- These Adirondack chair plans are my favorite! They have been built tens of thousands of times. Easy to build with modern styling. About $30 in materials to build each one. Free plans: www.ana-white.com/woodworking...

I could barely operate a saw but you inspired me. Went out and bought a miter saw and have made 6 of these chairs for our fire pit. Now, my wife’s sisters are requesting them. They are so comfortable and easy to make. I’ve got my own assembly line going now. Lol
Nice😂
😂 me too
Just made it with what I had laying around. Used 1x6 for the seat and back. Came out great! Thanks for the plans
This is great. Of all the videos on this kind of chairs I've seen claiming to share plans, you are the ONLY one that actually does. Thanks for sharing Ana
I have lots of admiration for the parents' patience with kids at home through the lockdown days. Your kids are too cute, and the chair is awesome. It's on my list.
i just finished 2 of these yesterday. they are super comfortable. thanks!
Completed my first chair today. Took me 5 hours to build. Such a comfy chair! Thanks so much for your vid and link to instructions!
Ana, I really appreciate the easy to follow directions, and common sense. My wife has been really adamant about getting these chairs for the back patio. I am going to build them myself. You are awesome! thank you.
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement czcams.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
That fifth piece... YOU.ARE.BRILLIANT!!!
Thanks so much! My dad and I made 4 of them. Thay turned out great and now I have these great memories with my dad 🙂
So awesome!!
Thank you so much for doing this video and posting the plan designs!
I used it to make 2 chairs as a “corona project” with my kids.
We used reclaimed wood from their play set and 2x4’s from a wall I took down in the house.
I took some liberties with the measurements as the 2x4’s were a little warped and distressed :)
Thanks again!
Perfect timing. My wife and I were talking about building some adirondacks. Love the modern look. THANKS!
Explaining what you're doing in lamens terms while you provide a step by step by step instructions is unheard of nowadays. GREAT job on the chairs. Definitely a breath of fresh air. 2 THUMBS UP 👍👍. And 2 more THUMBS UP 👍👍 for the little man.
My friend and I made 4 of these over the 4th of July weekend and painted them a bright red and they are now placed around my Solo stove fire pit area. So happy with the end product... Thanks so much Ana!
My husband built me four a few years ago and he put a 2 x 3'S together 'across the arms between two chairs and made a table..So handy..Love the natural look of wood..
Thank you for sharing your wonderful projects. My husband and I decided to build two chairs, and we invested in a miter saw and we did it. The chairs are beautiful and confortable, and now we spent the hot summer Californian evenings sitting in our new chairs 😊.
your kids are adorable... love that they hang around you. In the long term, they will be like their awesome mama.. 😻
You are the "Queen" of the common sense and sensible projects. Love all that you make
My wife loves these chairs! I loved the simplicity of the plans and the video. After my first two I decided to build my second two with 4x4 stringers instead for added stability. I just added a second 2x4 on my first two and voila.
I just completed this project. It was awesome. Thank you for the clear and easy instructions.
You always gets woodwork looking so easy, but I assume many years of practice. You definitely inspired me to do woodwork myself. Your design looks awesome, thank you for sharing your amazing design. Be careful and safe. God bless you and your family.
I made one of these in roughly 3 hours while at the firehouse. great chair, very comfortable, easy to read plans. I will be making more. Thanks Anna.
Just put together a rough draft using scrap wood I had sitting around, just so I had an idea of how to do it.
Your plans and video were so easy to follow when compared to others.
Looking forward to making the finished article in the spring when I can get outside and enjoy using it.
Thank you!!
Made these chairs this week, worked out great! Nice and sturdy and I like the horizontal back and seat, gives a more contemporary look. Thank you!
I'm always looking for ways to build things that will last, so your build with these chairs fits the bill perfectly. I heard you say that you did a few iterations of them experimenting with angles and such, but I think the one you settled on here is perfect. Great job in the shop and with the kids in tow, it was not only educational but fun to watch that little guy running around while you worked. Great video!!
I've made three now, one for myself as something for my customers to sit in and try it on for size so to speak. I just sold two , stained twice in black for 80 a piece. Brook some pictures, posted it for sale with a raised price of 95.00 before staining, testing the market. Tonight I got an order for two more and the lady would like them stained black so I told her staining would be 35.00 each chair, as it takes time and there are extra cost of brushes and stain to incorporate. She was happy at 130.00 a piece. This is awesome to me because I build another style of Adirondack Chair that is more costly in regards to materials, sanded but unstained for 100.00. So this maybe my new best seller item for this summer. I have made a few changes to the design. The seating boards are 1x5 as I cannot get 1x10 here and they are 24" in length (4 boards required). The back boards are 21" (5 boards required) in length. Also the front leg and arm, I have included a gusset to help brace up the chair a bit better as I found the first chair I made, the front legs seemed a bit unsturdy with only having pocket screws.
I also made a few adjustments to the 3 that I built. I didn’t know how much to charge for them but after reading your post, I can narrow it down. I’ve been told that maybe around $150 unstained to $175 stained or painted.
@@darwinthecat will be increasing my price as well this year. The price of a 2x4 - 8 is 9.99 around here. Nova Scotia Canada, so the price has to be higher to keep the profit margin the same.
Ironic -isn’t it, that now the pandemic has struck, the price of the materials are astronomical.
@@patriciabajcer8930 they say it's due to the US buying up all our lumber, then they said that has caused a shortage at the lumber mills, the they said the mills jacked up their prices so they had to jack up theirs to maintain their profit margin. Yet there's no shortage at the mill that supply us, however they do have prices still but not as high as they had before. The stores are keeping the prices up to recouped their loss in revenue which is understandable but it sure makes it hard for the little guy like me to make a cent.
Your plans are ALWAYS do-able, usable and great looking to boot! Thanks!
Thank you so much!! Completed two of them. LOVE how comfortable they are. Amazing details is the plans.
I just made a couple with my six-year-old son, and now people are putting their orders in for their own, haha.
Thank you!
Love your vids! I find assembling the entire base and the seat, to include the back lower seat stringer cross brace first easier to manage. I also rip the back top back brace at 20 degrees for a cleaner look that allows the 2 vertical back frame pieces to sit flush to brace. I've made about 100 chairs to date and find this step order works best for me.
I would love to see a picture of this modification so I could understand what you are saying.
We have built these and love them!! We also built the patio furniture with end tables, chairs, couch and coffee table!! Great material lists and great instruction! Thank you Ana!!
That is awesome!
Absolutely beautiful, simple design. Your delivery is also so professional and common sense. Keep up this great work. You are awesome.
Love these chairs! Super comfy, even without cushions! I found that using the 5th extra board/piece as a spacer in attaching the front apron board, so you don't have to eyeball or rely on gravity as much. Hope this helps others! What do you think??
My next project. Have looked at a TON of these Adirondack chairs but this one is it. Love your kids! Great video...Thank you!
I just completed this chair and will be making more. Came out perfectly flat, strong and looks great, can't thank you enough for this project.
Glad you like it Jim!
Me and my wife just finished the chair and it's a great design for only $40 dollars in lumber. I was unsure how the sharp front edge of the seat would be but it works out great and is comfortable. Thank you for the design.
My husband is making these this weekend. One chair down, and so far very attractive and substantial.
Built this weekend and I like it allot. It's pretty sturdy and fits my fairly large frame so I figure it would fit anyone under 6' 2" and 340.
After I sand and stain it I might post.
Please update. I'm 5'5 295
Nice DIY project. This reminds me of the chairs my wood working grandfather made in the past.
Thank you so much! I just made my 1st one! 5 More to go. It took less than an hour with your simple plans. I needed some for my new fire pit and could not find any on line or at the stores this late in the Fall. I glad I couldn't because I would not have found your excellent design! You saved me well over a thousand dollars compared to buying 6 adirondack chairs this sturdy! Cheers!
Wonderful!
I talked my stepdad into helping me make 4 of these in redwood for our backyard. It ended up being a family project and I'm so happy with the results. We made the back about 4 inches higher but that's the only adjustment. Love the chairs! Thank you for sharing this plan.
Ana- Your chairs look great! Thank you for sharing! Your area looks to have plenty of outdoor area for your kids to play when the weather is good. It amazes me how your children have grown over the years. It is almost as if you can see their personalities developing & changing in your videos. I am sure during these quarantine times you are busy keeping the children busy. Thank you for sharing your projects and family with us over the years. God Bless you all & have fun. 👏👏💕
I definitely need to find the time to build a few of these for our backyard. What a nice clean simple design! Great video and thanks so much for including free plans!
Those are awesome!!
Thank you for sharing your skills and experience....
I have always loved the way you share your family home build and everything
Smile Dwayne
Adirondack Perfect !
Love from Sweden ...
I can't wait to build these! (By the way, your assistants are adorable!😉)
Fantastic project, both my son and I are building a set of these. Easy and straight forward!
Wow, hats off. Very skilled person. I'll three of these for my patio. Thanks for sharing
Just made one of these chairs and it came out great. I made the back taller for a better fit for my size.
What was your modification, exactly, to the back? I am 6'-4" and wondering if I should also extend the back.
Tip: Whenever needing to make Gaps for Seats and such, Use a 16 Gauge Framing Nail on each end. Works like a charm. Either that or use an actual Harbor Freight Spacer Sticks.
I've been looking to get some spacers and unable to find some locally. Would you mind sharing the link if you see them on harbor freights website? I looked for a bit but can't find them.
I normally just grab 2 #2 pencils for consist spacing, but Anna is a legend and does need this step for perfect spacing.
@@ebraegger55 TBH, I have no clue if Harbor Freight has any, I just said that referring to their cheap tools. But I do believe that Rockler and Lowes have Sets of them. Or, Just use random Definite objects around your house such as said above, Big Nails Because the head of it keeps it from falling down, Or #2 Pencils with their octagon shape. Anything will work.
I use paint stir sticks.
Thickness of a speed square. That's what we normally use when doing decking. Just make sure all parties installing decking have the same square. 😉
My bf and I are going to attempt four of these soon for our firepit! LOVE the modern look and how simple and cheap they are to make.
AWESOME!
Another great build! Thank you Ana for all the awesome projects. Also love seeing the kids hanging with mom in the shop. God bless you and your family!
Thank you so much!
I just went and built one out of material I had on hand. I didn’t have any 1x10 so I used 5/4 red cedar x 6. And I changed the width of the back to 24in. We are a little larger. I could not figure out how to post a picture on the site. Great plans. Thank you.
I’m SO glad to hear! Thank you so much! You can submit photos here www.ana-white.com/node/add/brag_post
Team Frankenmerc so basically, instead of (5) 2x4s cut to 19.5”, you just did the two for the vertical legs, and the other three you cut to 24”? Everything else stays the same (other than obvi the seat and back planks)? Also thinking maybe just cutting a third 19.5” to use as a temp holding block like she did while putting on the back. I’m wanting to do the same and am building a pair this week.
The free plans are really appreciated... you should create a tip jar of some sort for people that want to say "Thanks"
Patreon account would cover that lovely in fairness. Great idea
Hi
How can I get a copy of cut list Anna?
Thank you for these Ana! I love working with your plans! Thanks for encouraging us to make our own things!
Thank you, I'm happy you like it!
Great chairs and easy to follow plans. Thanks Ana!
Thanks for sharing and are you sure we can't "borrow" your helpers ? They are adorable! This is also perfect for summer !
What kind of stain did you use for these chairs? Looks great!
I have been scouring the website and youtube comments trying to figure out the same thing!
Made my first two yesterday. About to make 4 more at the moment. Just picked up the stain this morning as well. Thanks for the plan! Very easy to make, and very comfortable chair! Hope to use them for many years around the fire pit.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing!
You posted this 3 yrs ago...and its still helping others... i dumpster dove for some plastic ones that are all broken and now in the burn pile... im going to build these chairs. Thank you so much for posting
Great, so happy you found value here!
I would love to try this... as a rocker?
Something like this as listed on Overstock
www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hemlock-Adirondack-Rocker/19683583/product.html
How would I go about adding a pair of curved bands beneath?
My husband is beginning to get annoyed that I keep asking him if Anna does it that way? When he is doing a project .... 🤷🏼♀️
@Sunshine Photography..... Love it!! I would probably do the same with my husband but usually I'm the one doing the building, LOL
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That’s so gay
@@DilettanteDon Don't be so fragile.
Thanks for making the plans public, made one today and very happy with it. An easy build, handy stock sizes and clean lines, simple to take care of.
Nice work!
Thanks so much for your plans. As a beginner to woodworking, finished 2 in about 4 days. Staining took forever but very happy with the build. Thanks for keeping it easy.
Finishing generally takes the longest! Thanks for sharing.
"Use a Kreg jig so your screws aren't visible". *proceeds to use a few dozen other screws that are visible*.... Great project, but the pocket screws don't make a lot of sense here.
Definitely making these next weekend! Thanks for thinking of all the details!
I love all your projects! It is great to watch you with power tools. The impact driver is in my top 3 tools that I can't live without haha. Your kids are adorable, xoxo
Thank you so very much
This is exactly the design I was hoping for, thanks also for doing the prototypes and perfecting the design.
I will let you know how they turn out, I am building them for me and my 4 kids.
Great to see your kids getting involved.
My almost next project, thank you for the modern take on this style of chair.
You are awesome! Thank you for all the free plans ❤️
Nice design, loved seeing your helpers with you. Thanks for sharing.
Good easy plans. Built 2 and turned out great, THANKS
Damn, thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for .. I am not a total beginner, but definitely not experienced and your plans were so spot on. I actually got an education on the Kreg Jig, self tapping screws and pocket screws... Bought the 520 Kreg Jig and love it!!! Forever thankful, these are going on my porch, great curb appeal!!!
Awesome, so happy to hear that!
Great design. I'll give this a go when I can get some timber. Thank you Ana. 🙏🏻
Thank you for the idea. I modified the arms to be rounded over on the ends, and cut the front, and upper horizontal support at 20 degrees. I also used 1×6. Your video and Pintrest post helped so much.
Nice work!
Hi Anna, thank you for inspiring me to build Adirondack chairs. You are awesome!!
I love watching you work on your projects. It gives me confidence that I can do them myself. You are awesome!
You can do it!
Awesome plans! Built two in about 1.5 hours. Very comfortable and affordable. Two thumbs up. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad to hear! Thank you for trusting us!
Ana you and your hubby are so talented! The things you can make are amazing! Thank you for sharing all that you do. BTW love that house you guys built in Alaska! Now thats some real talent!
You hit it out of the ballpark every time. You are such a creative thinker. You are kind and generous as well as pretty. Lynette
Great video. Your free plans were easy to follow and made the chair build quite easy. Very satisfied. Keep up the great work.
I can’t wait to build these. Thank you so much for this great info ! 👍
Built one of these the other day, didn't come out quite as well as I hoped, I rewatched the video and saw where I may have gone wrong. All in all it came out pretty good for my second ever woodworking project. Thanks so much
Glad I could help!
Great job. Made four of them. Came out really well, thank you!!
Just finished building two of these chairs for my RV lot. Only thing I changed was I used 1 x 8, for some reason I can't get 1 x 10 at any of the lumber stores around my area, looks great and super easy to build. Thanks so much Ana!
Nice work!
Built two and I love them. I used 1x6 because I couldn’t find the right 1x10 at Home Depot. Used 3 boards for seat and 5 for back. They look great. Thanks for the instructions!
Great to hear!
Cool design! I think I can actually make this, very excited, thank you!
Perfect! Just in time to make them for my porch. They will be next to my Ana White planting bench! Every time I see Adirondack chairs I am reminded of a New Yorker cartoon where someone throws a rock in a yard in PA with a note attached that said "If you know what's good for you, you'll get those Adirondack chairs out of the Poconos!" My grandfather had a couple of chairs and I couldn't wait to be big enough to use them comfortably. Nice memories.
Ana, thank you for putting this out there. The details are appreciated, I will build one and see how it comes out, the sizing looks great can not wait to build one!
Wonderful, enjoy!
They look awesome! Great job.
Ana, I can't believe how big your younger children have gotten. Growing to fast. Another great video and project build. Really like the looks of this chair. Might give it a try. Thanks for posting.
Totally making these once I finish my deck I'm redoing...Exactly what the wife requested...nice chair & video!
hands down most comfortable chair. awesome design. everyone loves these!
So happy to hear that!
Thank you so much! I can't wait to build these!
I built this chair for my front porch and loved it so, i had to build another. I used cedar and painted 2x4's black. They are beautiful and super comfy. Thank u for the inspiration 😁💜
Wonderful to hear, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing theses plans.... Lovely chair.
Ana=Awesome! So amazing! I have taken the design for your original Adirondacks and are constantly making them as gifts for people. It’s a perfect “his and hers“ gift for our friends. My wife always says “Does Ana have any new builds you can do?“ Now I’m going to try this one! Thank u!!
Wonderful!
Stunning work Ana!
Thk you ✌️
Awesome plans, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for providing these awesome videos with detailed plans!! Your truly helping many people get into the hobby and accomplish things we never thought we could!!
My pleasure!
