They then let Simon use it for a singer (Treyc Cohen) on X Factor as they thought he knew what he was doing and she did a terrible version 😠
In fact, Adam is known for singing covers his own way. He is not an imitator. Brian May and Roger Taylor asked him to sing exactly Queen in his own way and not to copy Freddie. And Adam does it fantastically! Btw, Adam has his own solo career, 4 of his 5 albums are originals (not covers) and there are many great songs.

Great reaction! Adam Lambert is AWESOME! In addition to channeling the original artist like you mentioned, Adam really puts his all in a performance with his expressions, movement, clothing, etc. Adam always gives it his all!
Take a look at Velvet and High Drama. Velvet has beautiful, heartfelt songs. High Drama presents a different take on favorites. Exceptional artist, and a caring individual.
BTW Slash was the mentor for Rock Week, which he said the only reason he did it was because of Adam. They did duets that week as well, and Adam paired with Allison Iraheta for Slow Ride, which was also epic.

Adam has a lot of interesting works: his voice acting of cartoons is gorgeous, he played superbly in Rocky Horror 2014, recentle sang on Idol " I Can't Stand the Rain, as for me, he surpassed both Ann Peebles and Tina Turner with his funk-rock version. What can l say, a talented guy

I was also going to comment on the Elvis factor. I'm old enough to have seen Elvis at his next-to-last concert. As I watched Adam sing this song during the American Idol finals it was as if I were at an Elvis concert, even his moves. In my younger years my favorite rock band was Queen and now my favorite singer is performing/touring with them~!
I thought Change Is Gonna Come on Idol was his most soulful performance. I recommend that you check it out.

Adam sings covers in his own way, always. I don't think he sounded anything like Robert Plant here, but the musicians did the traditional riffs from the Zep. Check out the rest of the songs on the album "High Drama" he just released, they are all covers by his choice. In the Muffin Man he was playing a game and challenged to sing the song (which btw is not the original tune of the nursery rhyme so isn't a cover per se) "as" Cher. So yes, he can imitate but rarely does. And Queen gave him the freedom to perform with them in his own way and not try to imitate Freddie. Adam is a genius, and a beast in every genre he sings.
Credit goes to Lambert. Not many people can sing Zeppelin and make it entertaining.

This was the ONLY season of Amer Idol I EVER watched!!! Unfortunately "politics" back THEN caused him not to win because he had just come out as gay. If it was today "politics" would do the reverse, he'd win, not bcuz of TALENT, but "politics" and todays "woke" agenda. Adam should have won, he was CLEARLY the best contestant that season, but again, at that time TV was not ready for an openly gay entertainer to be the winner. Whether then or now, I wish it was about TALENT and SKILL and nothing else.
