My Dad bought his copy of his softball instructional video back in 93' . Still have it somewhere. It was actually quite good and instructional.
For those who haven't seen his Valentine's Day special, it's easily the funniest thing I've seen all year.

Seems to me like a very down to earth person and I had no idea he can cover genres like opera (check out Nessun Dorma and you will be blown away!)--that is a pretty rounded up artist in my opinion. Glad to get to know the person behind all those hits because I have never really seen any of his interviews.

internet people are so critical. i thought bolton was really likable here compared to the past and he has aged really well and looks much better than his 90s heyday. if he seems a little reserved and mellow, it s clearly because he is shy and you can't hate on him for that.

Bolton's voice really shines when he projects his voice, typically in great corus.
I'm surprised at how... mellow and grounded he is for someone who built his career out of being such a huge personality singer...
....I still fervently believe that he and Kenny G got into a fight to see who had the thin, curly hair mop back in the 90s first. And Bolton won!
He is extremely shy from what I know, and really doesn't like cursing or doing anything not family friendly in his shows/etc. I remember when the Lonely Island song came out, he did an interview where the was really really pushing to not have to say fuck in the song, or pussy for that matter. But in the end they told him that's why it would be so funny because it was him saying it.

Although this interview was not stellar, I appreciate that Michael Bolton doesn't take himself too seriously. The Jack Sparrow video is great and he has appeared on some Honest Trailer clips kind of poking fun of himself.
How is that not too stellar? He's just a chilled, laid back guy. He doesnt have to sell himself these days. He's a lovely person.

he's a pisces probably wasn't feeling the energy in the room and also very mentally calculated.
Interestingly, he seems more comfortable with female interviewers. But also, he seemed more comfortable in the 90s and early 2000s interviews because the questions were more based on the music, not personal life.
But he's definitely shy/slow to warm up to people because he is great friends with Regis & Kelly and is super comfortable in interviews with them

These two guys have survivorship bias. There are plenty of people who have struggled as artists for years and never get "famous." While it is motivating to hear these stories about how you should never give up on your dreams and all that. The harsh reality is that some just don't make it. Be it because of luck or lack of talent, they just don't.

It's weird that he has an appreciation for comedy and has indulged it in his work but when faces with normal comedic banter, he seems uncomfortable and unwilling to participate in any jokes. He kind of felt void of personality and humor here.
DiiJei Jackson Probably just nervous. He could be pissed at Stephen and everybody for mocking him years ago. For so, so long. But that's old news because I'm sure he can belt out that soprano like nobody elses business.
Oh that's a lot of people. Some actors, etc, just don't like giving interviews with a live audience, on a stage. A lot of them are forced into it because it promotion for whatever project they are working on.
