  • Aha! Moments is an experimental show ( monthly) that is initiated in the HOPE and DREAM of serving a mirror for us to see ourselves in other’s STORIES by discussing and spreading IDEAS, HOPES and DREAMS.
Later, this show will also help us to UNFOLD the HIDDEN MINDS and TALENTS from the nooks and crannies and add values to their dreams.

Thank you Jamyangla for your contribution to Tibetan cause. You were way ahead of the time to not get the support you deserved. Also consider our community was just starting to settle in exile. Many still under educated at that time.
Most of us are in Tibet 6 million Tibetans, in exile we are just 100,000 so. Tibetans in Tibet lose their lives while protesting against China. In exile we have the opportunity to educate ourselves and become objective rather than divisive in the community sadly we see that a lot.

I have heard Writer Jamyang Norbu la speak for the first time today. and completely enjoyed watching this interview. I have heard about his works and controversies before, but this video really showed me who he really is, a bold and persistent man that is. I agree with his message to us; do things with more courage and to go into projects hundred percent professionally. Thanks to Bhuchung la for making this happen. I dont see any difference between you and a young Jamyang Norbu la. Creating new paths for hope.

Jamyang Norbula exudes hope in spite of his bitter experiences working in the TGIE. His romantic view of the Tibetan freedom struggle in his youth he says was inspired by the works of Hemingway and Orwell both of whom had participated on the republican side of the Spanish Civil. His wide ranging reading should have made him familiar with national struggles of various peoples the world over in the tortuous annals of history. An Italian scholar who knows Tibetan once told me that Jamyang Norbu wanted him to write for the benefit of Tibetan readers a short biography of Garibaldi, the great soldier of Italian unification.
In the interview, Jamyang Norbula talked about Herodotus who flourished in the fifth century BCE (the father of history tells the story of the gold digging ants in the upper regions of the Indus River, i.e. Tibetan areas) and the great Chinese progressive writer Lu Xun who to his good fortune did not live long enough to see the China of Mao and the mayhem of the Cultural Revolution.

Tenzin Palzom la; the fact that you have said something about the gossip floating in the air raised a doubt in you about Jamyang Norbu la ; and said something about it , is a good thing. It shows that , you are not someone who falls for cheap gossips easily . That’s a clear sign of a strong character . That’s a rare quality in an individual. Keep it up. I am a Tibetan and, an old woman who has watched many ,many of Jamyang Norbu la’s good works, watched countless interviews, QnAs , his speeches and read two of his first books . Jamyang Norbu la is one of our many gems today..especially in exile . Let’s not have our hands in discouraging likes of him and shame our future generations. He has never gone against His Holiness ever . But, being a man of letters in the intellectual fields, he has the courage to speak his mind honestly and straight forward before His Holiness. Therefore ! Sometimes , many of us lacking maturity and lack of knowledge in the field we misunderstood Jamyang la, misinterpreted his words and sometimes though fewer..out of jealousy …I have a strong feeling that , His Holiness most probably considers Jamyang la as His political-colleague rather than an opponent : a political enemy. It’s something like “same, same ! But different ! Meaning, same Tibetans, same goal ,same aspiration and same purpose : to save Tibet ; but with different ideas, thoughts, means , ways and methods. Look back at the Indian freedom fighters. You have Gandhi ji , on one hand and , Nitaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the other: both fought for Indian independence using different methods : the end game : India became independent. Just an opinion. By the way; on few election time, I did not vote for someone because he/she criticized on Jamyang Norbu la’s writing when he/she hadn’t read any of his works. Criticizing wasn’t bad and was not at all wrong . We have the right if we find something about writing we disagree with. But this individual never read any of Jamyang la’s works , presents him as someone not good before the public . That was so wrong .

I think Jamyang Norbu la is the most appropriate exposition of how British imperialism deceived and betrayed the Tibetan government and people in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the reason for his level of English and long-term attention about it.
He knows best about this aspect, but unfortunately for some reasons, he never mentioned this aspect of discussion. If I read correctly, he has always maintained the glory of the sick man of Western Europe (the British Empire).
