Joni actually sang this song on Grand Ole Opry three months before the M-G-M Record was released as the flip side of "I Woke Up Crying." Joni's good friend Victor Young wrote the song for the Barbara Stanwyck Western "The Maverick Queen." The version used throughout the film had an additional verse. Joni told me, "As I listen to the film version it seems I did not know the song as well as I did when I did the record." The single "The Maverick Queen" got great radio play in country markets.
