It was one of the best decisions I ever made because it not only taught me discipline but it got rid of ANY ideas in my head about being able to face a man when guys smaller than me could still kick my ass.
    I learned the easy way that you really don’t stand a chance against a man in a physical situation like that and I’m more cautious because of it to this day. Great video.

    I wrestled a girl in high school. She was fast and had great skill as she obviously was trained well..... but it was not fair in any way. The strength difference even at equal weights is 'massive. Technique is important and can win a match but the competitors have to be atleast close to the same strength level. It was honestly like wrestling a 10 year old. She was maybe a tenth of the strength of any guy i ever wrestled. She only scored escape points when i let her up because i didnt just want to pin her in 30 seconds. I commend them for getting out on the map but they should really just have separate gender categories. I felt terrible after the match and was visibly upset..... but her father came and talked to me and made me feel better

    As someone who stood in the national scene in wrestling and participated in the sport for 14 years, I'd like to chime in here.
    Out of respect for the decision and the hard work that a girl had put in, to put on the gear and step out on the mat, she earned the right to square off with me.
    Many people came with the hopes to beat a nationally ranked wrestler, I never once held back because it's disrespectful to your opponent and their efforts.
    I've met some very good female wrestlers, but the curve is to big post puberty. You can just brute force your way through their resistance easily.

    • @Mandolin1944
      @Mandolin1944 Před 11 měsíci

      I appreciated your considered perspective here. It is because of these videos I got interested in the boy-girl dynamic in HS wrestling. I had never much thought about it before. (FYI: I wrestled for 4 years in HS and considered myself at least solid average wrestler -- I was 3rd best -- maybe 2nd 😁 -- in my state senior year. But of course 60 years ago we did not have girls in the sport. Personally I think the whole title 9 thing has been a good thing for girls but a great dis-service (and very unfair) for boys. But everyone has their opinions. As to the boy vs. girl competition I had, on my own, kind of come to the same conclusion as you stated it above. An elite girl wrestler can have some successes against average boys -- especially at the lowest weight classes -- especially with inexperienced or boys who are unusually lacking in strength. But when you start to compare elite boys with elite girls I think that the chances of much success by any girl is rare? Here is a "ball park" calculation I came up with: Since Title 9 there have been approximately 25,000 wrestling matches for a boy's state title ( i.e., 50 states X 40 years X 14 weight classes)! 😀 As far as I know only 3 (maybe 4) girls have won one of those matches (Alaska 2006, North Carolina 2020, Maine 2022)? 😂🤣😂

    • @johnreed9050
      @johnreed9050 Před 7 měsíci

      Girls can have great success at tge lower weight classes. They have a lower center of gravity which makes them harder to take down but once taken diwn its game over. I have wrestled most of my chikdhood and competed against girls. They were treated like any other opponent. I was a spladle king and used that move every time i coukd. I hooked in a girl with it and i got so much heat for it even though i used it on 2 earlier male opponents. The coaches said i shoukd be disqualified even though it was a legal move. I have never seen a girl win any match above the 1445 pound weight class. They get rag dolled because of the strength and speed advantage boys have

    There's a lot of talk here about respect for the girls. I see it the other way around: special respect for the boys here, not the girls. Boys are expected to win. If they then win, it's worth nothing and they often feel bad afterwards. If, exceptionally, they don't win, they will be mocked by their teammates and will be embarrassed. A boy can't win anything in a fight like this, one way or the other. With girls it's the other way around. So why would someone who can't win anything but lose a lot in a fight even fight someone who has nothing to lose but a lot to gain?

      I am sick of watching those videos showing girls who wrestle against little boys and the video makes it seem that the girls dominate the sport. The false narrative that "girls are better than boys" or "the girls are as good as the boys" leads to a false hope for those young girls who become dominated by the boys after the boys have entered into puberty. It is simply a biological fact that girls physically develop a few years before the boys; however, after puberty, there is simply no comparison.

    Anyone involved in sport or physiology knows that you don't match teenage boys and girls in strength events because, once puberty has kicked in, boys will always have an advantage when matched by size. The organisers of these events need to review their policies

    On top of boys being physically built for combat, the consistent trumping of girls in wrestling comes down a something some may call bigoted, but true nonetheless. I'm a high school wrestler. Even when I wrestled a multi-time Women's State Champ Wrestler, I didnt lose either time. Why? I'd get mad fun of. If you go out there, you do your absolute damnedest not to lose to a girl, bc you'd get ragged on. That simple really

      @___________•Error here’s a quote from a woman that is stronger, capable, and cooler than you:
      As a female who is a power lifter and has competed in sports like Kendo with men, I can say that in my opinion there are very few females who can compete at the physical level of most men. I have also built a house with my husband and 2 sons, even as strong as I am I cannot physically keep up with them. Sometimes my husband and I spar as if I were to be randomly attacked on the street. I find that it would be very hard if not impossible to successfully fight off a full grown man especially if they were in a rage. I wish women would just choose to excel in the areas we can be successful in instead of taking over everything. I would never want to be chosen simply because of being female. And as a mother of a son who is enlisting this year I dont want any weak members male or female on his team.

    Just so you all know, this is a specific sample of matches. If I wanted to make a video of the opposite, it wouldn’t be too hard, despite the smaller sample size. This is not EVERY boy vs girl match, just the ones chosen because of the title.

    When boys can match their strength with complete focus and precision technique, they will almost always be able to overcome the obstacle of going against a female. But there are few ladies that can give males a run for their money, like Casey Banon, Heaven Fitch, and dare say,... dare say Amanda Leve, whom has a very strong record against not just boys, but overall competition, even though shes in jiujitsu, its pretty much the sister of mat wrestling, only doesn't have the same rules and restrictions as mat wrestling, but regardless. Those ladies are the best of the best, I've never seen Amanda Leve lose

      @@ButtsandFarts no totally no, she obviously is on a body sculpting diet and puts dedication in the gym, she's been doing mma since she was a little girl, and She is probably on of the best in the world when it comes to jiujitsu. I've never seen her lose. Her commitment, and God given talent is Unparalleled, name another woman that is just as good. It's a shame that she isn't in UFC, but that may be due to her humble nature, and that she doesn't care for global spotlight even though she soars like the beautiful eagle she is
