      Sort of. The MVS cabs had updates to them over the years that added things like more RAM, and that would cap to the new games (old game carts would be comparable to the new system, but not visa versa) to those units.

    maki is chizuru's deceased sister. I think if you play as chizuru in one of the previous games instead of fighting chizuru you fight maki instead. Gameplaywise shes a superior chizuru. Feels like an actual boss fight (3 vs. 1) when the opponent has three life bars! It’s not often in fighting games boss characters have a different life bar from you because most fighters even the boss has the same life bar and power bar (sometimes don’t like Onslaught or Abyss but his power gauge displays but stays empty throughout the entire battle) you do. Apocalypse (his HP gauge displayed on the bottom of the screen), Galactus and Ultron Sigma (who have vertical health gauges, you don’t see that every day) are the exceptions however. You all know what health bars and power gauges are shaped like, right? Rectangles, popsicle sticks, indented rectangles (or parallelogram, is that what they’re called?) like the Wii banner and of course, parallelograms. The colours appear to be yellow, green (an appropriate colour for health bars imo), blue (which works for power bars imo) and sometimes red or whatever other colour they may be. We all know most of the time health bars are displayed on the top of the screen whereas power meters are sometimes below the vitality meter but most of the time it seems on the bottom of the screen along with what power level the character is on. Why does nobody seem to explain this?

    Side note, the largest Neo Geo games were 708 Megs running on the Giga Power software, which were Metal Slug 3 and 5, SamSho 5 and 5 special, and SvC Chaos. These were absolutely pushing the limits of some pretty old hardware than ran stuff from 1990, but SNK somehow managed to make KoF 2003 with 716 Megs, making it the largest and only one of it's size. The game itself even looks stupidly good on Neo Geo hardware, and they somehow made a 3v3 tag game with these limits.

    • @Obscusion2
      @Obscusion2 Před 2 lety +1

      Technically, it's 716 megaBITS, not MegaBYTES, as none of the cartridge-based consoles of the 90s actually used MB for measurement, but rather Mb. So KOF 2003 was actually 89.5 Megabytes, though that's still massively larger than anything ever released on something like the Genesis or Super Nintendo, as even the more recent homebrew games (like Pier Solar or Paprium) are still nowhere near as large as what these late Neo Geo games were.
      Hell, even the N64 never went this big, as its limit was 512 Mb, or just 64 MB. Yes, KOF 2003 is larger than the N64 version of Resident Evil 2!

People usually rank this one towards the bottom of the series (like in the bottom 3 with 2001 and XII). It has such a unique aesthetic and presentation, and it has my fave intro of the entire series. Plus it brought back Chizuru after she was absent for the entire NESTS saga (even though she was pretty weak compared to her 1998 incarnation). It also introduced Malin, Shen Woo and Duo Lon who I really wish would come back for XV. I also loved there being two possible bosses and Maki being brought back from the dead as a puppet was a cool twist.

However, when I played it on ACA Neo Geo for Switch, it seems that the Audio slightly delayed to me. It might just be me or something on the emulator's end. Aside from that, I think that 2003 is a Solid Tag Team Fighter.
