watch irregardless of how much we wanted one!!! 😜

Precision and accuracy are very different scientific terms. I had to learn this while studying physics and going through the college party scene.

As a scientist by training, the acceptance of only saying "accuracy" when describing precision irks me. However, an accurate watch will remain so when it is precise and is set correctly so technically, our desire for accuracy still follows our desire for precision. An accurate yet imprecise watch set correctly will not remain accurate, and a precise watch set inaccurately will remain inaccurate, so citing accuracy without acknowledging precision is not necessarily incorrect, it is only incomplete.

I love the Cartier Crash, it is a work of art to be worn on one's wrist. Too bad they cost almost as much as a starter home on the secondary market.

Norman. I never knew that Stewart Grainger inspired the Cartier Crash. Of course, we can all more or less ascertain that folks mean to write couldn't, or could not care less. And I guess that a clock can be precisely inaccurate lol. Big Ben is precisely that. The weight of the pendulum is ever so slightly off. For all these centuries it has been stacked with old English pennies to make up for the original design fault.

Interesting as never had an issue with wrist size, only ever bought the watch and worn it, although I have a calipre device, like you Norman, measure in inches, yet watch sizes are in metric, nothing bigger than 32/33mm minus the crown, yet can wear a bigger 34mm, if only I had a bigger wrist - Jack from London 🇬🇧

I love the dial and i have seen the the other dial variations and they're great too. But, i dont understand the compass bezel. Not unless, your walking in a straight line.

I bought my Sarb017 Alpinist, 5 years ago, I paid 80 percent more than it was retailed originally. To say that “I love this piece” would be a huge understatement… it is more than that.

That's quite a collection of attractive and interesting watches. Robert Downey Jr., as you probably know, is a serious watch aficionado, so we can be assured that he didn't choose his watch with an eye to one upping anyone with how expensive the Reverso is. This all makes me think of Bill Gates and his Casio MDV-106. I initially resolved to buy one of the other models of the series in order to avoid looking like a Bill Gates fanboy but they are all ugly and discontinued and so all my fans and admirers will have to make whatever assumptions they see fit. I wish I could wear something like my dad's old Swiss pilot's watch he picked up in 1945. I think the balance staff broke every few years so he switched to who knows what but it was more unique than you could possibly imagine. (I don't know what that means but I still had to work it in there. There are compulsions that mere mortals are powerless to resist.)

Evening from London, one watch to look out for was worn by the late English actor, John Gregson [1919-1975] in the 26 episodes of the Gideon’s Way tv series on CZcams, was either gold or gilt, had a black dial and original leather strap, unable to make out its origins, possibly someone could help here - Jack 🇬🇧.

The Reverso wins, although I can’t wear rectangular watches. The IWC is cool because you get a one hand watch with an additional minute dial. The other IWC looks very classy and you are totally right about the date window! 🕐⚙️🍸
