When a struggling comedian shows one act of kindness to a vulnerable woman, it sparks a suffocating obsession which threatens to wreck both their lives. - Zábava

To say the least ❤
Maybe she’s living her reality. Its just too convincing

The amount of empathy this dude has, to humanize the woman behind his trauma is astounding to me.. not many people would attempt to understand that kind of abuse, but it's an important step to healing.
You believe anything huh? He's fake nice

Hey Martha! Loved your interview on Peirs @@FC-hj9ub
He actually has too much empathy that’s part of why this happened in the first place. The fact that he still hasn’t realized is wild
@idontwantachannelname I have that issue, and am very well aware that I am. I can't help it, though. A part of me feels so bad, because I know it could have been caused from being treated poorly as a child, and although it's their fault, it's also kind of not their fault, and that's the part I get hung up on.
After seeing the real Martha interviewed, she NAILED this performance like the real person!
Where can i see the interview?

Interview truly was amazing but I must admit there were holes in her story that didn't make sense. As much as I was rooting for the real Martha, I feel that this interview was a bad choice for her. She claims she's never seen the show, but knew details of the show that can only be known from actually watching the show....
If that woman doesn’t win an award for her performance, I’ll boycott the whole ass awards ceremony.
She NAILED it
You cant boycott the ceremony if you have to watch it to see she wins 🤡
I hope she does, but hey Hollywood awards and given to big time actors. Maybe Netflix can give her!
You wouldnt have the balls.
@@bobsmithson249He means after the ceremony.
Same goes for Richard!
You can tell he's a good man. Despite all the trauma he experienced, he still demonstrates compassion towards his tormentor.
He even had a phase *anking over her 🙈😅
He could’ve easily portrayed her as an evil psycho but he really humanised her and yet people will still victim blame him when I think he and Jessica did a fantastic job at showing how stalking really is a mental illness!!
I find it both amazing and terrifying that he’s able to basically completely relive his trauma this way, I hope they had professionals on set to help him through it
And completely cathartic. ❤
Actually it's probably a therapeutic thing getting to process his trauma in a safe environment. I doubt he would be doing this if he hadn't already been trough extensive therapy
@@el5001 yeah true, I guess for some people it’s a better form of therapy and really helps them
It also helps to help other people. He knows he’s drawing attention to the issue and validating imperfect survivors (most of us were imperfect) ❤️
Even her laughter is amazing
I don't know how he was able to do this and have to act out everything that happened to him. I applaud him and Jessica. After seeing the interview, Jessica freaking nailed Martha.

Her acting hold the 50% of show..
Oh absolutely
After watching her in interviews it’s crazy how accurate she played this part
She deserves an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and any other award!!
Jess was incredible in this but I have to say I adore and respect the enormous strength it has taken him to share this story and be so compassionate, empathetic and fair in understanding her and why she did what she did but also so true to his experience. His fear, his mistakes, his vulnerabilities. This is honestly and probably always will be one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen
We need to see her in more roles from now on, her work is just impecable! 👏🏼☺️
I hope she gets all of her flowers plus more! Her acting gave me chills. I was so impressed almost forgot i was watching a show. Jess is truly an amazing actress.
She was great. Her performance reminded me of Cathy Bates in the movie “Misery”. Chilling and nutty.
If they decided to re-make, Misery? She would play an amazing Annie Wilkes
Absolutely. She was brillant.
Good call!👍🏼
Omg yes-her performance is definitely on par with Kathy Bates!
@@alexthekidd2469 ‘It’s for the best.’ 👀💀
I can't believe the people saying they don't believe him and especially the ones saying know one would make a movie about it if they went through it. 😧 Yes they absolutely would. At no point in all of recorded history is there a time when we weren't turning our trauma into art. How dare people arbitrarily acuse a person saying they went through something traumatic of lying for seemingly NO valid reason at all.
I never even knew people were doing that. That's so sick. Why do they even think that?
@@amremorsehe didn’t lie - a few things were changed for two reasons 1) Netflix asked him to make the ending more dramatic yet hopeful like justice was served and 2) he was trying to protect her by changing some elements of the story. SHE is the one that ended up outing herself by “speaking up” when he never named her or directed anything at her. A few internet sleuths found her but she could have easily just said no that’s not me and moved on. He was traumatized by the events and as a creative, art/storytelling is a way of processing that trauma. Not everyone is doing a money grab, you guys.
Plus: Netflix is a multibillion dollar company. They have had some of the most massive hits over the years. Do you think they would put money into this story if they didn’t have the evidence that it was indeed based on fact? They’d never open themselves up to the possibility of being sued for defamation if they didn’t have proof the story is based on actual events.
@@amremorse nonsense, quite the reverse actually. As for the true story that was Donnie telling his true story, it is a literary technique, you know like Fargo. There was also a disclaimer, as with dramas that are based on true stories. I think it was astonishingly brave of him to write his story and hopefully cathartic as well.
What we don't believe is the extent of the stalking and the statements like "even Martha herself wouldn't recognise herself" when he actually made it very obvious
@@FC-hj9ub yeah, it's definitely very clearly her so that wasn't accurate. I also think that it's very likely that the story was altered and dramatized but accurately represented the emotions that he went through. I would have more sympathy for the "real" Martha however, if she hadn't gone on tv and drawing A LOT of negative attention to herself very much as a result of her own words and choices. Maybe there were some internet stalkers who theorized it could be her, but she fully confirmed it to millions of people and introduced the issue to many people who'd never even seen the show. She also made homophobic, racist, and other wise terribly offensive comments in her tv interview as well as in her hundreds of emails to the show producers. While it may have been possible for a small number of people to recognize her as Martha based off the show and had a problem with her, it's not comparable to the amount of people she has identified herself as Martha to, or otherwise gave people a reason to take issue with her due to her own current words and actions. I hope that she gets the help that she needs :/
People that don't believe the story haven't been SA'd or known someone irl who has. It's horrific.
They definitely know someone who has they just don't know it or care to
@@ComedyGlorAbsolutely, some people don't care until it happens to them.
I was stalked by an ex in college and 12 years later I still feel like I'm going to see him following me, even though by then, I've moved 400 miles away. I'm very wary of giving my number out now, little things like that still stick with you
@@brokengirlsrus:( i’m so sorry you have to go through that
I don't care what the interviews are saying, this man is very bold. He is very brave for bringing his story to scream, not only directing it himself, but taking that position of being himself. I've seen a handful of these shows, and usually, no one plays as themself. He put himself in a position that triggered those sour memories. And especially with having an actor that is so top-notch perfect on channeling the personality of the person that did this to him. Amazing
@amremorse it's his trauma. He has a right to share it
@@amremorse so the victim is to blame here because it is a man, no doubt.
@simzism he profited off of this big time. He egged her on by giving her a free drink every day for weeks. He’s no victim.
Jess is one hell of an actress... and she's pretty too❤❤❤
Watching Fiona insult her appearance was difficult.
There’s this quote by Roald Dahl in the twits
If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.
A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
Only delusional people will think she is pretty...she is a great actor but stop lying to people
@@beckydavis4958 wtf she didn't insult her -she complimented her -she said that it was a compliment that Piers said they looked alike jesus christ
She's beautiful!

She's a great actress. And then watching that interview with Piers Morgan and the real Martha, how did this actress nail it so hard?
she did a SPECTACULAR job
She deserves all the flowers!
Absolutely amazing performance, she smashed it ❤
I love that the real Martha did the Piers Morgan interview to prove she wasn't a stalker but all she did was prove how fucking excellently Jess played her
She also proved that she was the real Martha
Seriously. The poor thing is not right at all.
Absolutely amazing show! Acting was so on point by both actors!
How do you know, have you been stalked?
@SophiesWorld2024 you are living proof how sad and pathetic our world is...where an individual can't even express how well actors and actresses portray characters. Incase you been living under a rock, the main actor is playing himself in actual events that occurred to him, soooo yeah I would say the acting was on point. What does it matter if I've been stalked? I'm giving my opinion on how well the acting was....never said the acting is EXACTLY what it feels like for someone to be stalked.
@@SophiesWorld2024lol! why would someone have to be stalked to point out and express their opinion on how well a performance was portrayed through the medium of visual story telling? What does being stalked or not have to do with anything?! Why do I even bother replying to this nonsense 😂🤦🏻♂️
@@SophiesWorld2024you’re doing that wrong

Her character is so spot-on (to the real Martha on Piers Morgan) that I totally believe there were thousands of emails and voicemails for her to study so she could get the character just right.
Although, was it really the "real Martha" on Piers?
@@Riana.dS.are you being serious, do you think that wasn't her?

@@Riana.dS.At one point she claims to Piers that it “couldn’t possibly” be her. 🤷🏻♀️

Award material.
For everyone saying that they don’t believe him, know that SA impacts every aspect of a persons life. Similarly to what he said about her, he was leading her on but it wasn’t bc he was a bad person. SA sucks, depression sucks, and having a sense of overwhelming shame after an assault like that, messes up your entire baseline.
His final breakdown. I felt that. I still feel that. I’ve done questionable things after my assault. Still hung out with him on a bender the whole week even though I woke up to the pain between my legs and thighs and shoulders and back. The bite marks. You shower to wash all of the filth off you. As time goes on, it feels like you are the filth. It was you all along. So you do the stupidest sh*t to gain control. I believe him. His breakdown was real and if he’s willing to open up about that…
Obviously there were artistic liberties taken while making the film so it’s not all true. It’s tv, come on don’t be surprised. But so what? It’s his story about a traumatic time in his life, he didn’t need to share that with anyone. He doesn’t owe anyone anything. Think back on your childhoods. We’re all artists in a way that we fill in the details here and there that we don’t remember, it’s normal. It’s how we process things. It’s not 100% the truth but your experience and emotions from that memory isn’t a lie either.
@@amremorse To put it simply, why are we dictating how he should go about with processing a SA anyway? Like what amber heard was to women who deal with DV, you guys are the same to men who deal with SA. Men bottle these emotions with no real healthy way of release then it leads to worse things. It’s literally a butterfly effect. I think if men had a safe place and people to validate their experiences, I don’t think toxic masculinity would be such a huge problem as it is today
@@amremorseSo you are in the habit of shaming victims? James Frey made up everything. This guy did not. Not even comparable.
Also, giving someone a pass for horrible and abusive behavior simply because they have mental illness is dangerous and wrong.
Her acting was superb!!! Immaculate!

Her performance was fantastic. I felt just about every emotion towards her character. I was rooting for her, scared of her and sympathetic towards her all at the same time. She brought such nuance to a difficult role.
She deserves every single award for her performance. After the interview with the alleged real life Martha, I'm amazed by how similar she sounded
Yes, she's an amazing actress.
She sure did chanel the real life person.
I think that sometimes we forget that these are two people's harrowing story from the complete opposite sides of the spectrum, being easy for us to cast judgement whilst unacknowleding the turmoil that both parties have either been through or are currently in. Richard portrays a brave depiction of a real victim rather than a perfect one where as martha is clearly suffering from life long mental illness. The peirce Morgan interview was very telling on her end but nonetheless it spoke to what was shown on screen with Gadds talent and truthfulness as a biographical screen drama.
I just finished watching this series last night. One word - incredible. I don't think it's completely sunk in yet how much.
Both did amazing work - Richard able to act out his own story, that’s incredible. Jessica is gifted and dedicated actress. Her portrayal was so accurate and well done. Breathtaking
She is brilliant at accents. Yorkshire by upbringing apparently but totally nailed Scottish and Australian in the things I’ve seen her do. Would have taken for a native in both cases. And such a dynamic range as an actor.
Haven't seen her in anything with an Australian accent I'm probably mistaken but your not mixing her up with Danielle Mcdonald from the Tourist by any chance?

The real Martha said she recognised herself from Gad's one man show at the Edinburgh festival. Why didn't she sue then?
How could Fiona say anything about this actresses looks? She has pretty green eyes and is very talented
Much prettier than Fiona, in my opinion. Sorry
Piers got some big brains here... He was trying to help her confess on small things such as email phone tapes etc rather than accusing her of serious crimes... This strategy is generally used by interrogators 😅
idk who Piers is but the movie was good for UK audiences...in America when we get stalked we die. Ya'll just end up having your lives made difficult. Must be nice to have the worst thing that happened be that you get laughed at, not raped or killed
