Costco Adirondack Chair - Bad Reviews Addressed and Build Tips

- I address some bad reviews for the Adirondack Chair by Leisure Line sold at Costco, as well as go over some helpful build tips.
Three Main Tips:
1) Do not build by hand. Use an impact driver or drill. But be careful not to over tighten fasteners.
2) Do not use a #2 Phillips bit. Use a #2 Square bit (AKA Robertson bit) to avoid stripping the heads.
3) Pre-feed fasteners so you can guide them into the pilot holes.

There is absolutely NO WAY I would have been able to put this chair together without screwing it up. There was way too many things left for us to guess. You saved my butt! Thank you!!
Do you know the cost ?
This was one of the most helpful "how-to" videos I've watched. We bought the exact same chair and this video probably saved us so much frustration and time to get both of our chairs built quickly with the tips!
Thank you kindly for your wonderful instructions! This 76 yr old grandmother assembled a white Adirondack chair and one more to go … (the guys were on the lake fishing) - we now have six Costco chairs and we are so happy with them …. the only tip I have is taking a Sharpie to the little holes that you have to line up … it made it so much easier finding the holes on my white chairs even with the screws slightly fed through … you are the best!
Best 'how to' video on the internet! Thanks a million, you saved me a lot of time! Great step by step tutorial!
Thanks for a very straightforward, easy to understand DIY video. Super helpful.
The provided directions were terrible. Thank you for the much needed tutorial
Thank you so much! Your video was so hopefully. We assembled the first chair in just over 30 minutes and avoided the challenges we would have encountered without your vide.
This was a lifesaver - thanks for posting! We ended up having to take apart one of the back legs as it was assembled wrong (back-to-front) and the power tools definitely helped!
Really Helpful! I also had the problem where the legs were too far apart but had no clamp. So I put a loop of rope around the bottom of the chair and used a stick to wind the rope until the screws were aligned with holes.
Great idea!
The reviews on costco's website were making me hesitate to buy the chairs, but now I feel confident to order them ! Thank you for your review & tips
This was a fantastic video. Thank you so much for all the great tips. They really helped the whole assembly to go smoothly and successfully. Great job!
Great video Jeff, I put 2 of these together 2 weeks ago and stumbled on this tonite. The only recommendation I would make is on the back hold off tightening the top screws all the way down until you have found your pilot holes for the bottom 4 screws. Same issue with the handles on mine. I also waited until the chair was completely assembled before I tightened up all the screws just to make sure nothing was in a bind. I saw another comment about the pins falling out, I wish I would have had the foresight to epoxy mine in because on the back leg mounts, the pins are potentially absorbing some of the weight, and I wonder how strong the chair will be with just the single screw holding it. And in case anyone is wondering, I think they are well made, probably not as thick as Polywood, but close to it. I was impressed enough to pick up 2 more and order a table and couple of footrest
Great additional points here. Thanks for sharing, Don!
That was extremely helpful, thanks a ton! Costco should pay you for making this video. Great work!
Thanks to your video… 20 minutes on my first chair! Thank you 🙏. One thing I noted was it if I put the locating pin in the piece of furniture that I was attaching every single one of them was snug and had to be tapped in, which is what you want, and then they all went into the furniture side of things easily, which is what you want to. your video is absolutely the best. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
I have watched all the videos for how to out this chair together. This is the one, folks. no need to watch another one.
Suuuuuperhelpful! Saved me the whole weekend and did both chairs in under 30-mins. Thanks!
Nice job. I bought a couple of these from Costco and have been dreading the assembly. Thanks to you, I can build the first one as if it is my second build!! Thanks so much!!
You saved my life today with this video. I was lost when I got to placing the back of the chair. The instruction sheet sucks.
You did a fabulous job of showing the little distinctions and tricks. THANK YOU!
Thanks for taking your time to make this video. Absolutely the best video I’ve ever seen!!!
Much gratitude--this video made putting the chairs together way simpler. Thanks a million!
Thank you so much. This was excellent! The best lesson on putting these chairs together.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I was stuck on Step-2 for the reasons you explained. After watching your video, it was a breeze! I just used a manual screwdriver, my drill didn't provide enough torque. The impact driver you had would have been much easier, though.
Very good tutorial. I just finished putting mine together today. I think that the weakest points on these chairs is the lag screw that is used to secure the bottom portion of the legs (all 4) to the chair. I think that I am going to remove the lag bolt and replace it with a stainless steel bolt and nut to secure the parts with compression rather than waiting for that screw to pull out of the rather soft plastic
Thank you! My husband and son and I are having such a frustrating time putting these chairs together! Great video
Thank You Jeff! Your video is a must have guide to assemble these Adirondack chairs. Could not have done it without your video.
Thank you so much! Best explanation. Still had issues with holes lining up but this video helped.
Excellent Video Jeff. Followed all the way through. Never looked at printed directions. No problems. Thanks!!
As has been said, outstanding video! Assembly went perfectly. I put one wrinkle into the process. It’s really hot and humid today, so I assembled them in the comfort of my family room under a ceiling fan. Nice and cool. The only thing I didn’t do was put on the arms. This allowed me to (carefully!) turn them on their sides and easily walk the through the side doorway with a couple of simple turns. Put the arms on outside. Saved myself a lot of hot work today. Overall super easy thanks to this video.
Thanks. Your advice was incredible!!! I got them together without any problems. They had made some improvements to the forms but i still need your help to put them together.
You did a great job on this, honestly. THANKS!
Thanks so much! We just got 4 delivered and I’m challenging hubby to assemble in 2 hours after watching this:)
Theme is pre-drill your screws. Love it. Great lighting, among other great things in this video. Thanks.
The instructions were worthelss, even if u are hany , it fustrating and u needed a vid to assemble it. U covered it well. What people need to keep in mind , especially costco shoppers is their is a weight limit on the chair. Have u ever see the size of costco shoppers , the people who buy a bag of M&M's with 5,000 in their and eat them all , and sample every item the store is giving away. Their carts are overflowing with all high fat prepared meals and rhey want to know why the chair cant support them. It supports me just fine!!!! Great video
I was able to put my first chair together with a screwdriver. Brutal. I have since bought an impact drill for the second drill. Thank you for the video!!!!
So I never comment on CZcams videos but I gotta thank you so much for this one. You tips helped me put together 4 chairs in less than 2 hours!!! Thanks you!!!
The devil is in the details as the saying does. This video is so tremendously helpful and as the reviewer below states - "it saved me so much time" and I might add frustration as well.
Thanks for putting out such a great tutorial.
Without your help I would have been totally screwed! The directions were totally useless. Bless you!
Dude, this was a very good video. Great job! Made my life a heck of a lot easier. I had to build 4.
Great video very very helpful. Just built it! Robertson bit!!! Exactly!!! Thanks again!
Thanks man I just bought some used open box locally. 2 for $140. Your video helped with inventory of product before purchasing and assembly.
Thanks for the video. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble. You cleared up several what the heck moments
Great instructions! Followed your video and put together 4 chairs! Thanks!
You literally help me so much! Thank you
Thank you so much for a very helpful video. I really appreciate you
Thank you so much for this video! Without it I would have definitely given up and returned it! Instructions were awful!
Thank you so much for this video. Made my assembly so smooth. You are the best Thanks!!
The arms and the screw not lining up in the back as you described is what drove me crazy. Unfortunately I didn’t see this video until after. Looks like I have some adjustments to make 🤬
But thanks a ton for the great video!!!
It would have taken me at least half a day if not more to assemble one chair had I not gone through your video. I could not get the hole in the rear of both arm rests to align but drilled a small hole to fix this problem because I had not watched the video to the end. Anyway I will use your suggestion to put in the screw at an angle on the next chair. Many thanks for posting this video. Costco should be linking to it when they sell these chairs. And I also would not recommend using manual screwdrivers to assemble these chairs.
Great video and thank you..I have 4 of them to put together and you probably saved my sanity
This video was very helpful!!! Thank you, I really appreciate it!!!!
Thanks for the master class !! You save me a lot of frustration
Very useful, thanks! Your production is so thoughtfully designed and carefully filmed to make it super clear. Very crisp and compact instructions and no irritating music in the background.
Excellent“How To” video. Thank you so much!
Picked up 2, piece of cake to put together. Thanks for the video.
Awesome video! I didn't even use the included instructions.
Unreal great video. Thank you ! Made it a breeze
I had a fun time assembling these and didn't have any issues with their directions. I wonder why other people were struggling, I used hand tools and had 0 issues.
I put 2 of these together by hand with 2 regular screwdrivers and a mallet this afternoon and wish I’d known about pre-feeding the screws! I built them where they will stay! I won’t tackle another project like this w/o power tool and attachments!
Amen to that!
#liveandlearn
Thanks for the video!
Thank you very much!
Thanks so much! Great video! 8 chairs made simple!
Had no chance following the instructions. Perfect help video. Where can I nominate you for sainthood.
Thanks man!!!
Didn't even bother with their directions, just followed the video! The only alteration I had to make was to epoxy in both pins on the rear supports. Since the pin hole is drilled all the way through the supports, I found that they fell out once I placed the chair on its side.
Great chair but it was a pain to put together, thanks for the tips.
Has anyone seen a review and/or assembly instructions for the small table that Costco also sells to go with these chairs?
nice job!
Thanks for your video. You’re very helpful. Are these gray? It looks darker than the gray on the Costco ad.
Yes, they're gray. But definitely a darker gray.
@@that1jeff325 Thank you!
Dude your awesome!!!
How hot does the dark plastic get when sitting out in the sun?
That's why I will never buy them.
I probably packaged that chair lol
💪🏽
Comfort
Thank you so much !!!! Instructions were horrible. The video is perfect , step by step.
Throw out the printed instructions and watch this instead.
DON'T BUY THIS CHAIR
Great video though 😎
