That woman is no mom at all. She literally chose that man and HIS kids over HER own daughter. The mom is despicable and the lowest of low. She did the right thing in taking back HER house and cutting off the toxicity. I've always said family is family but toxic is toxic.

The fact that her mom disregarded her feelings by moving her boyfriend and his kids in and taking preference of their comfort over hers needs and wants shows a lack of concern and nurturing care. She did right to kick them out and reclaim her house.

Well it is true he should, but you have to take into account that certain states have different law limits to hand over assets and funds as big as what she had. I am guessing the age limit to receive that at her state was 21 for a number of reasons....for starters her mother is still alive and taking care of the house in her stead...but hey you know how that story went....that and statute of law wouldn't allow by the laws there to hand over assets like the house and if there is a large cash value equal or greater to the house in question to not hand it over to her daughter....of course in cash, there are ways around that since it is her mother, but unless it is stated in the will that it won't be touched by anyone until the new owner comes of age, then it is safe from her mother...if that is the case, I think her father knew about her personality and took steps in protecting what is and what is to be handed down to her in the event of his death....Sorry veeering off topic some...bottom line is ever state has law limits in transfering assets and also there may have been a stipulation put in there by her father...that is always possible too.

The only one that can kick them out of the house would be either a sheriff's deputy or designated official by the local municipality. Changing the locks is actually a criminal offense until the eviction is complete

I would have had all of their stuff packed up and sitting in the garage. Then told them they had two weeks to get it out of there or it was getting thrown out.... She was so nice to them. My father sold my work tools. I got a recorder and asked him why he had done it ? He said "he was tired of looking at them and he wanted the money to help pay off the car". I didn't tell him that I recorded that conversation. And when I got the Court date. Yes I called the cops on him. I played the recording to the judge in front of him. ( His story was, someone must have stolen them or I did it myself) the look on his face was priceless. He went to jail for a year and had to replace them. I never got the money back for the tools and I replaced them all myself...... He was my father but he was never my dad. And he always made sure I knew that I was his mistake. He should have used a condom. Here's a truth for you. When I was 14 , he told me " to leave the house. And I could come back to visit but never stay. I had to pay rent to keep my tools in the garage. $150.00 a month. He was a real piece of work. Family can be loving, caring, supporting. Or they can be cold and cruel. I have seen both sides. I choose to be loving.

I mean how can you possibly justify what you've done? Just accept that what you did was wrong and move on. Only a true dirtbag doubles down and tries to make the victim out to be the bad guy because they want their property back. It doesn't matter how long you've been allowed to get away with your crime. You are still in the wrong. The least you can do is accept the judgement when you are discovered and leave with the tattered shreds of your dignity you have left.

It was Tom being overly controling that Joan just going along with it that were the main problem. While understandably they were minors and had to go with their parents, Lisa could have allowed them the sanctuary of their old home if their father's pretentious behaviors became too problematic. And then maybe discussed how the younger siblings could help contribute towards the living expences if they were to move in an stay.

EDIT: There was one thing that I found wrong with the eviction proceeding. I don't know what country this was supposed to have taken place in but in the U.S. if you want to give someone a timeline to vacate the premises then you need to have them served with a notice to quit and you can't deny them access to the house during the time specified. If you do then they can sue you for wrongful eviction plus I believe you'd be liable for any expenses they incur for a place to live during the time they were locked out.

If this story were true there would have had to have been a legal battle over the will as the wife is generally considered to be inheritor by default. There is no mention of any of that.

I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING LISA WOULD HAVE DONE. I FEEL BAD FOR THE KIDS CAUGHT IN THE SITUATION BUT IT WAS THE JOAN AND TOM'S DOING. THEY ENDED UP BEING MARIA MEAN-ASS AND JUAN JACKASS MONTEZ ON STARGIRL DC TV SERIES FOR THIS SITUATION AFTER THEY TREATED YOLANDA WILDCAT MONTEZ SO DAMN BADLY FOR SO LONG AND SHE ENDED UP GETTING ADOPTED BY THE WHITMORE-DUGANS.

Things definitely got worse but, in the early part of the story, she sounded like a bratty 16 year old (like all 16 year olds are, I was), who wanted her father back and didn't want to accept anyone else. The only thing they did wrong in the beginning of the story was not doing something cool for her 16th birthday. For most kids (not me because I was on probation at the time) 16 is a milestone birthday and dude just got a promotion so they should have spent some money and made it a big deal. But I'm sorry, there was some shit going on behind the scenes with her mom and dad. What guy puts in his will that his kid gets everything, including the house, while his wife gets nothing, ZERO. Maybe she was cheating with this guy who moved in, I don't know, but some major stuff was going on for her to get wiped clean.

She could have offered them to rent the house and pay back for th last years as well the agend could have told her a good rent.
But I guess this way was a better one.
She has every right to act like that. Her mother made her bed and her husban should have behaved in a different way to her I pitty the kids

Many salutations! This is a nice story from a literary and cinematic point of view; still, something ethically gnaws at me. It is one thing for Lisa to decree homelessness to Tom and Joan because of their past behavior toward her; still, why decree homelessness unto Mia and Jake? Neither one mistreated Lisa -- at least not in the plot of this story.
I really would have enjoyed this story a lot more if Lisa had housed both Mia and Jake for a half-decade after drafting up a lease to that effect. Tom and Joan finding themselves homeless because of how they behaved toward Lisa is justice; Mia and Jake ending up homeless upon Lisa assuming ownership is outright cruelty. If I were in Lisa's shoes, I would make Tom and Joan sign a half-decade long rental lease to house Mia and Jake separately from them.

Tom genuinely wanted to have Lisa as a stepdaughter and the kids genuinely wanted her as a stepsister. It was Lisa who was resisting. She should have accepted being part of a stepfamily. In real life stepfamiles are usually happy.

Nonsense! I dated a woman with kids and I threaded carefully. I didn’t come throwing my weight around. Even though it didn’t work with their mom they still call when they want to talk or looking for advice. I’ve also been to their graduations.

There is some truth to what you’re saying but time should have been given to her to adjust. From the way the story went Tom moved in shortly after her father’s death which never should have happened. The mother prioritised her own happiness over her daughter’s
