I've been putting on the miles and I'm finally ready to give a full review for this new flagship Onewheel. Definitely worth watching before you buy!
Edit: Future Motion has since fixed the ghosting issues with a front sensor pad recall.

If my local bike / skate shops could upgrade and repair OneWheel I'd be ordering a GT right now, looks awesome!
Yeah, I think we're all hoping that FM figures something out for licensing repair centers. Relying on the mail system is a really silly way of doing things.
If you get one remember to also get a proper helmet that passes the nta certification, like xnito or bern
I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as most think. Given the scrutiny that FutureMotion is under, I understand their positioning. If right to repair is a must for you, then build one of the VESC units that people are showing you how to do here on CZcams. Costs less. And you can mod all you want.
That ghosting thing should be a deal breaker for anyone. That's not acceptable.

The board looks like a blast, and that's nice they're sending parts but ya definitely doesn't seem like it should be wearing through that fast and the taking off on it's own is worrisome..

Great review, hope my rails don't break like that. I see you're kind of close, if you haven't been, Hornby Island has some wicked trails. I took my VNR Pint around the whole thing last summer, it was pretty epic. I'd like to do it again with my GT someday... it gets here on Friday. That trail from Tofino down to Uclulet is worthwhile too.
One of our favorite spots! Haven't been with the onewheel yet, but those bike trails are awesome - can't wait to go back!

Great video! Riding your GT for a minute got me more onboard with it and the review was great. I'm still holding off until get passed the Beta version and give the ability to mod more. Until then I'm looking forward to many trail rides with your GT and my CBXR to see how they compare.
Yeah man for sure - I think you'll still get more range but the GT has the edge with torque - but looking forward to riding with you to get a better idea of how they stack up!

I am very hesitant because I live in Spain 🇪🇸 and if I need to service the Onewheel GT I need to ship it all the way to California…. Which is a huge expense
It’s a bit of a similar thing as me wanting to get Segway P100 electric scooter and when I want it to get serviced by Segway I need to send it to Barcelona and back, which is approximately €800 / $880 without service costs and parts replaced

Love hearing non-pro riders reviews. Also love seeing the Loops trails. Growing up there I know there would be tons of good trails to rip. I have not yet purchased the GT, might wait another year. I did just order an Enduo tire for my XR.

@@Blox117 let an EUC and a onewheel fall down the hill, it ain't the EUC that's going to still be rideable. EUCs are rad, but so are onewheels!

Some guy made a bracket for an euc so you ride it like a onewheel. If FM dipped into EUC world they would bring a new paradigm to it perhaps. I have an XR and getting a V11 euc too. Two Different things so I’ll enjoy both. Now ce channel.
I rode my 3 year old daughters hover board a few days ago .. now I’m here 😂 this reminds me of the rip stick that I had years ago but “electrical”
It can have a ripstick type feel - especially when you're moving slow. But when you speed up its a lot more like snowboarding 🏂

I’ve ridden a pint and liked it a lot! I think I’m gonna love the off road capabilities of the GT. Especially when they work the bugs out😊
Hi Mike. Thanks for the thoughtful review. I'm looking to get one. I just looks so smooth and flowing. Any advice when beach riding? What's your safety equipment?
Beaches are nice, but electronics don't mix well with salt water - definitely look into badgering the board before you get too close to the water (really easy for the gt, just a couple silicone dabs around the cable connections). As for safety, I have wrist guards and some padded shorts for trail riding, but usually just ride with a helmet.

You have great service because of the video. For everyone else, as end users get replacement front pads would be a little more effort

I'm a freaking nobody, and mines only ghosted once with no damage at all cuz i grabbed it, and no questions asked a new footpad is in the mail.

Very informative video. Can I change my own tire, or is this something I need to get service for? I'v watched some videos about right to repair and that has me questioning regular maintenance.
Yes, you can change your own tire - future motion recently made their tires available for purchase from their website. The problem is because of the weird hub dimension (6.5in instead of 6.0in) there aren't any aftermarket manufacturers yet, which have generally offered better tire options for the boards. Keep a close watch on The Float Life for their Enduro prototype to cone out in the next few months here - should be a substantial upgrade once it drops.
@@MikeErickson if you’re looking for a softer compound TFL did drop the enduro for the GT. it’ll be tough to get your hands on but should be incredible. I love the actual profile of the stock tire but the compound is so hard that the board fights me on really hard turns and bucks on roots. my final upgrade I’m waiting on are lightning rails ⚡️
I’m going to go pick one up in the morning. Hopefully I like riding a onewheel! Not sure if I’ll ever take one on my local mountain bike trails though

Heard you mention 15psi, I was under the impression they wanted 20 psi, so I've left it there, but on the rocky driveway, it is a rough son of a gun.... Going to drop to 15 this afternoon and give it a try!! Thanks
Yeah, it depends on your weight, but 20 is pretty high for this tire. I think you'll like it more at 15, but check back with me!

Interesting that you ride apex on the trails... I find it amazing for pavement but not as nice off-road, that I typically use flow or highline for
Yeah, I just find that apex offers the most power to get through the rockies sections where it's hard to keep speed up. I only use flow for street riding - feels like longboarding!
I like your take. I mostly like mine, but it has ghosted on me once, and i have a new footpad coming, but what's to say the new one will be better? Or not worse even for that matter? I want to like it, I'm trying to, but god the ghosting has just GOT to be fixed soon. On my pint i almost exclusively skid stop, and this has been a difficult transition for me. Not being able to stop my preferred and most comfortable way makes the whole ride a little stressful for me. I'm scared of situations where i NEED to hop off. I feel like my whole warranty is going to go by during a time of over careful riding for fear of ghosting. I don't know... It's just kinda crappy.
I agree it is a crappy thing to have to deal with - and frankly shouldn't happen. They rushed the GT to market and it shows. I've read that the new firmware has fixed the ghosting issue for many people - but even if it did, there's always that chance right! But when you're on the GT, there's no better feeling in the world - flow state on tap. I love the board, but understand the frustrations people have...

I’m 215 pounds. I find the XR struggles getting me on trails with my weight would you recommend saving up buying a GT or is the difference not enough?
Lose some weight. Haha jk. I’m 215 lbs also. And my board doesn’t get anywhere close to the range of my friend who’s maybe 165. How much range do you get on average on smooth surfaces ?

Runs around $150 for XR - there are no after market tires for GT yet because of the 6.5" hub size is not a usual dimension
A perfect place to ride, a GT with no issue --- that is all you need in life, the float life. . . . . .

im your same weight. honestly not a fan of the GT. only 11 miles in but i feel my XR handles the trails better. the treaded tire is way too hard . this board is as nimble as the pint. feel like my ankles are going to snap. hope my feelings change once the enduro comes in.
Nice video! I want to buy my first OW and still don't know if I should buy an used XR or the GT... I like all the mods available for the XR and that's problem are fixable without having to send it back or risk of blocking the firmware..I am in Canada and don't want to send it back to the US for a tire change or a battery replacement.. On the other side, I am not someone who will ride at high speed and having the GT seems safer to me on the pushback side since it's activating only at higher speed + have a beep. I would also appreciate more torque..
If you're 180lb or above, get the gt, if under go with the XR. Also if you might use it as a camera dolly, get the XR

Great video mate.iv subscribed.. can you please tell me..when you mentioned your latest ghosting..is that when you jump off it..i.e. quickly...or does it ghost whilst your on it..I use simple stop to reduce risk of it..thanks a lot 😜👍
It only seems to ghost when you jump off without using the heal lift - which funnily enough, includes falling off your board. Had it happen to me last week with the replacement footpads!

I put a CBXR mini battery into my XR. Over 30 miles per ride and the torque is UNREAL. I'm 180 lbs.
Sick. There's a few of those in our local onewheel group, nice ride for sure - but for heavier riders (200lb +) the gt is king. There's just more torque available. But that VESK controller unit for XRs looks promising. Basically unlocks the full board potential by eliminating all the safety features. Probably not for everyone, but could be great for the few!
Have they fixed the bugs with the gt? Looking to get into the sport and liked the video and need to know if I'm getting a good board now that it's been out for awhile
Hey Chris. I feel for the most part things have stabilized. The only issue now is that the front sensor pad is way less sensitive so people are prone to false starts. A better issue than ghosting to be sure but sounds pretty annoying for folks that have to deal with it. Luckily the Float Life has designed an after-market fix (the sure start) that solves the issue if it's too annoying to live with. Unfortunately it involves opening the controller box which voids your warrantee.
@@MikeErickson if your a first time user and owner, would you suggest the gt or the pint x, the reason I'm thinking the gt is because I'm 6'2 and 200lbs and wear a size 13 shoe lol, any opinion helps thanks
@chrisdisch1995 definitely the gt - I'm 6'2", 200 lb and started with a pint, wanted an upgrade before the month was up. Don't get me wrong - there really isn't a wrong answer - any onewheel is a blast. But if you start with a pint, you'll eventually want a gt. I don't think the opposite of that is true.

Not really, Onewheels aren't really great climbers - it maxes out around 20% grade and chugs along but not fast. You'd want a big euc for that - like the Kingsong S22 or the Veteran Sherman

@@MikeErickson Yes. Bought it this summer, and I had no idea how much enjoyment it would bring me. It gets me outside and exploring my own city and I’ve found trail routes around that i didn’t even know existed. Rode about 200 miles thus far.

Are you saying I get better service due to my massive subscriber count? Naw - I don't think I'm even a blip in the radar - I think I'm just less of an asshole with my correspondence than many folks seem to be. I'm 6'2 and 200lb - I would put you in the 'heavier' category that would benefit most from the GT. It's honestly a game charger as far as what becomes accessible.

How do you like the new firmware?
It's amazing - they reduced the pushback but made the warning beep into a constant tone in the pushback. I think it's the best upgrade we could have asked for - reduced pushback but still the increased safety. Plus flow is so dope now!!
And the tail drag issue should be much better!

It's all pre-update - I considered adding a segment about how the pushback has been improved but it really doesn't change much for my particular riding style - apart from making flow my new favourite profile.

right to repair is the biggest deal breaker to me. so much so that when strangers ask me about my XR anymore I tell them the company who makes it is shady and It's currently not a great time to support them..
It's a bummer for sure. Hopefully this pressure they are getting will force them to change before my tire wears out! I don't want to send this board in just for a tire change!

It cost one wheel more $ for softer better ride tire , softer sides on board , the dollar store also sells hard plastic crap it’s cheaper for them ! Same as commercial mowers they too now come with harder tires , crap !

I bought a Pint from the official website and got it sent to Europe, no problems (even with warranty, it got serviced twice free of charge) a part from the customs and legal warranty being only 1 year. That's why I'd suggest to buy from some European resellers that give you 2 years of warranty and no need to pay for the customs - although you guys are not in Europe anymore so I don't know how that works. I'd suggest to find a reseller in UK

Really disappointing launch for sure. I have been tossing around the idea of getting a OW and after looking into them for the first time I see all of this crap happening. I am a bit surprised the bumpers wore out so quickly, I am guessing this is something that never happened with the XR? The XR seems like a tank, the GT looks like a fancy car you don't want to get scratched.
Only time will tell - but I don't ever grab my XR anymore
@@MikeErickson Funny thing, I ended up ordering one. The Pint X is a bit too small for me and I don't want to go through the hassle of buying a used XR in my area (pretty much non-existent). I figured owning one is better than not and by the time I get mine they will likely have worked out most of the kinks and the 3rd party market will be in a better place.

Why buy a $2600 that you don’t own and that’s made in China buy a EUC made in China but you own it for 2400 bucks 60 mile range 35 to 40 miles an hour lights Bluetooth speakers and the most fun you will ever have
Euc doesn't appeal to everyone. It has absolutely no appeal to me, it's a totally different experience. I'm glad you enjoy it, but it's just not the answer for most of us.
@@Nick-Nasty take your GT apart disconnect everything and then put it back together and see if it works it won’t because you do not own your one wheel they own it you’re just leasing it for 2600 when you can take it apart put it back together or exchange all the parts with it and it works it’s a one wheel that you own I will wait till future Lotion Patton runs out then there will be other companies that will make one wheels much better and at a better price it’s called competition that’s what makes Products better Plus I have an old XR best one wheel made because you can repair it yourself new XR‘s no Take those apart and it will not work I do not give my money to companies that instill communism in their products plus again GT are not American made or made in China with the electric unicycle’s
